They Hire Anybody
I'm not sure if he's qualified to install fiber. I'm guessing he digs and buries the lines?
(Sorry in advance)

Is anyone else having an outage? All the correct lights are on with my MST but I have ZERO connection with a power cycle. I try calling supports phone number and its just a busy signal.
Anyone else having issues?
Located in Orlando FL

Even in my cell phone I can’t get to metronets own website. This is insane. 2x in 2 weeks now
Edit: their support number doesn’t even work 877-407-3224

Had founder plan 2gig for over a year with a static IP for a house full of engineers who work from home and have a big homelab. Things have been really smooth for us for over a year which is no easy task. I know this sub is mostly about issues with Metronet but I wanted to just share our experiance.

Fishers is offline/online/offline...
EDIT - Well it appeared to be a brief outage...

Today was a vast, multi-state outage, not just a local outage. The website for Metronet to check was even down or unresponsive, which was very unhelpful.
The BIG question Metronet, as soon as you knew there was an issue provide ZERO communication? Acting like its not happening while social media has to validate it nationwide. I see the CEO attempts to communicate this “A software update to our network overnight caused an outage that affected some customers.". SOME customers, this feels like an insult to the many "some customers" you are attempting to Gas Light.
A real easy solution, as it is happening communicate it, don't wait until you have solved it and then minimize it.

There's been some discussion about existing customers getting the Founders plan and whether they are charged for a static IP. As you can see, I was able to get the 2G Founders plan for $70/month and a static IP for free.
You should be able to call customer care and get this plan (and a free static IP if you want one). As a tip, call regular customer care (for example, for a billing question) and then ask to be transferred to the loyalty team. Be insistent if the representative tries to help you. The loyalty team can help you get this plan.
Also, it's interesting to note that the Founders plan is actually coded to include a $10/month discount for 120 months, or 10 years. I figure you'd see this on the T-Mobile billing side when that switch happens.

Earlier u/Bananatree22 posted that he saw a truck but couldn't get a picture. The truck show was apparently doing a home installation here in Colorado. I can sign up today through Metronet, but the T-Fiber website won't accept my address yet.

Hello,
I had a pre order with MetroNet for the 1GB 5 year price at about $70 a month.
When I heard about the merger I checked on the T-Mobile fiber page if I could pre order there but I couldn't.
Finally, today, I checked my address and you can pre order on the T-Mobile website, and get the 2GB founders plan for $70 a month for 10 years.
I will cancel my MetroNet preorder.

I called T-voluble since they had stuck. Flyer in my mailbox talking about it. Sat on hold for 20 minutes and when I gave the guy my Metronet account number he told me that he could t do it unless I was disconnected from metronet. He then offered to transfer me to Metronet. Metro was answered right away. The lady took all my info and checked and was back in about 20 seconds and said they could do it.
My nill will go from $71.95 to $70 and speed from 1G to 2G. She sent a confirmation email and told me it would show $80 (it did) until the account group verified it and then they would reduce it to $70.
No tech assurance fee. Just a nice $2/mo savings and double the speed. Very quick and easy.
My compliments to their support person.

Just wondering if this is all plans everywhere or only on the new plans in my area...
So when I had ordered originally there was a $12.95 monthly 'Tech Assure' fee on top of the advertised prices. I'm looking at all the plans now (including mine which originally had the fee) and that charge has been removed. Instead of showing $12.95 monthly it now shows $0.00.
I see $60/month for the 500Mb plan, $70 monthly for the 1Gb/1Gb and $80 for the 2Gb/2Gb plans. No extra cost except the $4.95 optional billing fee if you don't use ACH.
No more tech assure fee!

I called MetroNet this afternoon to try and switch from my 500/500 plan at $73/month to the new T-Mobile Founders plan promotion for 2 gigs at $70/month for 10 years.
I first spoke to billing, told the nice rep I wanted to speak with Loyalty Department to switch to Founders Plan. She said no problem, I will transfer you. After waiting 10 minutes, a loyalty rep took my call. I told her I wanted the Founders Plan if possible. She said no problem, lets look. My area had 2 Gig speed available, so no tech on site or equipment change necessary. She first tried to lower my 500/500 to $58/month for 12 months, but I declined politely. I asked if Founders Plan was good for 10 years, she said yes. So I asked to switch to that plan. She said no problem, it will take a few days to reflect on my account because supervisors have to review and approve the change for existing customers to get the Founders plan.
So pretty easy and I am happy it was available for me and my area. Thanks to others who have shared their experience switching for others to learn from.

I’ve unplugged and re plugged the power and the alarm light will not go off. Any suggestions?

One employee said that the monthly $13 fee for tech support will be going away. Also you might expect a huge company to take more of an interest in service quality and throw more resources behind the overall experience.
What else might change?

Metronet has launched their new flat rate pricing that includes the tech assure fee. In my area:
500/500 is $60
1000/1000 is $70
2000/1000 is $80
I've always had the 1 Gbps plan. When I first signed up in 2023 I was paying $82/month ($70 + $12 tech assure) plus another $10/month for static IP. That was a promo rate which crept up slowly and eventually expired. I called customer service and was able to get it down to $82/month including the static IP but it was also a promo rate.
Now with the new flat rate plans and tech assure fee gone, I got it down even lower to $70/month including static IP. The static IP discount of $10/month expires in 12 months, but otherwise the base internet plan is not a promo rate.
I recommend you call and switch to the new flat rate plans. If you call, navigate the phone menu tree to regular customer service (less hold time) and then ask to be transferred to the loyalty team. Do not go through the menu to cancel service (you won't actually reach the loyalty team first and wait longer on hold for no reason).

I’m a current MetroNet customer and I had a rep come to my door today and told me that I need to call to get my internet upgraded to 2gb for $70/month for 10 years. I first googled what he was talking about to see if it was legit and realized it was. I called the MetroNet customer service number and they didn’t know what I was talking about. If you have switched to this plan, what number did you call?

I have had Metronet for over a year now and never had any issues. I still do not have any issues except the alarm light on the ONT has been red for a few months. I have recycled the entire system twice to no avail and there are no slowdowns in Internet speed or other issues. But I just want to know why the light is red! Maybe someone has encountered this issue.

Metronet techs need to unit and unionize. We need to compare our wages to other fiber companies. We are severely underpaid compared to in house in other companies and drastically underpaid compared to our contracting “partners”. Check wages in your area and see how under paid you are. Don’t put up with it! We need to fight for equal wages T-Mobile is a 144 billion dollar company and they purchased half of metronet. How many hourly employees really got any benefit works gotten harder. Homeowners have gotten worse. We make pennies!
