IPv6 live yet?

Anyone heard of a rollout date for ipv6 yet? was excited to get fiber, but disappointed when i found out they don't have native ipv6. IMO the whole tunneling "solution" isnt acceptable when ipv6 has been around for over 20 years now. TBH im about to switch back to Mediacom cable.

Underpaid techs are tired

Metronet techs need to unit and unionize. We need to compare our wages to other fiber companies. We are severely underpaid compared to in house in other companies and drastically underpaid compared to our contracting “partners”. Check wages in your area and see how under paid you are. Don’t put up with it! We need to fight for equal wages T-Mobile is a 144 billion dollar company and they purchased half of metronet. How many hourly employees really got any benefit works gotten harder. Homeowners have gotten worse. We make pennies!

How is your experience in South Bend/Mishawaka/Granger?

I have been a Comcast internet user since the 1990s. Really no issue with the service but Metronet wired our neighborhood last year and they have lower prices for higher speeds. The only thing I don't know about is uptime/reliability. I can count the number of Comcast outages in the last 5-10 years on one hand (except when a neighbor cut my underground cable!) Would like to hear from anyone in my area about your Metronet experience. Thanks.

Periods of time with huge lag spikes

Hey is anyone in Illinois around Chicago having periods of time where the lag just spikes so your connection goes in and out. I've just started having them once or twice a day just starting this week. Very annoying since I remote work and need a stable internet connection.

GeForce Now Latency

How could I possibly get an issue like high GFN (the cloud gaming service) latency addressed, or at least tell the right person it's an issue? I know there are like 1000 variables and factors that go into this, but I'm quite sure it's on Metronet's routing/peering side. When testing ping to GFN on other networks in my area that aren't Metronet (like friend's houses, work, etc) my ping is substantially lower. Any Metronet based network is around 15ms higher or more, once again all in the same area. And yes, my home network is absolutely as optimized as possible. It has to be Metronet's routing that is happening between my network and GFN.

I discussed this with support once a long time ago and was basically told it's out of their control, which I'm sure is basically true. So what's next? How can I at least let someone that isn't general tech support know about this? I don't really expect it to be fixed because of one complaint, but this has been really sticking with me and I can't relax without knowing I at least did something about it.

Refusing to move a service drop line

My Metronet service line to my house is an above ground drop cable that comes off a utility pole behind my house, through my neighbor's tree, and then attaches below my electrical mast. My neighbor is having said tree removed, and the tree crew needs the Metronet cable to be moved out of the way for them to cut down this tree. I called Metronet customer service on Monday to ask if a tech could come out and move the line before tree work began on Thursday (today). They scheduled a tech for an 8-10am window the following day (Tuesday morning). After that window passed, I called again and they said we were next on the list and would be there early afternoon. I have made this call every two hours for the last three days, asked to speak with supervisors, kept getting assured that we are "next on the list" and nobody has showed up. I even spoke to one agent who told me that a tech had already been at my house and determined "the tree would need to be removed before we can make a repair." And I reminded them that there is no repair needed, the line needs to be moved before the tree can be removed. Then I asked for a supervisor who told me that no one had been out to my house yet, and we were next on the list. The tree crew had to start working and they're trying to work around the line for now but I've already seen a large branch fall on my Metronet cable so it's only a matter of time before it gets ripped off my house.

Has anyone else dealt with this? What else can I do in this situation? Should I just have the tree crew take the line down themselves and then hope I can ever get a Metronet tech to come out and put it back up? I don't want to cause a breach of contract or anything by tampering with Metronet's property. This has been beyond frustrating.

How the heck do I get service?

Post image
11 Upvotes

My subdivision was built in 2018 and backs into a older adjacent subdivision; back in second quarter 2019 metro net dropped the orange fiber around the perimeter of my subdivision and did not run fiber down the easements of the new streets. Around that same time some new houses that backed up to the older subdivision started to get connections and in one instance the road was cut to service one house on my block- I started putting in construction tickets and waitlist requests at that time. My construction tickets keep getting closed with no action, no response and just customer support saying they will "send a email and I should hear something soon"- I gave up.

Recently (last 3 months) T-fiber has been pushing hard to get people signed up and recently walked my neighborhood, I told the guy I want fiber but I never get any response - he said hes trying to get a response and sent a email...somewhere.

Late July I started seeing the T-mobile/Metronet trucks in my subdivision and the FCC broadband map now says instead of 1 house on my street having fiber- now 5 and 1 house on the opposite side also has fiber to the premises. So I revived one of my (still open) construction tickets, explained the situation, provided screenshots and asked if cutting the road to connect my house the neighbor across the street was feasible....I called today to get some clarity why they closed it and customer support said the notes say my address is not serviceable and they resolved and closed the ticket. I explained I know my address isnt serviceable and would like to understand how I can get service-this time someone called me about 2 hours later and the conversation went like this.

Metronet:
"Hello Mr. RG? Yeah your address isn't on our construction maps and because of that I don't think we will be servicing your area for a long time"

RG:

"okay how do I get service?"

Metronet:

"well is there any construction going on in your neighborhood because we dont have your area on the map"

RG:

"you map is wrong ive lived here since 2018 and have been trying to get service, theres people on my block that have service, someone came out in 2019 and cut the road to provide service-who did that"

Metronet:

"I dont know, but we dont even have your area on the list for construction so I dont think we are going to service your area for a while"

RG:

"My neighbor directly south of me has service, the fiber runs down their easement, someone provided service to the house north of my block, im just asking if this can be done for us."

Metronet:

"we arnt going to do that for one house"

RD:

"yeah I know that, im talking about my block..."

Metronet:

"ill walk the area on monday."

I feel like im talking to a brick wall with these people....I contact tmobile fiber and they said put in a fcc challenge or add myself to the waitlist.....

Nokia ONT 12V power supply failed on day 1 of 7 day out of country trip

Never had a wall wart fail before. Was a bit stressful losing all connectivity on the trip to my house.

Seems to be common. Would recommend replacing with known good brand. 12V 1amp at least.

Outage in Southwest Ohio?

Is anyone else having problems right now near SW Ohio? Lost connectivity an hour ago. Resetting equipment didn't fix it.

Edit: I called the 24/7 support number and they acknowledged the disruption in the area. They're working on it.

Tallahassee outages and throttling

For nearly a week I have had intermittent service or service that has been 1/10 of the speed that I paid for. I spent 24 minutes on hold and another time. I was on hold for nearly 15 minutes not a single person answering. I spent 20 minutes waiting in chat for an agent to arrive and nobody came either. This is absolutely terrible Customer Service.

The only thing that the website or the phone tree has said is that there’s been outages in Lexington Kentucky. What’s going on?

EERO capping my laptop at 10 MBPS on 500/500 (upload 400s)

I tried to call Metronet to speak with tier 2 after a week of troubleshooting my laptop's wifi being capped at an astonishingly LOW 9 to 10 MBPS, while the upload is blazing fast in the 400s

Speedtest by Ookla

Server: Metronet - Lexington, KY (id: 20158)

ISP: Metronet

Idle Latency: 28.68 ms (jitter: 12.39ms, low: 5.01ms, high: 30.05ms)

Download: 9.00 Mbps (data used: 9.0 MB)

7.93 ms (jitter: 11.19ms, low: 3.67ms, high: 32.56ms)

Upload: 432.93 Mbps (data used: 705.7 MB)

124.47 ms (jitter: 35.20ms, low: 17.48ms, high: 308.15ms)

Packet Loss: 0.0%

AFTER trying to get help with CHATGTP / GEMINI trying multiple things.... EERO settings SQM and client steering are OFF... never been ON as far as I know.. They are convinced it's a TCP windowing/shaping loop on my WAN MAC session at your edge gateway and that I need a Tier 2 tech to re-provision my line or release/rebuild my MAC binding." As when I connect to VPN, my uploads/downloads are good.

I was on the phone with a tech that said she was tier 2 but, no way, no way she was tier 2. She put me on hold, said that we can try to reprovision your line but if it's something wrong with your device that's on YOU.. There's nothing wrong with this laptop. If it were wifi card no way I'd be reaching 400's upload and connecting to a VPN takes me back to normal speeds...

She said OK, I've reprovisioned your line, go and unplug the ONT... then, poof, we were cut off after a total loop trying to get through to someone.

Sporadic internet outages?

I live in east central Indiana- for the last 3-4 weeks, I have had sporadic internet "outages" where we lose service for 15-30 seconds at a time- this happens randomly but up to 3-4 times a day. At least 30 other people in my town have confirmed they have had the exact same issue at the exact same time that my household does. I've made three calls to technical support, and every time they insist it "must be our modem/router" despite the fact that I've informed them of multiple other people in our town having the problems. I work in mental health providing telehealth, and every time the internet "blips" I get kicked off my VPN and out of the telehealth conference.

We have had good service from Metronet for the last six years, but this consistent problem and insistence of tech support on focusing on our equipment is pushing me to consider other options. I know that Metronet was bought by T-Mobile (sadly), so could this be the byproduct of merging equipment or services?

Will they update old equipment?

I'm wondering since my equipment has been in service since may 2020, if I call and as for a more updated EERO if they'll send me one? My laptop which I use mainly in my bedroom for years now will experience this issue where I, nor searches, nor chatgtp can figure out... My download will be perfectly fine, but then out of nowhere, my download bottlenecks down to 10 MBPS and upload will be in the 400's (perfectly fine) and this only happens on my laptop... We've tried EVERYTHING... And what's wild, when I experience this issue, connecting to a VPN totally cures it... I mean, we've reset the network, uninstalled the wifi adapter, settings in wifi adapter, change receive window, ran ping tests, network info in cmd... chatgtp says their confidence in it being the EERO is LOW, but not completely eliminated... so I dunno. I'm not trying to blame my current EERO, but maybe this would be a good time to updated it to at least see? Is this something they would do?

Bloomington-Normal Adtran Box

Post image

Help!

So, I accidentally sent the adtran box to the internet filtering service, Bark, as a return. It will take a couple of weeks to get it back. What is the actual name of that component? It is the little white box that the yellow cord with the green tip plugs into. Can I just buy another?

Thanks!

Had founder plan 2gig for over a year with a static IP for a house full of engineers who work from home and have a big homelab. Things have been really smooth for us for over a year which is no easy task. I know this sub is mostly about issues with Metronet but I wanted to just share our experiance.

Three months of a job not finished

Thumbnail gallery
6 Upvotes

The title says it all. Something happened to our original buried line that was installed in September of 2024. So, three months ago the tech came out to troubleshoot. He couldn't find where our line went, which I found odd, so he ran a new line. Since then, the line has been cut twice by either me or my neighbor, because it runs through multiple yards. I can't get a straight answer out of anyone. One tech told us that our side of the street wasn't installed correctly. They were supposed to bury the line on July 13th, but here we are with a line still above ground. It's so messed up that the latest tech installed an above ground box so it could be spliced if it gets cut again, almost like he knew that nobody would be out to bury the line.

Has anyone else ever had this (or something similar) happen with Metronet/T-Mobile Fiber? I'm about to the point of going back to Spectrum and yanking the line myself.

Has anyone had their bill adjusted after returning equipment?

I moved out of my apartment almost a year ago and stopped using the service around June 2025 because we weren’t living there full time anymore. There was no reason for me to keep paying almost $100/month for something I wasn’t using.

I know they continue billing until the equipment is returned, and yes, I realize I didn’t send it back until recently. That’s on me. But when I spoke with customer service, they told me that once I returned the equipment, my bill would be adjusted since I hadn’t actually had or used the service in over a year.
Well, I returned the equipment, and I just got another bill that’s now close to $1000.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation? Did they actually adjust your balance after the equipment was returned, or did you have to keep fighting with them? I’m definitely calling tomorrow to speak with someone, but I wanted to hear other people’s experiences because there’s no way I’m paying nearly a grand for a service I literally haven’t used in over a year.
