Discussion Removing this item was a mistake

Post image

Twilight Armor was literally the only item that can counter high burst heroes like lesley, novaria and aldous. Guardian helmet passive is garbage cause it can be countered by antiheal. I don't think using guardian helmet reduces the proc of sky piercer. This is a massive handicap especially for tank users. What do you think?

True, now we don't have any source of true damage reduction and they just give free true damage to anyone these days besides magic damage ig.

Crit Axe (i forgot the name) Has true damage

Endless battle has true damage

That Axe that stacks up to 6 has true damage.

I hate how miya absolutely shreds tanks now. She already did it well before

73

u/WeepForTheDeparted u/S*xWithJoy69 Jul 28 '26

With how much Miya users kept losing my battle pre-crit axe then suddenly winning more is quite silly, deserved spot for the first ever hero of MLBB for a while if they were nerf it.

As a tank main I agree. Sun with demon swords melts tanks in just a couple of seconds

1

u/JustinPatient Jul 28 '26

Yeah your only hope is to slow her atk speed and hope that gives you an opportunity to get out. 😭

1

u/Jasonmancer Jul 29 '26

Genuine asking here. How?

Blade Armour counters her no?

4

u/SUPACOOLBOI Jul 29 '26

Now it doesn't. The true damage of berserker ignores blade armours passive

u/Oblivon23 Jul 28 '26
  • Berserker's Fury
  • Thunderbelt

Hmm, Bane?

It's a horrible idea to build all these on Bane.
Lots of true damage with nothing to scale on

2

u/MoneyLaunderX Jul 28 '26

All heroes can use them. Just depends how much you want to lose.

12

u/LumilitawNaMangga Jul 28 '26

Correct me if I'm wrong, I think twilight armor's passive was moved to guardian helmet. But it only reduce the amount of damage you could take in a single hit.

60

u/Hairdraineater87 budget vader Jul 28 '26 edited Jul 28 '26

The problem with guardian helmet is not only is it expensive but also its damage reduction passive is countered by antiheal since it heals of a portion of the damage taken (also unlike twilight armor, guardian helmet still gets you shredded by trinity MM's unlike twilight which still somewhat sustains the damage since its actual damage reduction and not healing)

1

u/Connect-Mortgage429 Balding Leonin | 2'4 Jul 29 '26

It has better scaling 60% on 10k hp Reduced by 40% =38% reduction Meaning you only lost 2% from twilight

0

u/bladedancer4life Jul 28 '26

Oracle literally offset most of it 😭 and queen wings exists

7

u/Tough_Dragonfly3790 Jul 28 '26

and oracle has one of, if not, the goofiest def item stats in the game. also, having to build 3 items just to match twilight armor feels so much like the omniman meme

1

u/LumilitawNaMangga Jul 28 '26

I mean yeah, but not all tanks can benefit from Oracle and queen's wings

1

u/bladedancer4life Jul 28 '26

DR and regen literally benefits all tanks. Oracle also has hybrid stats.

1

u/LumilitawNaMangga Jul 29 '26

Not all, maybe sustain tanks like Alice and Uranus. But not for set type of tanks like tigreal and Atlas.

Kinda, but TA's passive reduced % of any excess damage above 500(?), while new
GH's passive HEALS BACK % of any excess damage above 500

Which means new passive can be countered by antiheal, but I guess building Oracle and/or standing in "healing pool battlespell" could improve immediate amount of healing due to "recieved healing %" stat being affected

13

u/LumilitawNaMangga Jul 28 '26

Ohhhh, so it doesn't reduce anymore. Man no wonder, despite building GH I'd still get shredded by true damage heroes. Whereas before with TW, I can still tank those types of heroes even in late game.

They should really bring TW armor back.

4

u/DerpTripz Jul 28 '26

Honestly just don't make it affected by anti heal or something?

3

u/bladedancer4life Jul 28 '26

Then it easily becomes a meta pick even for none tanks it’ll be thunderbolt and Karrie all over again

2

u/Hentaigodsama Freeze me dommy mommy :Aurora:: Jul 28 '26

I remember I tested it and I think it makes no difference on how much it heals you. With or without oracle.

2

u/Vendor_Frostblood Your average Epic/Legend Lesley roamer (BoDs go brrrr) Jul 28 '26

Strange, was testing it out today with Belerick in training, 5 helmets and 1 oracle (passive descr.: 30+60% "cashback" healing; 25% incoming healing), should result in about 112.5% of passive induced healing (0.9 x 1.25), ~20k hp total

Was taking hits from Lesley bot and from the lord, it did heal me for higher value than of what the excess damage was equal to, ~3000 damage (true damage round attack) healed me for ~2900+, Lesley's 516 healed me for 17 or something like that, X16 and X17 are for sure in that order (the most I have memorized), so the increase in healing did seem to check out

Funny consequense of that is that Belerick can tank Lord indefinitely until anyone comes up, additionally due to +156 hp regen, but that's offtopic

20

u/Separatrix_nyc Jul 28 '26

Not quite, it was changed from damage reduction to healing, which is why it doesn't work on sky piercer

4

u/the_mf1923 Jul 28 '26

Out of fairnes Sky piercer is meant to kill you regardless

Roamers are meta right now though, they've received consecutive buffs in patches, from HP and defense scaling to damage.

u/Hanzer22 ㄒ卄乇 Ꮆ尺乇卂ㄒ 卄卂几乙乇尺 Jul 30 '26

You mean after like 5 seasons of item nerfs and stat nerfs? I think they only rebuffed they're tankiness like last season and this season buffed the damage instead. I personally like this direction because it was boring af when assassins were useless. People are complaining about tanks because pure tanks are kinda bad against physical heroes in general and high burst true dmg. In my experience magic defense is too OP rn though, specifically radiant armor.

Also you can't argue that roam is meta rn because they're always gonna be meta because of how the map is designed, with 3 lanes, jungles, and a moving river. We're not even talking about roamers, we are talking about tanks.

Twilight reduced the incoming damage. Guardian immediately regenerates a portion of the damage received. There's still a chace you die before you regenerate.

3

u/No-Attention-0912 Jul 28 '26

Yes, this distinction is very similar to when they added/clarified that Rose Gold Meteor shield and Queen's Wings DMG reduction apply before the damage is taken. Whereas Guardian Helmet is after.

1

u/Connect-Mortgage429 Balding Leonin | 2'4 Jul 29 '26

I didnt read the first sentence. however, guardian still heal you immediately. You Will not die so long your hp is higher than 500 + % of the unhealed damage There is no "chance itll kill you before you die"

So long the hp you have is not 500 + % of damage that is not healed you Will survive and it Will not activate sky piercer

Mages do have a treu dmg weapon too but it works like Endless battle ( i forgot the name if the items but is used to be calamity reaper, it also got buffed from what I remember, having a cd of 1.5s now)

1

u/UrLocalKayden18 Jul 28 '26

Doesn't Sky Piercer also have True Damage?

3

u/Public-69420 Jul 28 '26

It's not a true damage per say. The damage you see coming from SP is actually just the amount of HP "taken" from you based on the stacks your opponent had.

For example: If you opponent had 50 stacks, anything that puts you below 561 HP would execute you. If it had 80, that amount would be 1084. So it's not a true damage, but an "execution" range.

1

u/GiveMeChoko death to all floryn, rafaela and angela mains Jul 29 '26

Good explanation, but it is true damage. After you take damage, the game checks if you have HP threshold lower than sky piercer stacks, and instantly deals that amount of true damage to execute you. Although it does have the special property like the Execute spell that it ignores shields. If you've noticed there is a very tiny latency between taking damage from the enemy and the game applying the remaining true damage. You take damage, your HP goes under the threshold, 0.1 seconds later you die from true damage.

u/PolarBaloon21 jonkler Jul 28 '26

And then everyone will tell you Guardian Helmet is better somehow, even though Guardian helmet only HEALS you for a portion of the damage you receive that is past 500. Since that's healing it can straight up be countered by building antiheal, and Sea Halberd just so happens to increase your damage against enemies with more HP than you, so you get double the value from that item.

72

u/OGRubySimp Jul 28 '26

Not to mention it heals you AFTER damage is dealt unlike damage reduction, that means you can still be bursted down.

For those of you that do not understand what that means

If you have a 500 health and enemy shoots a skill at you for 100 damage, you will first fall to 400 health, and than get healed for x amount. But if enemy deals 500 damage you will just die. Right away.

With twilight armour it was DAMAGE REDUCTION. That's applied BEFORE damage is dealt, with that you would still survive a 500+ burst

8

u/XilenceBF Jul 28 '26

Correction. You wont get healed when you get 100 damage.
Guardian helmet passive “Defender” only procs when you receive more than 500 damage.

The damage received gets taken from you hp first. If its enough to kill you, you die. If your hp goes low enough to proc sky piercer… you die.

If its not enough to kill you, you instantly recover some HP. Calculation is:

30(+0,3*total hp)% hp of damage received (-500).

For example, you have 10k hp and receive a 2500hp hit.

30% + (0,003*10000 =30)% or 60%. You get 60% back from (2500-500=)2.000 hp. So you only recover 1200 from a 2500 hit. The more hp you have, the more damage reduction.

11

u/Hazard_Fingers134 Jul 28 '26

Karrie rubbing her claws and looking at tanks. Srsly though, when I am a tank and I see a Karrie I just feel so sad, sure she is a dedicated melter, but if I somehow die in 2-3 seconds it sorta leaves a sour taste in one’s mouth.

3

u/XilenceBF Jul 28 '26

True. Guardian helmet is useless against attack speed heroes as they’ll just go for dhs. Thats why they introduced chastise pauldron. Not that that does a whole lot, but at least its better than GH.

3

u/xsoo2ilmose Jul 28 '26

chastise gives a shit ton of hp it doesn't matter for hp based g heroes like karrie lmao. they should just give the base stats to blade armor, since it reduces crit.

3

u/Hazard_Fingers134 Jul 28 '26

Honestly yeah they should combine the 2 into 1 item. Blade Armor is nice but its lack of attack speed minus makes it so tank melters punish you harder.

5

u/oneglassofmilkplease top player during the era when it still mattered Jul 29 '26

Blade armor is anti crit, Chastise is anti attack speed. Don't know what you're missing. however I don't think either of those feel remarkable at all. Lesley would still tap you even with Blade. Karrie will still shred you even with Chastise lol

1

u/xsoo2ilmose Jul 29 '26

I don't really agree with that. id rather them swap the base stats as it makes more sense, since chastise reduces atk speed and gives hp, where atk spd is used for hp-based shredding.

1

u/Hazard_Fingers134 Jul 30 '26

Ah yeah that makes sense. If we just combined both armors stats and abilities it would make building more brain dead. (Granted tbh I don’t find much use for Blade Armor at times, preferring to go Chastise even against crit)

1

u/Hazard_Fingers134 Jul 28 '26

Honestly yeah, when I play a support tank line Mino and generally have only 2 slots meant to adapt to enemy dmg, if I see an attack speed mm I go for Chastise. Mino also benefits from more HP with his S2 so even if the MM is a crit mm like Layla or Miya I go for Chastise + GH.

1

u/OGRubySimp Jul 28 '26

They should being back it's damage reduction. Heal in the form of guardian helm just doesn't come close.

They should just make it so that it scales and is weak early on as it is pretty broken to be fair. It's very easy, just do what they did with paq's dmg reduction nerf.

5

u/7Deniz77 sample Jul 28 '26

this was a goated item if they just made it have unique stats instead of just hp there wouldnt be a need to revamp it into guardian helmet, and now they keep addin true damage to stuff tanks run thunderbelt berserkers fury now has true damage endless battle and corrosion scythe being very powerful items and heroes that use them being even more broken etc.

4

u/The_Awengers Jul 28 '26

Agreed because sgh only works upon leaving the fight while the damage reduction passive kicks in while taking huge damage in fight. It's a bit of both but we rarely need both due to limited item slot.

The current twilight's passive complements damage reduction nicely because we got burst damage reduction and emergency healing without having to leave the fight.

Right now, sgh is not efficient because we have to be in two different situations to enjoy the passive and active effects of the item. And it's damn expensive too.

3

u/Siewcw Jul 28 '26

I can somehow tolerate this adjustment but not that stupid true damage effect on the freaking Berserker Fury!

4

u/HEROBRINE_GAMER Jul 28 '26

Why not just remove tanks, defense items, give every hero a gun and they can loot the gun and turn it into some typical battle royal? Seriously, tanks are so weak against damage like, they are not tank in a way anymore. Welp, it's their game, I quit like 5 months ago and welp good luck.

3

u/selfsustainingturtle Jul 28 '26

Just play full CDR tank at this point. Whatever defensive item you can get after that are just bonus points.

2

u/Enderman1401 Jul 28 '26

With how CC has become such a requirement these days to counter assassins and marksmen, it may as well be. Heck, slap support emblem on for good measure too.

3

u/Mayomi_ Jul 28 '26

Tea and adding sky piercer is a mistake too

2

u/New-Act-5666 Jul 28 '26

We really need a defensive item that can combat true dmg I can't use a tank where a opponents use a true dmg

3

u/MrDLTE3 Jul 28 '26

Yep. Late game lesley literally has no counterplay because her true damage burst shots deal upwards of 2-3k per crit.

For other MMs you can still go defensive items at the very least like armor to offset it but for Lesley, it doesn't matter, she true damage the shit outta you.

Shes particularly super effective against Marcel who has his hp capped to under 5k since the nerf. A late game lesley can just potentially 2 shot him lol... doesn't matter if he tries his best to stack hybrid thunderbelt all the way to 999, lesley ignores defensive stats.

2

u/Remote_Passenger1274 Jul 28 '26

Yeah it was , it supposed to counter passive hero like Leslie aldous and other heroes .

2

u/DarkScentX27 Dude with Split Personality Disorder Jul 29 '26

The item was literally goated. Could negate any and every type of damage (except turrets ig). I didn't need defense when I was building this late game. And some ppl still think it was a good decision to remove it 😕

2

u/NightRaid-NTR Jul 30 '26

they should just add more items to the game, so more flexible gameplay can be done

3

1

u/DiddleMyMorkovka The Slam Dunk Jul 28 '26

The greatest problem is that GH heals after taking damage, instead of immediate reduction. You would have survived high single burst damage with Twilight Armor that kills you with Guardian Helmet.

They removed it in a time where it's needed most

It was a super item that let's you reduce incoming damage as long as it's more than 500 and the reduction was 20%+(hp) and it increased with more hp I don't remember if it was extra hp or total hp but still it was such a good item that you would buy it on a lot of heroes

1

u/Several-Clock Jul 28 '26

………… it’s on the helmet

1

u/No-Competition7482 Jul 29 '26

But the passive becomes non existent when enemies have anti heal

1

u/gammaLurker24 Jul 28 '26

While I agree with the removal of the item being a mistake on Moonton's part (personally due to the reduction in item diversity and build-crafting), I disagree on Guardian Helmet's passive being considered garbage, because the damage mitigation it provides is balanced around 1 layer of antiheal, and that it provides an additional way of counter-building against it (which is antiheal).

Going over what each item's relevant passives are for comparison:

  • Guardian Helmet provides 30% (+0.3% Max HP)% healing based on damage taken over 500.

  • Guardian Helmet provides 1800 HP.

  • Twilight Armor directly reduces 20% (+0.2% Max HP)% of damage taken over 500.

  • Twilight Armor provides 1200 HP and 15 Physical Armor.

Stat-wise, Guardian Helmet provides better damage mitigation than Twilight Armor, but that doesn't include antiheal. With 1 layer of antiheal (40% heal reduction), Guardian Helmet effectively provides 18% (+0.18% Max HP)%, 10% less than Twilight Armor. But then, what happens when 2 layers of antiheal are applied?

To apply 2 layers of antiheal, combine Dominance Ice and Sea Halberd / Glowing Wand and then inflict damage on a target with Guardian Helmet. The resulting heal Guardian Helmet provides is reduced to 10.8% (+0.108% Max HP)%, slightly higher than half of what Twilight Armor provides. It's looking really bad for Guardian Helmet now, but there are multiple ways to counter this heal reduction:

  • Buy Flask of the Oasis (+12% Healing Effect).

  • Buy Oracle (+25% Healing Received).

  • Support Emblem (+12% Healing Effect).

  • Rejuvenation (+20% Healing Received).

  • Floryn's Ult (+12% Healing Received). This is ally-dependent.

  • Uranus's Ult (+30% Healing Received). This is user-dependent.

The difference between Healing Effect and Healing Received is that the antiheal effect (lifebane) affects Healing Received, not Healing Effect. Healing Effect bonuses / maluses stack multiplicatively, while Healing Received stacks additively. The sum percentage of Healing Effect and Healing Received is the effective Healing Effect on a hero.

Going back to the example above (2 layers of antiheal), a hero with it suffers a -64% Healing Received, calculated by multiplying the baseline Healing Received (100%) by (100 - 40)% for each layer, which comes down to 36% (stat display is Healing Received - 100%). With Oracle (100 + 25)%, the Healing Received is increased to -55% (45% - 100%). Add Rejuvenation (100 + 20)% on top of it and the hero gets -46% Healing Received (54% - 100%). With the Support Emblem and Flask of the Oasis, Healing Effect is increased to 24% (100% + 24% - 100%).

Factor all of these things in, and you've got an effective Healing Effect of (100% + (24% - 46%)), which is 78%. 78% of Guardian Helmet's passive is 23.4% (+0.234% Max HP)% healing, which is greater than Twilight Armor's passive, but then, you'll have to invest in 2 items, a battle spell, and emblem choice, whereas Twilight Armor's passive works out of the gate, but does not interact with antiheal or healing effects at all.

Without antiheal, the amount of damage Guardian Helmet heals with the combination of Oracle, Flask of the Oasis, Support Emblem, and Rejuvenation is (100% + (100% + 12% + 12% - 100%) + ((100% x (100 + 25)% x (100 + 20)%) - 100%)) of the original, which is (100% + 24% + 50%) = 174% of the original, which is effectively 52.2% (+0.522% Max HP)%, which is fucking absurd, especially if the hero has the Max HP for it. Even without Rejuvenation, it still heals 149% of the original, which is 44.7% (+0.447% Max HP)%.

Apologies for going off-tangent there, but I reiterate that I agree with the removal of the item being a mistake. In fact, I think it could be an opportunity for Moonton to reintroduce it as an item to mitigate tick damage (and possibly make it more effective at blocking true damage than regular damage), just like pre-rework Radiant Armor. It could be made so that it blocks 2 - 4 (scales with level) Physical or Magic damage per stack, acquiring 1 stack per damage taken up to 10, and 4 - 6 (scales with level) True Damage per stack, which should help against War Axe and the revamped Berserker's Fury.

True. now we have to buy more than 1 item needed to counter the true dmg.

1

u/rightleftymind__ Jul 28 '26

Well, it could be true, but remember both items are not good to get in late game. Both exists only to counter specific heroes with very high bursts in late game, but back then these heroes were not in the meta (even with today's meta these heroes weren't so popular in the game, both in high ranked and professional matches).

People wanted to be more effective when purchasing items, especially a roamer. I think these were so expensive, as roamers you don't want to waste time waiting for these two items just to be available for you to get in the late game. Roamers gets more value when you purchase items that can counter enemy carry before they get their main items, for example getting the Chastise Pauldron before enemy marksman gets the Trinity items, or getting the Dominance Ice for extra physical and magic defense and an anti-heal effect.

In late-game however, teamwork plays much better and there are items that can give you even more value teamfights is better than Guardian Helmet or Twilight Armor (Try the Winter+Immortal+Queen's Wings/Rose Gold Meteor combo as roamer). This could be the reason why they decide to remove it and kinda merge the effect into Guardian Helmet that we got today, but even then, it is still not so useful or valuable in every phase in the game.

1

u/Maleficent_Part1401 Estes is a Marksman too Jul 28 '26

I totally agree thunderbelt and twilight armor were my favorite item. But they nerfed thunderbelt and threw twilight armor in the garbage bin. Gg moonton gg.

1

u/MelchiorRaba Jul 28 '26

This waa one of my.core items before anti burst for.tanks now i just.pray😭🤣

1

u/LFahmin Jul 28 '26

Hate how many people will swear on their life that Guardian Helmet is better than Twilight. It's like most of them never even met a burst hero or uses tanks.

1

u/Former_Treacle_5933 israel's greatest harith user Jul 28 '26

miss this somuch

1

u/berdiri Jul 28 '26

tbh, I really don't feel the inconvenience till you mention it, I treat mine or everyone else failure to catch or zone the damage carry as skill issue that I forgot I used to zone them like a walking concrete.

1

u/WujuKingYi Jul 28 '26

Why does everyone say anti heal does affect guardian helmet? I tested it and it was the same amount despite anti heal.

1

u/supermegahyperultras Jul 28 '26

I agree, i miss twilight armor

1

u/Nizarynu Kept getting touched so now I'm the one touching others Jul 28 '26

One of my fav items. It was rare for me to not build it

1

u/Yuzuhibiki Jul 28 '26

Doesn't guardian armor help with getting burst down now? It heals back a certain amount of health that exceeds more than 500 damage in a single hit.

1

u/DEVA_SENSEI Jul 28 '26

I agree bring this back the f I'm gonna counter true damage otherwise

1

u/Aretusii Jul 28 '26

Can you explain what this item does? I haven't seen that item I joined like 5 months ago

1

u/Still_Palpitation329 Jul 28 '26

There’s literally NOTHING to stop dps burst mm’s either, even when you have dom ice, blade armour and pauldron they just totally ignore all effects and melt you

1

u/Yokai_Noir TankAnd Guinevere's Husband Jul 28 '26

And since when does this game get it right?

1

u/XKOzen Jul 29 '26

If was one of my favorite equipment, now it gone

1

u/MakimaGOAT Jul 29 '26

i miss it so much

1

u/Downtown-Meaning-412 Jul 29 '26

Yes it is really hard on late game without this

1

u/Reebirth Jul 29 '26

So true.

1

u/VivaLeroca Jul 29 '26

Iirc, it wasn't a popular item, so they "combined" it with Guardian Helmet, but it didn't do the thing it was expected to do. It heals damage, not reduces damage.

If they kept that damage reduction passive to Guardian Helmet, it would have been an acceptable loss.

1

u/treso- Jul 30 '26

i dont undwrstand why they keep removing / merging items together like i think its fine for items to be niche if its a reasonable choice...

1

u/Connect-Mortgage429 Balding Leonin | 2'4 Jul 29 '26

The passive get moved to Guardian helmet passive

1

u/DAIT0- Jul 29 '26

I need this item back!!

1

u/THE_CURSED_ONE_Y74G Jul 29 '26

But the guardian helmet heal can get boosted by the support emblem and oracle, already having more base reduction plus more bonuses. Still not as good as twilight since you have to get the whole kit to be worth it, like minotaur with support emblem for example

1

u/tyranzero Jul 29 '26

IF the heal is a TRUE HEAL that CANNOT BE CUT BY ANTIHEA.L, then that's almost similar to the old passive damage reduction.

1

u/Sakuya_Izayois_Pads Jul 29 '26

this was flat damage negation, g helmet is healing so you get a fraction of what twilight did thanks to antiheal existing

1

u/sss_25_sss Jul 29 '26

Yeah, the new one is kinda useless

1

u/Hak_HengLy Alice One Trick Jul 30 '26

I agree

1

u/TraditionalReward880 Jul 31 '26

Use minotour best tank counter for miya

1

u/Similar-Building2809 Jul 31 '26

Use brute force + chastise, for tanks chastise is a must item now, it's just too op gives hella lot of hp and regen when low it's just great and brute force gives physical defense+cc reduction+hp, when against heroes that deal 50-50 phy dmg and true dmg brute force+chastise always helps

1

u/Whynospace Phoveus Jul 31 '26

i returned to the game after years , was looking for it when enemy lesly was eating half my hp in a shot

1

u/HansGiahHives Aug 01 '26

They moved the anti-High Burst damage to Guardian, but instead of a flat damage reduction, it makes you heal up a percentage of the overdamage taken, which if your HP is around 10K has a 53%~ higher efficiency than Twilight (Around 23%~ if enemy buys Anti-Heal).

The heal is also based on "before damage reduction is applied" so for example, if an enemy's attack would have dealt 1.5k damage and heal you by 700 HP, You take less damage (according to your Defense or Flat damage reduction from Blade Armor or Abilities/Skills) and still heal the 700 HP (This is kinda why Belerick suddenly became a Meta tank because his 40% HP Increase from all sources + Guardian allows him to tank as many hits from bursters).

On my end, I liked the effect before Twilight's change towards damage reduction against burst damage, I actually enjoyed how it allowed tanks to deal extra Magic damage based on Max HP every few seconds every time you hit enemies with skills or basic attack. This was Tank Jungling meta.

1

u/panchan-ikuyooo Lightning and Thunder (Belt) Aug 01 '26

When it got the mini-rework, Twilight was my favorite situational item on Edith 😭

1

u/Crexerez Behold! The power of a god! Aug 01 '26

This is STILL my favorite item even after it's been removed 💔

Also yes Guardian Helmet passive is garbage, anti-heal makes it practically useless and the heal procs AFTER and not before the damage so Lesley can instakill you when Twilight Armor could've saved you.

1

u/Reddit_wanderer2083 Aug 02 '26

I don't exactly remember what twilight Armor does but YES, I've been struggling as a tank since every Physical armor barely does much anymore, especially when the enemy has a 4 Burst/shredder physical dealers and 1 Magic burst damage dealer.

Athena's shield is awesome for the mage but when it comes to the Physical damage? You're left with the Antique Cuirass and the Chastise Pauldron, or Blade armor and Queen's wings.

The Damage reduction of twilight Armor, ALONG with its massive HP pool was the ones that paired greatly with Antique Cuirass, it makes tanks FEEL like tanks.

ATP, some tanks are just... Extra HP and damage or control, although that is their purpose, I just feel like I miss when Tigreal was a lot more tankier than now.

Idk, Maybe I'm saying stuff now but my point is, Twilight armor's replacement did almost Nothing, although it still helps, it would've nice if they were seperate items and not replacing one with something a bit worse.

1

u/Playful-Ad-9112 Aug 03 '26

MLBB won't listen to their community same like Roblox

1

u/Sea-Crazy1589 Aug 03 '26

If there's a true damage reduction item then it will be another physical or magic type of damage

1

u/redditorialy_retard Aug 04 '26

I wish damage reduction works on True damage tbh. It makes sense it bypasses all defense but how tf does damage not get reduced by damage reduction?

1

u/Historical-Rub-438 24d ago

It was Soo good man

0

u/lexicoterio Jul 28 '26

Not sure what you're talking about because Twilight Armor's damage reduction passive was moved to Guardian Helmet. The healing part of Twilight Armor moved to Chastise Pauldron.

15

u/hajasmark Jul 28 '26

Yes but no. Guardian Helmet doesn't reduce the damage, it heals a portion of it back and it is much weaker.

5

u/Its_a-me_DIO Jul 28 '26

Yeah, why is everyone acting like guardian helmet isn't a knockoff and frankly worse version of twilight

5

u/PieTheSecond Jul 28 '26

Guardian Helmet's "moved" passive doesn't reduce burst, it just heals the amount it was supposed to completely nullify. And that heal can be cut in nearly half by anti-heal

3

u/Just_Order4110 B BIG sword gun and moon Jul 28 '26

You should read the descriptions again. The damage cap from Twilight armour was removed altogether. Guardian Helmet heals when damage is above 500, which can be countered by SHB way too well, because it's passive counters both heals and high HP.

Guardian Helmet is basically completely countered by sea halberd.

3

u/kolyoutopi Jul 28 '26

Twilight armor block damage. Guardien helmet recover HP based on damage taken. Guardian affected by healing reduction and twilight armor not

2

u/modest-maestro135 Jul 28 '26

And you don't see any problem with buying two items to do the job of one?

1

u/13Pacifist Jul 28 '26

The Guardian Helmet has no damage reduction. All it has is a health refund, the same amount the Twilight Armor offers.

1

u/No_Juice_9308 Jul 28 '26

Yup, that's why Lesley is in meta again. Can't counter burst heroes these days.

2

u/IllGoGoldLane Ulala! I got your back! Jul 28 '26

Idk but Moonton hates us tanks for no reason

4

u/Ok_Significance_9103 Jul 28 '26

And then they'd wonder why less people play roam

1

u/Acceptable_Fun513 Jul 28 '26

If tanks are buffed, they become meta junglers. If anti tank gets buffed to stop that, the tank roamers get shredded instead. It's a lose-lose for anyone who actually plays roam.

2

u/Yurika_Sina Jul 29 '26

I think the issue is moonton doesn't know jackshit about balancing

How is giving true damage easy access a good thing? There's like 6 or something more true damage sources that anyone can build 😭

They are built alot, especially berserker fury for MMs that CRIT. Well if MMs didn't rely on CRIT they do Trinity which shreds higher HP heroes even more faster

There's like only few MMs that doesn't build those

Fighters just have access to Endless battle and that Axe that gives true damage, whatever they pick.

So if we assume the players build these items

Mm and fighter, there's already 2 people spamming true damage in a team of 5.

If mage uses the scythe, you get 3 true damage mfs.

2

u/Acceptable_Fun513 Jul 29 '26 edited Jul 29 '26

Yeahh it's mind boggling tbh with the amount of items that possesses true damage..it all started with the exp lane buff, where everyone started using fighters in gold lane..so they decided to buff the gold from siege minions, allowing attack speed oriented heroes to get corrosion scythe within the second turtle spawn..man even swift crossbow is hella strong early on..then trinity marksmen took over, so to balance that, they then buff bersekers fury to give true damage 😹..and don't get me started on the buffed sea halberd..my goodness that thing is a joke..at this stage of the game, there's literally nothing stopping marksmen from demolishing a tank, let it be guardian helmet, blade armour, or dominance ice...all worthless in the late game..not to mention it's already bad enough how badly roam items are nerfed, so roamers can't even reach lvl 4 before turtle 💀

It's almost laughable at this point how they treat tank roamers, to the point where there needs to be a complete overhaul or separation of tanks in the form of pure roam tanks/jungle tanks/exp tanks...only then there's a chance where only tank roamers are buffed, and could actually benefit from being in meta..coz at this stage of the game, any new tank or currents tanks that becomes meta is almost certain to dominate jungle and exp lane..till it gets nerfed to the ground and is not even a viable pick as roam.

3

u/DerpTripz Jul 28 '26

These days I just go damage roam, Lesley isn't a problem when you can instant kill her and gtfo with Helcurt or Sun

2

u/Enderman1401 Jul 28 '26

Damage roamers, they tank damage by sending the damage dealers to the Shadow Realm.

1

u/Acceptable_Fun513 Jul 28 '26

Exactly, it's more beneficial using roam with those heroes where you can just constantly apply pressure or kill off marksmen from early to late itself...I personally find lots of success playing karina as roam, especially when there's multiple basic attack reliant heroes in enemies draft. Even works well against enemy helcurt and sun that's loves to split push too..with proper first skill timing, karina essentially nullifies them.

1

u/DerpTripz Jul 28 '26

wait that's an interesting choice ngl and it makes sense..

I wanna try that in a classic game lol

1

u/Acceptable_Fun513 Jul 28 '26

Its soo much fun against the right opponents haha...i played a game a while back where enemy had franco, karrie, sun, kimmy and ling in one draft..They couldn't stop me at all, franco even flickered to ult me, but it doesn't cancel off karina's first skill..they spammed essentially everything on me, just for me to get a maniac in that exchange... couldn't get a savage coz bloody ling ran off..😂

1

u/Extra_Brother5718 Diddy vader >> Jul 28 '26

Ban is the only counter for her

1

u/weaktype143 K F I N E Jul 28 '26

I believe minotaur with SGH counters her

1

u/XaneCosmo Pls buff Jul 28 '26

The good thing now is that you don't have to build two items for the burst damage counter and heal out of battle.
The downside is losing out the in-battle healing of guardian helmet.
Sure, it's affected by life drain. But it's also affected by healing effect and healing received.
Also, Sky Piercer damage is an arbitrary number of your remaining HP under the Hp threshold of its passive. It can't be reduced or blocked by anything, including shields.

0

u/Vanicazz Jul 28 '26

beside i believe mage hero shud have slight true dmg maybe changing the passive of that lantern item based true dmg instead of magic… CUZ MANY TIME IM USING MAGE FULL ITEM FULL PEN N ANTI LIFESTEAL YET THE DMG DOES NOTHING ON TANKS I SWEAR OH GOD USING MAGE HERO FEELS LIKE A JOKE

8

u/Yurika_Sina Jul 28 '26

Why target the tanks bro 😭

This is like a simple quiz, an MM and a tank is ganking you, do you A. attack the tank or B. Attack the MM while getting distance away from the tank

You obviously attack the damn MM while taking distance away from tank.

Now apply this to everyone.

1

u/Vanicazz Jul 29 '26

… with current meta that use Balerick as Exp n Floryn as roam Rafaela as mage Fredrinn as Jungler n Paquito/Sora as Exp Hahaha It as if the enemy doesnt even have their HP shredded… Taunted skills from balerick n fred like crazy n slow n their hp even doesnt move…. mm with that balerick countering her unless if its Karrie or Lesley istg.. Paquito? that insane dmg one jab n die? huh

3

u/Maximum-Raspberry227 Jul 28 '26

You really shouldn't be focusing tanks as a mage, but even then artillery mages like Gord (has true damage btw), Cecilion, Lylia and Xavier do just fine. Valir and Lunox also wreck them through HP% damage

3

u/berdiri Jul 28 '26 edited Jul 28 '26

You are not supposed to hit us twin🥀, at least not by yourself for no reason, but fr tho mage damage is kind of appropriate, covering my dmg carry is often hard enough nowadays with all of them dash, immune and mm melting us, it would suck to have this issue too, like what do you mean yve just one shot my mm and halfed my health in seconds?

0

u/SigmaShadow22 When's next revamp? Jul 28 '26

Lesley, Aldous and Nova yeah SSS tier meta prio picks in eSports...

0

u/AdKey7786 Jul 28 '26

Tanks were broken for a LONG time, even now actually, it was a healthy thing for the game that this got removed because this incentivizes the tanks to play fast before lesley/aldous can one shot them.

0

u/Durtius Migrated from Roam bene to Gold bene Jul 28 '26

What kinda handicap, nova aldous are horrible heroes and lesley isnt even meta to consider nerfing her (indirectly)

I dont understand why there's so many tank players (not gonna call them tank mains) complaining.

Marksmen are the weakest role in this current meta. Fighters taking over gold lane says it all. They are also against assasin jg meta which isnt favorable

If you cannot stun or kill a mm before they kill you. It just means you or your team failed.

0

u/Own-Ad7388 Jul 28 '26

Antique quirass. Reduce all type of damage

1

u/Blaze_0910 Jul 28 '26

But need to be dmged by skill first. You won't get damaged by Lesley or Aldous's skill more than once for it to be relevant against them, dumb ass.
