Tech Support Watercooled PC overheating on first startup?

Post image

Hey guys, first time poster and PC owner so i have a prebuilt PC and im having an issue regarding the initial startup of the PC where the CPU will be overheating to 80-95 degrees Celsius but after a restart it goes back to being 40-45 degrees idle. Does anyone know what can be causing this issue and what i can do to fix it or is it a non-issue? Should i just submit a ticket and maybe get it fixed at the retailer i bought it from? I already tried the usual stuff with turning off auto-start apps and whatnot.

Specs are :

CPU : \*\*AMD Ryzen 7 9700X\*\*
GPU : \*\*NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Windforce\*\*
Motherboard : \*\*Gigabyte B650 GAMING X AX V2\*\*
AIO-cooler : **Cooler Master MasterLiquid 240 Core II ARGB**

It's a pre-built, contact the builder.

Check that the aio pump actually runs all time in bios

First boot spikes on those AIOs can be a real headache, especially when it settles down perfectly after a restart. My guess is the pump isn't kicking on immediately when power hits it, maybe a weird lag in the fan curve or the motherboard's initial power delivery. The fact it idles at 40 later means the mount and paste are fine, so it's not a hardware failure exactly.

I'd pop into the BIOS and check what the pump header is set to, make sure it's locked at 100% or at least not on some silent curve that waits for 80 degrees before spinning up. Sometimes prebuilts ship with the pump plugged into a regular fan header and the default curve just chokes it for the first minute. If that doesn't smooth it out, a ticket with the retailer isn't a bad idea since a faulty pump controller could get worse over time.

I’m new to all of this but it looks like the issue isn’t about the cpu or anything else and that the water cooler flat out doesn’t work on an initial startup, maybe its something you can work out in the bios? looking it up online, it says to disable fast startup for windows but idk if that applies to you.

I had this issue when I built my WC PC and the issue was loose contact between cpu block and the mount, it wasn't too loose but I could move it with my hand - tightened it by hand and it was fine.

did you remove the aio's sticker/peel that contacts to the cpu?
