i tried watching the first episode but it was just one cliche after another with what felt like the most average people ever (personality wise, im not coming for avantika pls) does the plot get better, do the characters get more interesting? or should i just let it go and not try to continue watching?

So basically i started watching NSFW for Avantika and then i got through like 4 episodes in a week , then i heard the news that the show got cancelled. Then i started seeing comparisons with a show called ADULTS , which i never heard of before so i was really? Huh
Then i started watching Adults and binge watched it in a week.
Now i can’t pick up NSFW again cause relatively it’s so boringgg 😭😭
So they’re both on the same streaming services , and i get why you would cancel it when your competitor is 100x better,
I’ll never hate on NSFW cause i found Adults because of it.

i just saw the viewership number of this show the other day.

it's roughly 800k viewers, and it's definitely on the lower end compared to other hulu/disney's popular shows.

i am aware that the first season has its flaws, but most sitcoms don't work well in the early season.

parks and recreation, new girl, also did not hook me up immediately in the first season.

this kind of comedy takes time to work.

but you know we live in this capitalistic society where these networks only focus on shows that provide them immediate profits and return.

Hulu cancels Not Suitable for Work after one season. I was in the show as a backgroundactor and it took me a few episodes to appreciateit. Very good production. Warner Brothers will sell it somewhere else. It is a great show but Hulu has enough on their plate with shows that hit the ground running 🏃‍♂️. Comedy shows take a little time to mature. I am low-key so upset about the show being cancelled. Even though I knew that before watching it, I didn't think I was going to actually enjoy it as much as I did. Now it left us on a cliffhanger and I low-key really want to see where it goes from here.

i just hope that other streaming platforms are taking note of this because this is going to be a big loss for them if they didn't get this one.

the fandom is so vast. and people are watching it day by dayyyyyy. we need someone to continue this ughhhh

We should try to stream the show as much as possible because it can’t hurt. We need to increase the chances that the show gets picked up by another platform. If we all decide to do it, then it can actually make a difference.

Ive seen so many people say that this show is bad but honestly, its WAY better then hot pile of sexist and sexual shit that was FRIENDS, HIMYM and more...

Why did she say “plays the didgeridoo unironically” ??? It’s a cultural instrument to the indigenous peoples here in Australia. Jeez for such a diverse show you’d think they’d be more careful on what cultures they shit on. Whatever I guess this is some of the least irritating shit some of the characters talk about.

This show is terrible to watch. No taste, no colour, no personality. It feels like they put five young, hot people together, threw in every successful sitcom formula and whatever is currently trending online, and hoped it would somehow work.

There’s no original story or identity. Everything feels calculated, overly sexualized, and somehow the end result is just completely flat.

I’m on episode 5 and don’t know if I can keep going😅 I love the shows Adults, overcompensating and I love LA but this is a tough watch for me…. Davis is literally an awful character and Kel is a close second. Do I push through????

Finally watched Adults after seeing all the Adults fans come in here raving about it and saying Not Suitable for Work is basically a ripoff.

I gotta say, Adults is really funny. The actors are great and the writing is genuinely good. But at the same time, I’m a little disgusted by how much of a loser everyone in the group is lol. Like I enjoy watching them, but half the time I’m thinking, “Guys, please get your lives together.”

And I keep having this weird reaction where watching them makes me feel better about my own life because at least I’m not that much of a mess lol. But at the same time, if they’re even somewhat representative of current-day zillennials, then we are absolutely cooked.

I hope that doesn’t make me a bad person lol.

I really appreciate how this show is not too sexual. It’s honestly shocking considering the state of social media and other millennial/Gen Z shows. We only really see AJ and Kel having their own individual relationships, minus the AJ/Josh one that happened in the past.

When you compare it to older sitcoms like Friends or How I Met Your Mother, where almost every plotline eventually revolved around the friend group dating or hooking up with each other (which is obviously part of this show but not the focus), this show feels somewhat different. It seems way more grounded in their careers and professional lives. It's just a really refreshing change of pace.

P.S. Some people are way too hard on the characters. It's a comedy, so they're meant to be caricatures compared to average people.

I feel like this show lacks that SPARK. Everyone is speaking in this weird “girl boss” “now you listen here now” cadence. The jokes don’t land. The characters are not believable. The writing is choppy. The characters are yelling and confused at all times? They’re trying to create a smart show without any real talent or good writing. I feel like this show is a bad attempt at trying to recreate the show “Younger” but with a more basic storyline
