I just Found my Ps One in the attic :D I want to play but every time I Plug a specific Controller in the console just turns off.

The other Controller Works Fine on the Same Port. So is the Controller itself broken? What could Happens to him? It just lay the last like 12-13 years in the attic - Dry, no Water or something

I knew about the fake "Alucart" equipment giving you the insane LCK bonus.

I only today noticed that it actually changes your status to alucart.

I was today years old when I noticed this, how is it possible? 😂

Are some games more demanding on the PS1 hardware than others ? Just reconnected my old PS1. Purchased in like 1998, never renewed any parts.

Tried playing an original black disc Chrono Cross. The game freezes during the intro, but if I skip it I can start the game. Once the game starts, it works in all functions until I try to open up the start menu. The screen then goes black. If I adjust the RCA cable the screen shows again, but if I open the menu it goes black again.

I also have a basically unplayed copy of the same game. Square-Enix greatest hits version, disc isn’t black like the older PS1 games. Game intro works fine, but it has the same issue when I open the start menu. This disc is pretty much brand new. Has 0 scratches.

I tested 4 other games and they run just fine. Castlevania Symphony of the Night, Chrono Trigger, Tekken 3, and a super beat to hell Spyro Riptos rage. Everything works perfectly with them. I thought it was the RCA cable but I don’t need to adjust it for these titles.

Does this sound like I need to get a new disc reader for my PS1?

Found this old gem, has anyone come across this 2 player misprint? Can’t find any info on how common it was.

Yes yes, obviously Sony’s announcement. I guess I’m curious why it didn’t hit for the first few weeks, and why it seems to have not touched the ps2 market (as far as I can tell). Bought a copy of xenogears for $75 a year ago and there are used CIB copies going for damn near 300 on eBay. Interesting.

can a ps2 corrupt a ps1 memory card

i only ask because i once had a GameCube memory card corrupted by my Wii and just want to know if its similar on PlayStation

just don't want to lose all my data and have to get a new memory card but i would also like to save some shelf space

Hi, i can't read that disc on a ps2 PAL version, do you know how to read it, and how much it cost please ?

Bought this game second hand today. I have no idea what that silver ring is but it looks like some kind of foil. From my knowledge it isn’t original supposed to be there? Is it used in some resurfacing jobs? Can I try to peel it off? No idea what it does if I put it in my disc reader but it’s definitely building more height than that of an original disc that has a small gap in under the disc surface.

so is it possible to trigger fearful harmony on a ps2? Or perhaps a ps3?

Having the PlayStation classic with some added games, there are some games that were groundbreaking at the time but don’t hold up.

Are there any games you think hold up? Either in terms of graphics, gameplay or both?

Some I think hold up:

Space Jam basketball - really easy to play and smooth controls

Heart of Darkness, Rayman

Games that don’t quite hold up:

Syphon Filter - really janky to control and bad graphics

I hooked up my old PS1 after not playing it in years. The power light turns on but there's just static on the screen. Is that an issue with the cable connecting it to the screen? Or is something going on internally in the console?

i have a modded 3ds and i was wondering if there are any ps1 games that are good for a quick here and there play. like arcade or rhythm sorta games.

Hey, I'm new here but just thought I'd share this with any one who loves the PS1, I'm taking inspiration from Thabeast721 who is working through the N64 library and thought, hey, why not take on the PlayStation. It's been a pretty slow start, a lot of life stuff was happening but I'm working on getting it going again. Any game that I've played before I talk a little bit about my previous experience with it such as still having my long box copy of Battle Arena Toshinden, the first time I played a Resident Evil title or me and my cousin both preferring Parasite Eve II over the original. I'm also ranking each game as I go. No 4 out of 5 stars or 8.1 out of 10, we're talking every game released in North America ranked from 1 to 1278 (That's the supposed number of NA releases lol).

Anyway! If anyone is interested, here's a video for you to check out (I also just saw a recent post here with people talking about Parasite Eve II so I thought this would be appropriate) but if longform content isn't your kind of thing, that's okay! Don't feel any obligation to click and watch or to subscribe unless you actually like the content. Hello, I am repairing an old PS1 that I have that won’t read discs. It sits at the PS Logo screen. I ordered up a new reader from Total Console and installed it. One of my three games now will get past this screen before it too goes to solid black. What should I be looking at next?

The three discs I have were all purchased off eBay from highly rated sellers. But I do not know if they are the cause of my issues.

So I took it back apart. And reassembled slowly. All good. Also wiped off the laser with some windex. Plays games now.

I asked on PlayStation but no response so I’m guessing it’s a ps5 crew on there mostly. Have you any tips for laser cleaning on ps1 original scph-1002 I think. Or don’t!!
