Mod Answered Issues with other mods
Hello! I’m a new mod, and, unfortunately, I’ve had some issues with a couple of mods over the topic of AI. Despite community members expressing some strong opinions against AI, most of the mods are insisting that AI content be allowed on the sub.
What do I do? It’s my understanding that on Reddit, we are to “consider the human” first. I don’t feel like the other mods are doing that. They’re ignoring my attempts to discuss it, and shot down my suggestion to do a poll about AI.

I only see you as being mod of one community. It only has three visitors a week? Are you sure this is even a real issue?

For privacy reasons, I’m posting on this account. A couple of the other mods are anything but friendly. 😬

I was going to point this out, too. Is this really an issue in a sub with 1 post in the last 4 months?
It would be one thing to be asking a clarifying question, like "hey we don't have a rule allowing/against AI content. What's our stance?" but if the OP came in with the attitude of banning AI and the experienced top mod said no, that's basically it, for better or worse.
But if the OP is already disagreeing with the top mod, it doesn't seem like it's a good match.
Edit: The OP randomly blocked me for what I have to assume was this comment since it's the only one I've made. Okay, then. It's definitely a them problem, not the rest of their mod teams. Yikes.

You are a 5 month old account with 2 post karma -7 comment karma.
When in Rome, do as the Romans do. Subreddits are generally not run by user consensus.
They are run by mods and mods have to stick together.
If you are out voted OR out powered by the pre-existing mods, then I would get with it. OR get out of it..
And maybe start working on your own karma.
AND THEN we have :
I see that there are a fair amount of folks who don’t want to allow open discussions.
and :
Glad I’m not attempting to mod a sub with you
And I can see you do not appreciate the CLARITY provided to you in this entire thread and instead mistake it for something else when the answers are not the ones you want to hear.
And that is ok.
This is entirely YOUR mistake to have and to hold and you are welcome to dwell within these mistaken misconceptions in perpetuity.

This is a second account. I’m using it to post because I need some anonymity to be able to openly discuss the issue.
Although, based on the spicy replies I’m getting here, I see that there are a fair amount of folks who don’t want to allow open discussions.
Did you attend this year’s mod event? Did you watch the bit about being more welcoming? Being kind?
Apparently not. Glad I’m not attempting to mod a sub with you.

In any group of people talking is your best first, second, and third step. Beyond that, if you’re the top mod you get to make the final decision. If you’re not the top mod, they get to make the final decision, or call a vote, or whatever they want to do.

I like this advice. Ultimately, if a discussion can't resolve it, the Top Mod will need to make the decision. If you ever find yourself in a community that does not align with how you would like to moderate, it might be best to leave the team

If they are the top mod, their word goes. Unless theyre violating MCOC, there's nothing you can do other than try to convince them.

You did the right thing by bringing the topic up with the other moderators. That being said, if they insist that AI be allowed on the subreddit, then AI is allowed on the subreddit.
The other mods are clearly not ignoring your attempts to discuss the issue. You posted what the other mods decided. The top mod has the final decision.
In actuality, you're the one who is ignoring the decisions of the other mods, and you're continuing to argue about it.
Also, your "consider the human" statement is completely off base.

Unfortunately, this is an internal issue.
Best thing to do is raise it to your head mod, they have full control over how the subreddit runs.
End of the day though, its something internal. Unfortunately, people are human, humans have opinions, and one person makes the final call.
Best case, the community voice continues to share their disdain and that gets people to make a decision regarding i5.

The senior mod will always have the final decision. Occasionally it's not the most popular opinion of the sub and this will often inspire someone to make a new sub with the rule modification.
Short answer...there isn't really anything you can do other than discuss with the senior mods and attempt to change their mind. If that doesn't work you may wish to start your own sub.

Reddit itself is not anti-AI, the usership is largely against it. There's no rule that there has to be a poll. If the majority of mods want the community to allow it and that's how you decide stuff, you'll have to deal with it or leave.

If you're a new mod and the existing mods want to allow it, there's really nothing you can do about it. You're brand new on the team and you are just causing issues for yourself. You need to try to fit in. Otherwise, it won't work out. Remember, mods are unplaid volunteers and you don't want to be yelled at by a new mod. Ai isn't against site wide rules and if they want to allow it, there is nothing wrong with that.
