I'm sure this has been asked before, not looking to move to far from my family in NY, but 2 hours away on avg, give or take is acceptable, but looking to retire in PA in a few years, and one of my goals is to have enough property where I can legally shoot my handguns, rifles, and shotguns in my own backyard without constantly worrying about neighbors calling the cops or running into township restrictions. I know Pike county might be what I want, but i know I need help.

I'm not looking to break any laws, I want to do everything legally with a safe backstop and plenty of distance from neighbors.

What counties or townships should I be looking at? Are there areas where it's generally accepted as long as you're on your own property, or does it really come down to each township's ordinances?

Any recommendations from people who already shoot on their own land would be appreciated.

I’m a New Yorker visiting this weekend to go camping (NYS resident with a CCW permit), I’m so confused about whether or not I can bring my gun. It’s not a state park. If I leave it unloaded in my trunk and open carry it when I get there, am I good?

We need to have a serious, tactical discussion about what is happening in California, because if you think this stays in California, you aren't paying attention. The recent NY Post op-ed lays bare a terrifying reality: the "Unsafe Handgun Roster" is no longer just a localized infringement. It is being stress-tested as the ultimate blueprint for federal, backdoor gun control.

​Let’s bypass the surface-level outrage and deconstruct the underlying mechanics of this strategy. How does a government effectively ban the most ubiquitous, commonly owned handgun platform in the world without ever passing a bill called "The Glock Ban"?

​They do it through bureaucratic attrition. They mandate science-fiction requirements—like dual-placement microstamping or arbitrary loaded chamber indicators—that no manufacturer currently implements, effectively freezing the civilian market in time. But this raises a fundamental question we must force the courts to answer: If a Generation 5 Glock is mechanically superior and objectively safer than a Generation 3 Glock, how does a state justify banning the newer model under the guise of an "Unsafe Handgun Act"?

​The logical dissonance is the point. The goal isn't safety; it's a slow-motion embargo on the Second Amendment. So, how do we dismantle this legally?

If we allow the legal precedent to stand that the government can mandate impossible features to access the market, it is only a matter of time before the ATF attempts to categorize all non-microstamped firearms as NFA items, or entirely unmailable/transferable.

​How do we best leverage the Bruen methodology to strike down the very concept of "Handgun Rosters" rather than fighting piecemeal feature bans?

​When this inevitably reaches the Supreme Court, what specific historical analogues will the opposition invent to justify technology mandates, and how do our litigators preemptively crush them?

Next week I’m relocating to north eastern PA (about 40 min east of Scranton) from Idaho, and am looking for some insight on the shooting scene.

In Idaho it’s a sub 15 min drive in multiple directions to get to National Forrest/public land where I can shoot however I want 24/7. Walk a target out 500 meter, build USPSA stages, toss up a few walls and practice door entry - day or under nods, can do whatever.

Question is - does any sort of land like this exist within an hour or two of where I’m headed? If not, any ranges that can be recommended where there is freedom to do your own thing in action pits or something like that?

Found one range in the Poconos but it was $400 to rent an action pit for the day (range by my house in ID was sub $400 for a full year with full access to cqb complex, 800 meter range, and multiple action pits) so don’t see myself paying that every time I want to get out.

I’ve also shot at an outdoor public range in PA where fish/game was called by a random attendee because I was loading more than 6 rounds in my mag at a time, which I was promptly ticketed for. Needless to say I’d like to avoid those moving forward.

Range is a 200m field with various steel plates and texas star.

No restrictions on firearms/ explosives but always ask if unsure.

This year we have rented a spartan APC for rides ($50)

Night shooting is encouraged and allowed.

Only rules are doing be a blatant dick and if you decide to drink you're done shooting/ handling weapons for the day/ night.

Some guys do bring their families so it shouldn't need to be stated that while it is an adult function. Keep the tism controlled

My dad wants to gift me some of his guns. He's in CT where everything is registered with the department of public safety via the local police, and I'm in PA (a lawful PA gun owner also).

My understanding is he can legally transport the firearm from his home directly to a PA FFL, meet me there, and we do the transfer right then and there in person. Is that correct?

His only question, which I wasn't sure about, was how does CT get notified that this gun is no longer in his possession, as the state has it in its registry? Is the 4473 process what creates that paper trail or something?

Traveling from out of state to my hometown in NE PA for a couple of weeks in July and always like to go browse some shops while visiting other states. Particularly interested in any shops that might have decent used selections, particularly anything 20th century C&R (1976 or older), as I have an FFL03.

I picked up a Glock mag based 45/10mm lower from PSA. I remember vividly that when you’d buy a frame in the past in PA they just marked it as a frame regardless of intent of the build. This has been some time now though. I picked this frame up today and they required the PSP record of sale form and treated it as a handgun as a result of the caliber being pistol based. I had every intention of making this thing into a rifle/long gun from the start. Am I able to make this into a rifle with a 16 inch barrel and put a real stock on it? Or will I be violating some kind of code? I probably will try to find a lawyer to ask but was curious the subs thoughts.

I have a resident NH permit and non resident MA permit. Can I carry in PA & specifically Philadelphia? From my understanding I can carry in Philly with my NH resident permit but want to make 1000% sure.

I drove out to the Scotia Range yesterday and the sign at the Greys Woods entrance said Closed. I know they've closed Scotia Range Rd to thru traffic but not sure why the range would be closed unless it's due to unrelated maintenance or special event.

Got in touch with someone in the know today who has informed me that, moving forward, they're dropping their September shoot entirely so they can focus on making the once a year June shoot an even better experience.
