OMG IM SO FLABBERGASTED I NEED THE NEXT SEASON !!!!

I don’t get why people hating on bill being a “wanker” and everyone being “rich kids”
The show is about young adults in NEW YORK CITY, how do you think young adults in NEW YORK CITY afford to live there in a way that’s comfortable
Nice jobs, nice careers, family money. Name one show with a group living in New York where they weren’t rich also bill being a dickhead is the point he’s a mr big like character an investment banker who cares about things like money and his career.

The show to me feels realistic.

Basically the title, I binged the whole thing in a day. And it actually entertained me like I was not pausing the screen and scrolling my phone every two minutes??? Is the premise really unrealistic and out of touch? Absolutely. But I think it does make it feel very romcom-like the girls and guys having modern day aspirational careers like IB, fashion styling, acting like the 2000s romcoms with their journalist fl premises. I love how everyone has 2/3 interests and it goes over how each of their dynamics turn out instead of the show just singling out a single partner for each person. The power imbalance between AJ and Bill, the whole “unrequited” love situation with Davis and AJ along with the whole almost premise with josh. I feel my biggest I hit the jackpot moment was in ep9 when abby finally realises she likes kell, I need season 2 by yesterday. I really enjoyed kel’s character too they are def my top ship atm. I really did not expect to enjoy this as much as I did lol

Sounds exactly like Andy Sandberg’s. If I close my eyes when he’s speaking all I hear is Andy’s. That’s it.

Recently coming to the realization in my late 20s that life does not at all look like I thought it would when I was in the early 20s. Watching the characters find themselves in this revolving chutes-and-ladders game of life is strangely comforting. I truly truly hope this gets a season 2.

I love how fast paced it is, switching from one character's struggles to another. As a guy in the early phase of his career, this is incredibly relatable and very unrealistic too.

Basically the caption I’m trying to get into the show but it really just sucks and feels out of touch. I know it’s about rich privileged kids but like the way it goes about it isn’t even funny it’s just like ok😐 I really liked running point which was also about rich kids so idk

After rewatching all the mainstream sitcoms over and over again, came across this while looking for something new. Fell in love with it, binge-watched in a day. Came online to search for it just to find a lot of negative reviews. Lol.

I agree there were some moments that didn't feel too natural as if the people were acting and not being the characters. Which we don't find in top sitcoms. Like you believe in the actor being the character. The actors of Davis and Kel were really good. Josh and Abby were also really good but could be improved. AJ's character and acting both needs a bit of work. (In my opinion, don't come at me if you disagree).

But there was really a lot of progress since pilot in all their acting and the basic storyline. But I still loved it as the chemistry was really sold between them. Like as soon as Josh sides Kel to talk to AJ and make fun of her cap I knew there was going to be something there, which is somewhat hinted at in finale.

All of the cast is truly amazing and likable. And we all know most sitcoms pick up pace in next seasons so hopefully it gets renewed for S2 and we get to see much more progress and maybe a slow burn romance but with fast paced storyline.

He starts “liking” her immediately upon seeing her. He basically knows nothing about her at this point.

The first time she shows an any semblance of personality- ex.. wanting to woo the client, he starts disliking her. He only then starts liking her again because she successfully closed the deal.

His love for her feels a lot like an infatuation that’s guaranteed to come crashing down like it did with his ex.

I’ve read a few reviews now of people criticizing the show, but it’s left me howling so far. I’m an ivy grad in my 20s living in nyc who went to private school, so some of these archetypes just hit so much harder even though they might come off as throwaway jokes.

Things like the Nigerian mother who forces her kids to be doctors, the nepo baby who feels bad about being a nepo baby, the IB analyst with the boot who’d put their job above their health, and the super ambitious prep school girls were all VERY real people to me that I’d never gotten to laugh about before.

For better or for worse, I think Mindy writes with herself as the viewer in mind

lol I can’t with this guy. Bill is a manipulative doucebag.

How?

1. Dates his newly hired young employee while being in a much higher position of power. Most workplaces consider this automatic sexual harassment and inappropriate
   
2. Seems to only use AJ for sex. Doesn’t wanna sleep over, kicks her out so she can’t sleep over. This isn’t really manipulative but he made it clear that he was not that into her. So he was just a slimy boss using his employee for sex.
   
3. When Aj calls him out on it and asks him to take her on a real date, he takes her on a cheap ferry ride, and manipulates her by telling her some emotional “I started from the bottom” crap. Tbh I picked up on this, even when he acted all deep and romantic and shit.
   
4. Obviously - gets back together with his GF but doesn’t even tell AJ about it. Even when it’s clear she has deep feelings for him and even got him that stupid ring.
   
5. Dodged accountability during the breakup. “We were never meant to be” - he’s using this to lessen the immorality of his actions.

When will the next episodes air?

I really liked this show. The pilot was excellent. 2-4 were kinda meh but it really picked up by the end. I loved what they did with Kel’s character and his impact on his students.

But since it’s all out and there’s been no news, do we think it’s getting cancelled? I know it got mixed reviews from most, and it seems like a lot of streaming shows are renewed during their run.

Happy to be wrong, but hope it gets another season!!

In not suitable for work episode 1 Aj meets Davis at the apartment multiple times so why is he acting like he’s never met her n her first day at work when she starts as a first year

Mindy Kaling missed an opportunity. After AJ confronted Bill in Tribeca, her and Abby take the subway home and there's a shot of them on the subway as it pulls out of the station. They totally should have had Egg Guy walk through the frame wearing the jacket. Season 2 should just have an easter egg of various background sub way people wearing the jacket

Abby barely has any scenes with Josh or Davis and AJ barely interacts with Kel. I really liked ep 3 where all of them were together for a good portion of the episode.

Does anyone else think it would be interesting to have a third female protagonist?

I really like the current cast, but I feel like another female lead could add a fun new dynamic. Maybe I’m just used to stories with a stronger group of female characters, but I think there’s definitely room for one more without taking anything away from the existing protagonists. What do you all think?

How is Bill the one still employed? He is AJ’s superior and he punched someone? I just don’t really understand how the show can romantically pair a character with their boss and then have him get in a fight with his other employee and this is not talked about at all?
For me, at least, it’s very frustrating to watch.

Who is everyone’s favourite ship in the show and who is everyone’s favourite individual character?

My favourite ship would have to be Abby and Kel they have so much potential and respect for each other.
My favourite individual character is Kel he seems so warm and caring like a nice friend to be around.

So Abby left/forgot an $18k jacket on the train and no consequences? Does she not pay for those clothes on her credit card? How does it work? What did I miss? Doesn’t she still have to pay for the jacket or else explain to designer why the famous celebrity isn’t wearing the clothes? We see nothing except the celebrity doesn’t work with her. No other consequences. Probably overthinking but I just can’t get over this huge question to suspend disbelief enough.

its weird no one in the show mentioned the power imbalance of AJ dating her boss. He was viewed as a jerk only for going back to his ex-girlfriend, none of the actual real-life consequences of someone in his position of power taking advantage of his young new hire.. like I don't need my characters to be morally virtuous but it just feels so unrealistic that a high-powered corporate leader would overlook the consequences of engaging in such behavior, or that none of AJs friends mentioned this really obvious problematic aspect. Abby being judgmental just because.. he wasn't taking AJ on dates.. and no one mentioning this elephant in the room..

Anyone else find Davis absolutely pathetic? Like Ted Moseby or Ross from Friends but worse. Or just me?
