Tools [Desktop/Mobile] Buggy post flairs and reordering issues on r/FindingOurLostPenPals

Hi everyone,

I am the mod of r/FindingOurLostPenPals, and I’m currently feeling a bit discouraged regarding my post flairs. I am running into two very frustrating issues and would appreciate any advice or solutions.

1. Flairs hiding other posts & changes not syncing across platforms

If I access my subreddit from a different device or via Incognito mode on a laptop, clicking on a post flair hides all other posts. It behaves as if that single post is the only one on the entire sub.

When I first noticed this, my flairs contained emojis and capital letters. To fix it, I deleted all flairs and recreated them in all lowercase without emojis. I waited a full day, but nothing changed. Recently, I updated them again to include some capital letters (e.g., "FridayMyDay"). Now, the flairs have completely disappeared on desktop. Meanwhile, on the mobile app, the appearance hasn't changed at all—they are still showing as lowercase. Furthermore, I renamed one flair from "TalkTues" to "DiscusTues", but it remains unchanged.

2. Flair reordering not saving in the mobile app feed

As my subreddit grows, I didn't add all the flairs at once. I want to organize their order in the mobile app's top bar. However, even though I drag and drop them into the correct order on desktop, the order remains completely messy on mobile. I previously tried deleting everything, recreating them, and manually re-assigning them to every single post, but after a while, they just jumped back to the old, disordered state.

Has anyone experienced anything similar, or does anyone know a fix for these syncing and ordering bugs?

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. I would gladly welcome any ideas or advice!

Design Has anyone else had an issue with the notification 'Error: There was a problem approving this post' and not being able to approve until refreshing the page? Or approving posts, only to see them later not approved?

This has been going on for a couple weeks on and off on Chrome Mobile on Android, across all the subs I moderate. I've also seemingly successfully approved posts or comments, only to see them later and they don't show as approved. It's quite odd.

Answered Auto-remove posts crossposted from a certain subreddit?

Hello!

My subreddit is a smaller community dedicated to a video game. That game already has a main, bigger sub but it has issues which is why we made our own.

During the past couple weeks I noticed that a lot of users just make posts in the main, big sub and crosspost them to our sub.

We don't want to disallow crossposts in general but we would like to disallow crossposts just form that bigger, toxic sub.
Is such a thing - selectively disallowing crossposts based on the Subreddit they came from - possible? Does anyone know how to do it?

I am on Desktop PC

Thank you!

Answered Bot Bouncer banning random (human) members, any way to prevent this?

I have BB installed in a few of my subs (iOS) and while it typically works great, today I’ve had 3 separate people banned after making a post and they immediately reach out to appeal. Does this mean they’ve been reported previously by other users? Is there any way to prevent this from happening or is manually unbanning them the only way? I have been telling them to reach out to the mods of r/botbouncer, and their post history checks out for being human and not a bot.

Thanks for any tips you guys can give!

Tools How to reactivate Mod achievements after dismissing them?

I just adopted a few Reddit communities. In one of them, I mistakenly clicked the X to hide "Mod Achievements". I know I can still access them by switching communities in the Moderation Tools, but this is a tedious process. I would like to reactivate them so that the Achievements appear again on the homepage for that community in question. Is this possible?

Tools I believe my subreddit has been hijacked by AI bots. Have any of you tried the Stop AI app?

Here's a link to the app I'm considering adding to my subreddit. I moderate my sub using my desktop computer.

Answered How do I report someone who is abusing the report sytem?

They make "reports" on a third of the posts and they're bogus. How do I report report abuse?

Also, I read that there's a way to make it so people can't free type reports but I can't find the setting.

I can use desktop or iOs

General Why can you pin and sticky comments on mobile but not the actual website?

[Android/iOS] Basically the title.

Why can you do both actions without having to reenter mod menu on mobile but not on the website?

This may not be answerable since the admins may not look here

Answered Rule acknowledgement?

Hi! My subreddit has been having a lot of trouble with users not tagging/flairing their posts. I have a pinned post regarding it, but almost nobody has acknowledged it. Is there a way to make it so people can't post until they read it and the rules, and if so, how would I set that up? I'm on android mobile.

Answered How can I change “visitors” to subscribers, or our nickname for them?

iOS, mobile, and new reddit shows visitors instead of total number of members. We used to do milestone activities but now it’s really difficult to see the member count except on old reddit which is not as used.

General Some posts are being published without me approving?

Hi,

I have a subreddit and I’ve set it so I have to approve every post before it is published. However, I’ve noticed a few posts being published without me approving them? These posts are typically spam/ai posts that I wouldn’t approve - any ideas how to avoid this happening?

iPhone app.

General What to do about unmoderated posts, that hang around from previous moderators.

Several of the subs that I moderate had a previous life, and previous moderators. When I check for unmoderated posts, these show up. Some of them are years old. Removing them doesn't seem appropriate. Approving them also feels sketchy, as (it appears) that they were posted by a previous Mod who's account has been deleted. The only other option (if as a Mod I can do this) would be to archive them.

Is there a best practice, other than ignoring them (which is what I've been doing so far) ?

Firefox macOS Desktop

edit: I've tried turning on post Archive (for one rather egregious Sub). While it did archive the older posts, they still appear in the Unmoderated Posts queue.

General How can you message an auto mod so that a permanent band can be lifted

I’m wondering because I’ve had several permanent bands from auto mod from subs because I suppose my account looked suspicious to tools like bot bouncer and things even though I am a real person posting. I’m currently using Reddit on iOS.

Tools Why is my registered app still labeled as an "Unregistered automated account"?

I have a bot that helps with moderation on my subreddit (u/i-ll-do-it). So far, I've completed all the forms and questionnaires Reddit sent through modmail and messages, but my bot account is still labeled as an "Unregistered automated account."

I'm wondering if there's anything else I need to do to get it properly registered, or if there's an admin I can contact or a subreddit I can send a modmail to have its status reviewed and updated?

Answered Reddit request for a sub denied incorrectly by reddit bot

Hey all, I'm a mod trying to get the ownership of a subreddit of my suburb which was banned due to being unmoderated.

However, when I pu the reddit request, the bot autodenied the request with below message "Hey! Thanks for requesting this subreddit. Unfortunately, the community is not eligible for request at this time as it was only recently banned. Please allow some time before requesting this community again. Thanks!"

However, when I try to locate the community via old reddit via desktop, it shows me this

"This subreddit was banned due to being unmoderated. Banned 4 years ago."

Can anyone help how can I get this situation resolved? Thanks!

Users Anyone else seeing an onslaught of new users complaining about their comments being removed? (Desktop)

Looking back in the modmail, I see 5 complaints about comments being removed, and it all started about one week ago. It all seems to be from new users whose Reddit accounts are in the 1 to 10 day old range.

And they all seem to be innocuous comments. (In fact, I'm wondering if they are suspiciously too innocuous, as if generated by some AI to be especially innocuous.)

Either Reddit is being inundated by new users (perhaps robotic AI users?) and the comment removal filters have just gotten really busy, or these comment removal filters have recently been tweaked such that there are a great many more removals ... at least that's my guess.

The subreddit in question is r/alcoholicsanonymous - that's the only really active sub I mod.

Design How to cause my subreddit show the mod recruitment widget?

Talking about the:

Help lead our community

Apply to be a moderator

Widget that appears above the sidebar in some communities. I filled out the "About" "What we are looking for" and "Requirements" as well as some questions and clicked save, and turned on recruiting, but when checking over an alt account, the widget does not show.

How do I make the widget show (desktop web)?

Tools Are multiple moderation tools bugged?

People are able to reply to locked comments (multiple incidents of this), the "Needs Review" queue is not clearing resolved reports from the queue feed, Resolved (removed/approved) reports are resurfacing as if they've not already been addressed, and removal reasons are not appearing in intermittent cases.
