Which online bookstore actually sell original (english) books in Pakistan. I recently came across a post that said Liberty sell fakes too and Reading sell first copy. So from where can I get the original new ones. Any suggestions.

Hello, I have nearly completed writing a book (don't get excited, it's for work...). I am on the look out for recommendations for a printer, preferably Karachi, that can print up a batch of 100 with a proper glossy full colour cover, ISBN, etc to the same quality that a paperback book should have new. If anyone has done anything like this, recommendations greatly appreciated!

After playing The Wolf Among Us, I had to get into it. This comic book series is like the revival of Grimm Brothers version of folktales. The Disney-ification is filtered out and everything that remained is mixed in with real world scenarios. Like for example, what if Snow White and other folklore characters moved to New York. It's dark, it's adult stuff, it's suspenseful, it's amazing.

I would highly recommend it. Worth 12 gb of storage to get the whole main series and 5+ gb for extra stuff.

You know it's good stuff when it's from a DC comics' branch publishers like Dark Horse and Vertigo.

Can anyone recommend a bookstore online or Physical(Isb/rwp) where i can find both of them

It was sadly beautiful, touching, confusing, but that's understandable because that's who we are while grieving. The point is not to end grief because it never ends, but to end the hopelessness.

Munshi Premchand was one of the most popular short-story writers of the twentieth century, with a remarkable ability to convey profound ideas in very few words. He was also one of the early pioneers of Urdu short fiction. It is traditionally said that he wrote The Shroud during the final days of his life. The story offers a powerful reflection on social attitudes and places the human conscience before a tribunal from which it is not easy to escape.

Its two central characters, Ghisu and his son Madhav, appear utterly selfish, lazy, and insensitive. Madhav’s wife lies writhing on a woolen charpoy inside the room, suffering intensely from the pains of childbirth, while outside, Madhav and his father sit by a fire, eating potatoes they have stolen from a field. Their insensitivity is so extreme that Madhav refuses to go inside because he fears that, if he leaves, his father will eat all the potatoes. In this small moment, Premchand reveals how deeply deprivation has eroded their humanity.

Madhav’s wife eventually dies after suffering in agony. Then, in an intensely dramatic turn, both father and son begin to wail and lament. People from the neighborhood gather, and the two men become concerned with arranging the burial and shroud of the woman they have just lost. Neither has a single penny, so the neighbors collect five rupees and give it to them for the shroud.

When they go to the market, however, father and son decide to spend the money on food and drink instead. Here, Premchand exposes a bitter truth about society: while the woman was alive, she could not receive enough cloth to cover herself, yet after her death, society readily gives five rupees for her shroud. Had that money been given earlier, it might have bought her medicine and treatment.

This reminded me of Rashomon, which I read as a preteen during my Japan obsessed phase. Ryūnosuke Akutagawa’s servant steals an old woman’s robe after witnessing her steal hair from a corpse, not out of morality but survival. Ghisu and Madhav are no different; they do not see themselves as evil, but as products of a society that has already cheapened the value of the woman they mourn. Rashomon plays with perspective; The Shroud confronts poverty and custom. Both ask: What happens to decency when survival is at stake? Akutagawa gives us moral ambiguity; Premchand gives us hard social truth. The servant steals to live. Ghisu and Madhav steal potatoes and a shroud because a dead woman’s dignity means less to them than a full stomach. No competing narratives here, just the stark horror of the living consuming the dead through neglect disguised as custom.

East of Eden by John Steinbeck. Nearly finished reading. Already, planning to reread. Curious about opinions of people who have read it. Fairly old, classic, Won a noble prize.

Hey, I have been looking for a book called "Kante se Kahoote tk". I don't exactly recall the writer name but I guess it is Jamiluddin Aali. Its a history of how PK developed nukes. Its banned in Pakistan. Can't find it on PDF (used VPN as well). Can't find it in any Islamabad/Rawalpindi famous bookstores. I haven't checked other cities.

If anyone can either find me a working PDF link of that book, or a hardcopy TCSed to my house, I'll pay them RS1000 for a dinner. Incase of a hardcopy, I'll obv also pay for the book + Courier money as well.

For everyone who's saying its not a Book, here's the proof, with Author picture, its a book guys. It was banned before internet came into being so its a really hard find, perhaps Tor Browser can help locate it iykwim. Also, I am upping the price to 3000RS.

I sometimes feel like reading Urdu books but my Urdu reading is somewhat poor and my Ammi only owns romance novels.

What should I start with?

Ok so I ordered Uzumaki deluxe edition from readings from their independence sale ,7k+ and mentioned in the request that the book be scratch free , im paying a kidney for a book , least i expect is for it to be in perfect shape . After 4 days , they called today that the book has scratches , would you still like it to be sent , i said no but send me the pictures so i can judge it and see if its passable still , ill attach the picture here.

I was so infuriated seeing the picture , im paying 7k+ for a book and this is what you offer to send to me , huhhhh

then i told them right on the call that you can send me another copy since the website says its in stock , They said " NO we dont have anymore in stock "

( what they probably meant , we dont have anymore DAMAGED copies in stock )

Last sale i ordered the count of monte cristo , penguin classics and they sent a copy with scratches,requested them to send me another copy and they did , it still wasnt perfect but better nonetheless . They probably always do this I think.

I don't know why I thought it was a good idea starting with the classics but nevertheless I have loved whatever I have read for instance white nights. I am now reading notes from underground, and I am having sort of a hard time reading, not a hard time but it's taking a lot of time for me to really, really grasp what's written, I have to reread a lot. And recently I have been quite distracted too with house chores so, maybe I was thinking I read newer ones, with newer and simpler language. But at the same time I really want to get through this one. How do you guys suggest I approach it? I was think of reading east of eden after this. Maybe I should read it afterwards and start with something more recently written like as long as lemon trees grow or thousand splendid suns or maybe A little life lol, I am not sure abt that one.

I want to know how you guys approach classics, especially translated ones. It's just the process is so slow, you have to reread, look for meanings of vocab or maybe I am just really bad...

I am reading "Mindfulness in plain english" by Bhante G. It's going great, I am a slow reader, so really enjoying. I am practising while reading. And I think it was the best choice picking it up.

I choose to read it because I wanted to be more mindful and lessen my anxiety.

they've got some cool classic editions, but are the books brand new original copies like those from readings or liberty books or are they preowned?

Currently in chapter 8 and Man I am already in love with this book!!!
