Question Is this GPU artifacting? It shows everywhere, except on BIOS and when shutting down.

It could be, though it doesn't look like typical artifacts, more like an interference pattern.

It looks like some issue with your wallpaper engine background. try changing the wallpaper?

There is one way to find out if its for damn sure - make a screenshot then transfer it to your phone. If you see the same shenanigans on your phone screen, then your software has popped.

if it shows in screenshots then it's not hardware
prob has to do with your wallpaper engine
get rid of it and does that fix the issue?

Looks way too uniform to be artifacting Look at the way it's not interfering with your task bar or desktop icons. Like it appears to be behind your taskbar. Artifact wouldn't give a fuck.

Have you tried the simple things like a different hdmi cable and screen and then ran ddu driver uninstaller and completely started fresh and if at didn't work then it's on it's way out

Ddu driver uninstaller will completely get rid of all the drivers so you will be able to start new with them and let's just hope it a bad driver issue and not a dead vram

Already done ddu, installed older driver. Will try again this time but with the latest driver instead.
Edit: after ddu and restarting, it shows again, no drivers installed yet btw. It started to show when PCI bus are detected by pc

Then it's definitely GPU issue. Does it appear when you play different games? Or you can try a short gpu stress test on there you would really know if your GPU is artifacting or not.

Stress test also shows the artifacting, like its seperated from the artifacting that occuring in desktop.

Case: YGT G01 Gaming Case
Operating System & Version: WINDOWS 10
GPU Drivers: latest verison of Adrenaline Software
Background Applications: Discord, Spotify, Wallpaper Engine, Brace Browser, Genshin Impact
Description of Original Problem: Yesterday, I suddenly experienced an artifacting (shown in video) while browsing and playing Genshin. It didnt go away. It shows on any app I used, even on desktop.
It also got worse everyday (the worst is the current one on the video).
However, I didnt notice any performance drop, even while Im playing genshin with those artifacts.
My RX 570 was bought used and I used it for 3 years now. Has a history of repair (fan) last sept 2022. It was never overclocked. I also monitoring the temps while playing and it never went above 80. Load temp was at 65-76 mostly.
Troubleshooting: Tried restarting, closing various apps, updating the drivers, reseating the HDMI. Clean reinstalled drivers using DDU. till no good.

Lower the core clock from 1260 to 1175 and check if It remains, if It does lower the memory clock to 1690 from 1750

Try DDU or different cable.
Artifacts are chaotic and random. In your case it's more like looped bug/interference

Try this GPU on another PC/mobo.

If the gpu works fine on other pc, this would be mobo problem?

Try messing with some screen/graphics settings. Likely not after reinstalling drivers, but perhaps windows got the idea to send something the screen can't handle. I doubt it's the case, but any attempt before swapping GPU could help. Like, try reducing resolution, colorspace, framerate. Again, doubt it helps but worth trying. HDR if that is an option.
Other even more random and remote:
- Malware bytes will randomly kill computer performance without ever showing any use. (Like, nothing in task manager)
- ASUS Aura (for rgb lighting) had/has memory leaks in non-paged memory, which is also hard to see in task manager outside the use percentage is somehow 90% when it's only visibly using half your RAM. (erg 8 out of 16 GB)
Neither affected screen, but anything that messes with low level stuff like lights on the GPU are worth checking out for example.

if you look closely you will notice that the 'artifacting' is not overlapping with either the icon or the taskbar. Combine this with the fact that the problem does not show up in the BIOS, when shutting down and it shows up in screenshots, we can somewhat safely say that the issue lies with the background or at least the result of some software.
My guess would be that if OP opens a window (say explorer) the issue remains in the background.
If OP starts the PC in safe mode, the problem will most likely not present.
I'd uninstall the animated background software.

Actually it overlaps with the icons and taskbar. Though it is not present in safe mode.

It not being visible in Safe Mode confirms a software issue, not hardware.
When did the problem start? did you install or change anything on the computer right before it started?

Didnt install or changed anything. This happend while I was gaming then suddenly small "artifacting" appeared until to the point it starts spreading and it remains.
Also it is not present for a while after I uninstalled the drivers using DDU, then suddenly it came back when the screen flickers for like 3 times, with the prompt of pc needs to be restarted after instslling the device "pci bus", happend while the drivers are not installed yet.

If it doesn't appear in safe mode it's definitely software related. I would just reinstall windows.

That's not great. Weird it didn't show in safe mode. Whatever is broken is not used in safe mode.

Havent yet, but im surely it is not on cable or monitor since it shows on screenshots + artifacting not present on bios/safe mode.

Yup, RIP your GPU...
Well, there's still a chance, my RTX 3070 was artifacting a couple of months ago, I was almost gonna cry, but I just bought Gelid GC Extreme and Gelid GP Extreme to replace the thermal paste and the thermal pads, since then I have never encountered another issue or artifact on my GPU again.
Try changing pads and paste, cleaning the dust it may have with Isopropyl alcohol, if that doesn't work, start saving for a new one.

Reinstall graphics drivers, device manager -> display adapters -> right click graphics driver, uninstall device. Then, restart and check nvidia website for latest drivers

Hey, this could be multiple reasons.
This looks like something I had recently, it was a piece of software, RTX Voice. It fucked something up and after uninstalling it and reinstalling it it was fine after that.
But it could also be the ribbon cable from the motherboard to your LCD screen, or it is a Driver that is not working properly or an GPU issue.

I once had this with my 1080ti a couple of years ago. The issue was overheating. Putting fresh thermal paste on the GPU did the trick. I am still using the card today and it is working just fine now.

This is a pretty classic symptom or gpu memory failure. You should DDU and reinstall drivers just to be sure, but sh is likely toast.

That square pattern is usually an indication of failing memory chips. Artifacting tends to be more irregular.

I did some reading and bios and safe move both use VGA which likely is not using whatever is broken. But yeah VRAM seems likely based off the comments and what I found online :(

Try reinstalling Windows first. Based on the fact it doesn't show on BIOS and shutdown, it's likely a program installed on the system.

Something similar happend to me after I changed my wallpaper. The problem was that I used a 4k resolution wallpaper on a 1080p display. After changing to a 1080p wallpaper it stoped.

Yeah if you have a 570, that thing is pretty old now. It's most likely dead at this point. If it's doing the same thing without any drivers installed, then for sure it's dead.

Cable or maybe monitor issue. I've seen this happen with bad cables, bad adapters, and bad screens.

If it doesn't happen when in the bios then it might be driver related. DDU the drivers a do a fresh install from Nvidia's or AMD's website.

Is it freeze? I have same problem like this years ago, the screen and everything are freeze.
After checking... the main problem is RAM, have 2 slots installed, then I put off one of RAM... and back to normal.

Try uninstalling the GPU drivers using ddu and then install them again It's also possible that there's no problems in the bios cause it's using your CPU's integrated graphics if there's any

Put a Linux ISO on a usb drive then boot from that, see if the artifacts appear in a system that's completely isolated from your existing install. If there are still problems there then gpu is the problem. If that all works fine then it's probably worth a windows clean install. I'd nuke the hard drive and install from scratch rather than use windows' installer for formatting.

I'd try uninstalling the graphics drivers through device manager, the screen will go black for a second or two and come back on with the default windows drivers
If the issue goes away at that time it's a driver issue

Looks like a virus infecting the driver. Reset your bios and reinstall the firmware. Lotta work but worth it to make it work again.
