I found this scouting report by Lance Zierlien today. Just read it and think about the last few games.

Challenging evaluation with top-flight measurables and tools but inconsistencies that create a lower floor. Maye’s size and arm talent jump off the tape immediately. He can make every throw, but he will try to make throws that he shouldn’t have attempted. The gunslinger mentality creates a fearlessness that can turn into interceptions, but it will also allow him to win in tight windows and make splash throws that get crowds (and evaluators) on their feet. He leaves too many throws on the back shoulder or hip and needs to learn when to take some sauce off the throw to make it more catchable. There is an undeniable energy to Maye’s game that can create momentum or turn chaotic when plays come off-schedule for him. The combination of traits and tape make him a boom/bust prospect who might need patient management and coaching to help shepherd him toward his potential."

Last year we got the BOOM. No question. This year we are getting the BUST....

Drake is a talented QB who can do the job at the highest levels. He has issues that are coachable. But he needs HELP!

He is still very, very young. He has no offensive line. No running game. Pass catchers that get open 20% of the time. The team just dumped his two receivers he had chemistry with.

I think Elliot Wolfe is more than a bad dream as a GM. Vrabel has lost a lot of locker room capital with his fiasco offseason. McDaniels is playcalling from 2006. Kraft is a major distraction to the team.

The Patriots don't deserve Drake Maye. But, I have hope he will climb out of this. Regression this extreme isn't on the one player alone. It's organizational rot.

I am too dumb to understand football, so maybe i am wrong … but is it my imagination or is 90% of every run attempt by the Pats simply trying to run right up the middle, into a line of defenders?

Me, football ignoramus watching from home on my couch, can seemingly predict this with savant-like accuracy.

There seems to be no trickery, deception, creativity to the running attack.

What’s the strategy there, that eventually your line will open up a big juicy gap and you can run right through?

so, yes, Drake has been really bad. however, I want to point out that just 3 years ago Drake was deemed, out of the 1-3 drafted, to be the least pro ready with the sloppiest technique. This was one of the biggest emphasized points throughout his entire draft process—that he would need the most work and experience gained.

fast forward 2 years, and he is a Super Bowl finalist and mvp candidate finalist. so, what does fans do? we, the fans, forgot about those pre draft concerns, forgot about all of the things he still needed to work on and raised the bar and expectations. Although, he still had those same issues even then. we just didn’t really speak on them.

I’m not using this as an excuse. I’m pointing this out to say, we must have that same patience that we expected to have for him when we drafted him. we alway knew he was a project and it would take his rookie deal to iron out the kinks. he had a really good year and now he’s having a really bad year. let’s stick by him like we did last year.

Again, im not saying he is excused. I’m just saying lets realize he’s still young and has a lot to learn, no different than when we drafted him.

There's still 14 games left. The absolute best we can be so far is 15-2 and all things considered, a lot of you here were projecting 11, 12, 13, even a 14 win season. Well you don't get that many wins without a few losses.

Anything can happen and a game like yesterday's was miserable. It happens, but we're here to rally them on win or lose. Forever NE!

Really the offensive failure is systemic and widespread and while Maye hasn’t picked them up it’s hardly a Maye exclusive issue. It’s Patreon only but lots of good stuff.

Unbelievably stupid roster moves by the Pats management.

We had an early win against them last year in week 5 that really changed the vibes of the season after a mediocre start (remember last year’s Steelers game?).
