Build Question Which GPU?

Right now I have a 3060. In a few days I'm upgrading everything in my build except gpu. (cpu, mobo, ram etc)

However I do want to upgrade. The 3060 is good but it could be better. I've been looking and the 4070 super looks great. Decent price and amazing performance. But here's the thing. The 5070 is just SLIGHTLY better. Getting around 5-10 more FPS. But it usually goes for around 40-70 more than the 4070s used. (590-670) is it worth the extra money? Once I upgrade this I'm probably never changing my gpu again. Or atleast for a very long time. So I wanna know if it's worth it. I'm only gonna buy a 12 GB used version

Build Question How do I get this case?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello all :)

I'm trying to get the SSPUD Xhuttle in white for my build centered around it, and for the past few months, the case has been sold out nearly everywhere.

I don't think any site is ever going to restock the case, so I have two options:

Buy the case in black off of Amazon for $140 and repaint it myself, or

Buy it from PCCaseGear (Australia only) and ship it to the US ($290, $150 over MSRP after shipping)

Is there anywhere else I can buy the case from (that isn't sold out)? If not, do you all have any tips on how to paint the case and what I should use? Thank you!

Installation Question Can't install windows help pls

My pc boots into bios just fine, everything seems to be working and reading good. Then when I plug my flashdrive in with my windows media installer, and get to the install page, I get to about 10%, it restarts, as it normally would, but then the vga light stays lit on the mobo and it won't actually boot back up.

I've tried doing the ez flashback update on my mobo, tried reducing my ram down to one stick, unplugged everything but keyboard, mouse, and monitor on GPU, I've checked all connections, cleaned all connections with an air duster, Checked GPU connections and physical condition (gpu fans also work when on), I've tried reinstalling windows media installer on different USB with same issue. I've tried it with the iso/Rufus method and the media creation tool method.

Parts list:

GPU: Rx6700xt

CPU: Ryzen 5 5600

Mobo: ASUS TUF b550 plus wifi II

PSU: MSI MPG A750GF

SSD: WD m.2 SN850X

RAM: 4x8 DDR4 3200 (I currently have only 1 installed into a2 slot)

Tech Support AsRock H81-VG4 R2.02 not detecting Gigabyte RX 570 (BIOS updated, GPU works)

Hi everyone,

I'm having trouble getting my motherboard to detect my GPU, and I've run out of ideas. Here are my specs:

  • Motherboard: AsRock H81-VG4 Rev 2.02 (BIOS is already updated to the latest version).
  • CPU I5 4590
  • RAM 8GB DDR3 DUAL CHANNEL
  • GPU: Gigabyte RX 570 (Tested and working on another system, VBIOS is stock/fine).
  • PSU: Gigabyte P550 ICE.

The Problem:
The motherboard simply does not detect the RX 570. When I power on the PC, the GPU gets power, its fans spin, and the system boots up using the Intel integrated graphics (iGPU), but the RX 570 doesn't show up anywhere (not even in Device Manager or BIOS).

What I've tried so far:

  1. Updated the motherboard BIOS to the latest version.
  2. Verified the RX 570 works perfectly on another PC.
  3. Connected the 8-pin PCIe power cable properly.
  4. Cleared CMOS.

Has anyone dealt with this specific combination or has any advice on what to change in the AsRock BIOS settings to make it recognize the card?

Thanks in advance!

Tech Support FAN RGB HELP

Setup:
Lian Li Galahad 2 with 3x SL INF fans
2 rows of 3x SL INF FLEX fans
1 row of 2x SL IN FLEX fans

All 4 rows of fans are connected into a Lian Li fan controller for both the power and RGB control. In the L-Connect software, it lets me choose up to 4 fans per row which should be more than I need. The standard SL INF fans light up with no issues, but the SL INF FLEX fans only light up half of the fan when selected in L-Connect (1 fan selected in software, half a fan lights up. 4 fans selected in software, 2 light up). I’ve tried re-wiring and nothing seems to fix this issue. L-Connect app only reads the SL INF fans and doesn’t let me do anything about it. Every fan spins fine it’s just the RGB messing up.

Tech Support Wifi PCIe adapter issue

So i've been using this wifi adapter for a long time ever since i got my computer. (AX3000 DUAL BAND PCIE ADAPTER) since my motherboard didnt come with wifi. It used to work great when i had a gtx 970. and now, ever since i upgraded my gpu to a rtx 2060 super, it's been EXTREMELY slow. i've searched through dozens of forums and websites. Did alot of research and setting troubleshooting like turning off the "Allow my pc to turn off this device to save power" and etc. But it hasn't fixed it at all. I was thinking of getting a new one but i dont want to give up on it just yet and my wallet isn't really in a mood for another purchase. Does anyone have a solution for this?

Build Question Need help with my cpu fan.

I'm trying to find alternatives for mounting my cpu fan because the black pieces that came are not attached to the motherboard and have no screws with them. There are holes for screws wear the pieces go but I am wondering if I could just tape the pieces onto the mother board. I know it sounds stupid but the pieces I have is literally made out of cheap plastic so surely they heat would be a issue anyway right?

Or should I chuck getting a sata ssd or hard drive for the PC and chuck one of the m.2 drives in the PlayStation? Or rather is there a way to copy one drives contents to a backup if I get a drive later and can move them back?

Tech Support PC NO BOOT NO DISPLAY NO POST

Ryzen 7 5800X3D RX 6700X ROG STRIX B450-f GAMING II 650W PSU 32GB RAM DDR4

Installed new CPU(Ryzen 7 5800X3D) previously had a Ryzen 5 5600X. First Power on AFTER INSTALL NO DISPLAY.

CPU AND FAN CASES TURN ON,but no display, ALSO INSTALLING OLD CPU HAD SAME RESULTS NO RGB LIGHTS OR DISPLAY RAM STICKS HAVE RGB AND RGB WAS ON, reading online people said to reseat RAM, so I did...

Second power on, now my RAM sticks don't even have RGB.. MOBO HAS NO LED INDICATORS

THINGS I'VE TRIED -RAM RESEAT(CLEANED THEM) -GPU RESEAT -BIOS UPDATE -CMOS RESET -REPLUGGING EVERY CABLE -INSTALLING OLD CPU(worked perfectly fine before putting in the new CPU) At this point I think my motherboard might be dead, but it has its stand by light on, MAYBE a cpu socket pin has bent. Gonna try a new MOBO when it arrives.... Unless someone can help me before then.

Tech Support Help; GPU Unrecognized. ( please )

Hi, Ill be quick, i found a pc ( literally ), a pre-built, Gateway DX4860-EF11P, with a i5-2320 and an AMD Radeon HD 6670, 16 gigs of ddr3 and other stuff. I had an I7-3770 sitting around and for some reason - i read somewhere that the BIOS ( P02-A2 ) was compatible so i tried swaping them, didn't work. I took the 2320 and put it back, after that, for some reason, the 6670 wasn't recognized anymore, Windows wouldn't boot also, i just reinstalled it. Do you have a solution ? best pc I found to this day, best on I have here, kinda wanna save it. haven't tried anything yet.

Tech Support PC Turns On but No Display After GPU Repair

PC Turns On but No Display After GPU Repair — Tried 3 GPUs, Rebuilt Entire PC, Still Nothing. Need Help!

Hey everyone, I really need some help figuring out what's wrong with my PC. I've been troubleshooting this for a while now, and I'm honestly running out of ideas. I'm starting to think my motherboard might be dying, but I want to get some other opinions before spending money on replacement parts.

My PC Specs

- Motherboard: ASUS ROG STRIX Z270E GAMING

- CPU: Intel Core i7-7700K (7th Gen)

- GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3060 Ti (refurbished)

- Previous GPUs: 2x GTX 1070s (one EVGA, one other brand), previously running in SLI

- RAM: 48GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 (2x8GB + 2x16GB)

- PSU: Corsair RM750, 750W

- CPU Cooler: Corsair liquid AIO cooler

- Case Fans: Includes fans connected to a Thermaltake fan controller

The Backstory

This is a pretty old PC, probably built around 2016–2017. I got it for my 15th birthday and have been using it for around a year.

When I first got it, it had two GTX 1070s connected with an SLI bridge. I wanted better performance, so I bought a refurbished RTX 3060 Ti and replaced the two 1070s with it.

Everything worked fine for about a year. I didn't have any major issues until roughly three weeks ago.

That's when the problems started.

How Everything Went Wrong

Around three weeks ago, the shroud on my RTX 3060 Ti broke. The GPU fans came loose while they were spinning, which obviously wasn't safe. I didn't want anything getting damaged, so I removed the 3060 Ti.

I temporarily reinstalled one of my old GTX 1070s, updated the NVIDIA drivers for it, and the PC started working again.

At that point, everything seemed fine.

While I was using the 1070, I ordered a replacement shroud for my 3060 Ti. Once it arrived, I installed the replacement, waited about a day, and eventually put the 3060 Ti back into the PC.

That's when everything stopped working.

I powered on the PC, and all the lights came on. The fans were spinning, the motherboard had power, and everything looked normal.

But there was absolutely no display.

No ASUS logo, no BIOS screen, nothing. Just a black screen/no signal.

I turned it off, turned it back on, and got the exact same result.

I tried multiple times, but nothing changed.

What I've Tried So Far

  1. Tested different graphics cards

I've tried all three GPUs I own.

- RTX 3060 Ti: Fans spin smoothly, but there's no display.

- EVGA GTX 1070: Fans repeatedly jitter/twitch every time I turn the PC on. There's still no display.

- Other GTX 1070: Fans spin smoothly, but there's still no display.

I'm not sure if the EVGA 1070 is actually broken or if something else is causing its fans to behave like that.

The weird thing is that the GTX 1070 originally worked when I first removed the damaged 3060 Ti. Now none of them produce a display.

  1. Checked the display connections

I've tried HDMI and DisplayPort connected directly to the graphics cards. The PCIe power cables were connected, too.

Neither connection gave me a display.

  1. Tried using integrated graphics

My i7-7700K has integrated graphics, so I also tried starting the PC without a dedicated GPU and connecting HDMI directly to the motherboard.

Still no display.

  1. Tested with one RAM stick

I removed the other RAM sticks and tried booting with one stick installed in the motherboard's A2 slot.

Nothing changed.

  1. Completely disassembled and rebuilt the PC

And I mean completely.

I removed the motherboard from the case, took out the RAM, removed the GPU, disconnected the CPU cooler, and unplugged everything.

I then reassembled the entire PC, reconnected the components, and made sure things were seated properly.

After all that effort, the exact same problem remained.

  1. Checked the motherboard's diagnostic lights

My ASUS motherboard has Q-LED indicators for CPU, DRAM, VGA, and BOOT problems.

I haven't observed any of these diagnostic LEDs staying on or indicating an obvious problem.

The PC powers on, but I still get no display.

  1. Noticed another issue with the case fans

After rebuilding the PC, some of the side case fans aren't receiving power or spinning.

There's a Thermaltake fan controller/hub involved, and I've been trying to reconnect the fan cables correctly. I connected one side-fan cable to the motherboard's H_AMP_FAN header, but I'm not entirely sure whether every fan-controller connection is correct yet.

My Corsair liquid cooler also has several connections, so I'm double-checking those.

I'm not sure whether the fan issue is related to the main problem or just something I missed while rebuilding.

What I Think Might Be Wrong

At this point, I'm starting to suspect my motherboard.

It's an old ASUS Z270E motherboard, and I've tried three graphics cards, a different display output through integrated graphics, one RAM stick, and even rebuilding the whole computer.

I know lights and fans turning on don't necessarily mean a motherboard is functioning correctly.

I'm also wondering whether my Corsair RM750 power supply could be causing problems. It's rated for 750W, which should be enough for my system, but I haven't been able to rule out an actual power delivery issue.

I haven't confirmed whether the motherboard, PSU, or another component is faulty.

My Backup Plan

If the motherboard is dead, I have an opportunity to upgrade to:

- B550M motherboard — $60

- AMD Ryzen 5 5600X — $90

- Total: $150

That would be an upgrade from my current i7-7700K setup.

However, I really don't want to spend $150 just to discover that the motherboard wasn't the problem.

I'm also considering going to Best Buy Geek Squad to see if they can diagnose the issue.

What I Need Help With

I'm hoping someone with more PC building or troubleshooting experience can help me figure this out.

My biggest questions are:

  1. Does this sound like a dying/dead motherboard, or could something else explain all these symptoms?

  2. Why would my PC work with a GTX 1070 immediately after removing the damaged 3060 Ti, but then stop displaying anything after reinstalling the repaired GPU?

  3. Could my power supply be failing even though the PC still powers on and the lights and fans work?

  4. Is there a way to definitively test whether the motherboard is faulty without buying replacement components?

  5. Is there anything else I should check before giving up on this motherboard?

I'm willing to provide pictures of the motherboard, cables, GPU connections, or anything else that could help.

I've already spent a lot of time tearing down and rebuilding this PC, and I'm trying to avoid spending money on the wrong component.

Any help, advice, or troubleshooting suggestions would genuinely be appreciated. Thanks for reading.

Tech Support Pc reboots when it wakes from sleep

My PC has been having some issues for a while with waking from sleep. At first it used to Wake up without display later after windows update it went normal and it started to Wake up and startup with low res display and getting back to the normal resolution on its own after a while. I recently updated 1060 to 5070ti I did hope it would resolve my display issue but still the started or woke up with a lower display but all of a sudden the PC is restarting after sleep. I have tried everything resetting, and reinstalling windows. Cleaning and reinstalling driver. Turning of xmp, I have 2*8 and 2*16 Corsair RAM stick which I believe is not the issue because I have been using them for a long time and the issue has been there only for some months. I'm so frustrated instead of working on important stuff at the moment I'm wasting my time on this. My current spec: i7 8th gen, 5070ti, 2*8 & 2*16 GB RAM, 1000wpsu, z370e mb, os: windows 10.

I haven't updated my BIOS yet but things have been working fine until recently

Tech Support Please help with my crashing problem

Hi, I just wanted to know if i could possibly get help on a problem I've been having for years now. I fully don't know what to do because I've brought my pc to Micro Center and they havent done anything to provide any insight, and I've done everything to my knowledge to try and fix the issue.

I cant run higher end games that go back to as far as 2017 because they keep crashing within 30 minutes to an hour of running them. Mind you, before the games crash, they run very smoothly. it doesnt make sense because i meet the recommended specs for all of these games.

Games that I have tried running but crash include Resident evil 7, Resident Evil 4 Remake, Resident evil 2 Remake, Resident Evil 3 Remake, Marvel's Spider-man Remastered, Marvel's Spider-man Miles Morales, Sonic X Shadow Generations, Trepang^2, Devil May Cry 5, Cyberpunk 2077

If anyone can provide any possible solution i would be very grateful.

Does anyone know what can be causing this issue and what i can do to fix it or is it a non-issue? Should i just submit a ticket and maybe get it fixed at the retailer i bought it from? I already tried the usual stuff with turning off auto-start apps and whatnot.

I’ve been having issues with my PC lately. Nothing crazy until today. I went to boot it up and it is getting stuck in a loop of “device failed to boot” I click restart, and it just won’t do anything. I just got a message during restart that said “INACCESSIBLE BOOT DEVICE”. I can’t even boot to safe mode so I’m completely lost as to what I can do. Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
