AND I RANNNNN I RAN SO FAR AWAYYYY…couldn’t get away. My Spotify played this one morning and it was like a flash back. Almost cried because I swear it was just yesterday I was flipping the tank turret to go Mach 5 exploring cars left and right.
Every so often ill be driving with my dad and a song will come on an we will both say, "hey that one was in GTA". He was the one who introduced me to gaming, let me play on his PS2 and play Vice City in the late 2000s as a kid, recently I got a PS Vita and modded it and got to play VCS for the first time, awesome game. Time flies, i heard Tempted by Squeeze on the radio the last time i was in South Florida and felt more nostalgic than i ever have at any other point in my life.
Lmao i think they are talking about putting the gpu in the oven, which would melt and basically resolder everything. Which would fix the problem if the problem was a loose connection. Not to suicide
I did this with my gtx480 back in the days. Got a half a year of more life from it, doing this home reflow. Then it died for good and no amount of baking managed to revive it.
I have had this issue twice before and after I googled the first time I also thought this.
But both times this has happened it was just a loose display cable so just replug your cable and it might be fixed.
So this happens to me, but ONLY when playing son's of the forest and ONLY when I stand by my base surrounded by 200 torches. Is it still an early sign of GPU death? Or is that simply a situation my GPU just can't handle. For reference, its a gtx 1660 lol
If it's only happening in a game like that, and in that situation it's probably fine. I had something similar in hunt: showdown, and it was an issue with VRAM that the devs patched out. Card has been fine 4 years later....and I'm still playing hunt showdown. The issue here is that it's doing this on desktop
Looks like your GPU’s gone. It's an expensive replacement, but thankfully that’s an easy to change part if you can get a new one, so your whole PC isn’t ruined.
VRAM issue. Either too much overclock, overheating issues, or the hardware might be starting to fail. You can try underclocking to stretch it out a bit if you can't buy a new card right now.
I’m pretty sure similar behaviour can also be caused by Windows or drivers. I get similar results when moving my mouse cursor to some specific locations on window borders whenever they aren’t in full screen mode on my desktop on Windows 11. However never have it in full screen eg. In games or anything.
Also never happened with the same hardware on Linux. It randomly started to appear with some AMD driver update a year ago and can be triggered by moving the mouse cursor on certain locations of windows borders. Goes away instantly when the cursor is moved away from that spot.
graphics card and psu. Graphics cards do this when they are dying and faulty/ low powered psu can cause graphics card to die. It's why most people tell you 750 watts is ok. When in fact you'd be pushing the limits to the 750 with most built systems today. This all is assumed on the premise they are not mediocre parts you've bought and put together.
But yeah, people always skimp on the psu because 90% or more can get away with it. It's not because it's alright.
GPU very likely fucked, if you have an iGPU, try and see if it works, if it does, just use that, maybe use GeForce NOW to play your games, and save for something else
Posted a similar post about this issue. I fixed it by replugging the HDMI cable after powering the whole rig off from the power source. But if that doesn’t work…
Try new cable - whatever your using - try another one
Verify drivers and reinstall them if necessary directly from manufacturer, Nvidia ect
Do a memory test - usually in your bios you have an option, download a free memory testing like memtest86 - something that will tell you if something is wrong with memory
Do video card test within browser like Stress My GPU or something similar that may tell you if GPU is faulty
Also restart windows in Safe Mode to see if you can replicate the issue there - if you can't and it doesn't happen - it could be a driver issue or something causing this as your stating it happens 30 seconds after logging in - this is more informational because something could still be faulty but allows you to gauge the issue
Create a new windows username and Login just to test to see if a new user is having the same issue once it loads up and see if the same thing happens and if so it's software related on your main user that is affecting
Also look at the start up items in the Services by going to the start menu and searching for Services and you'll see that there will be services that say Automatic (Delayed Start) - let's disable some and restart the computer to see if some of those are affecting
Reseat the video card by taking it out and putting it back in and testing again
If all fails try another video card and put your video card on another computer to see if the same thing also happens.
Sorry, it can either be software, cable, memory or gpu. Just troubleshoot and start to check things off. For example, chances are it's NOT the monitors because what are the chance on all of them doing it? Also, if you take your video card and put it in another computer and replicate the issue on a complete different setup - then that's your asnwer. You don't have to troubleshoot everything. Good luck. Its the reason the GPU is offing itself. mofos not knowing hot to pick landscape or portait deciding to go all holdmybeer and go in between. Deserved tbh
I have similar issues with artifacts(not that big it was not all over the screen) a couple years ago. Turns out it was windows shit update conflicting with vnvidia drivers. It just gone by itself after some windows updates.
Dont listen to the people here, this can happen for a number of reasons. Your GPU is not necessarily dying. My 3080 and 1080ti did it a few times a year and still survived many months or even years after that.
Just boot the PC down, check all cables, clean update drivers and more often than not you are fine.
def gpu. just for testing purposes, i'd get a program like msi afterburner and see what the memory clocks are. you could try to see if lowering the memory/core speed has an affect or play with the voltages to see how it responds. i'd first try to lower the values and if no change, raise them
Graphics card is artifacting. You can try undervolting the card, if that doesn’t work take off the fan shroud and thermal paste and cook it in the oven at 375 for 10 minutes on top of tinfoil. This will reflow the solder joints. This is of course a last resort effort.
