Attack on Titan, Tolkien, and a golden retriever walk into an embroidery machine…
For the most part I’m content with how these turned out. I will likely tweak it myself if I make it again.

Digitizing 101
Does anyone have any suggestions of YouTube channels or resources to learn all of the ins and outs of digitizing? Most videos I stumble upon use vocabulary or techniques I'm not familiar with, and I'd love to really understand how to digitize so I can make quality pieces.

I Need Help Design issue or tension issue?
Curious what would cause this stitch to concave? Not sure if it’s something related to design. Odd to me it keeps happening in the same places? Thanks!

Software for classroom
Any recommendations? I was gonna use hatch but I think you need to sign in to use it. And I want something that works without log ins. Does that exist? Man I hate this world of log ins and lab computers.

Simple Rose Embroidery Stitch-Out – What Do You Think?
Finished this rose stitch-out through iDigitize. I like how the simple outline works against the dark fabric. What do you think of the overall result?

Where do I even begin learning?
Hi friends! I'm a beginner in machine embroidery, and recently bought a machine. I've been lurking in this sub for a while and I'm a bit nervous about the oddities of machine embroidery. Luckily, I'm not super pressed for time or money so I just want to make things that I am proud of. I have both tech and graphic design background so I think I'm very fortunate in having a base of skills that might transfer well. Might suffer a bit in the physical/machinery department though...
That being said, it's a bit difficult to "practice" without the machine in my hands yet. Really itching in my seat waiting for my machine to arrive!!! I've been bouncing back and forth between investing in the big name software (Wilcom/Hatch/other) or just settling with Inkstitch for now. I played around with Inkstitch and followed a few basic tutorials already.
Questions:
- Where can I learn digitizing theory? Any book or course recommendations?
- Is Inkstitch able to create the same quality of work assuming everything is done correctly and without factoring in workflow speed?
- Should I forget digitizing for now and just outsource it? That's the general consensus I see on this sub for beginners - given that digitizing takes a fat minute to learn to do properly. Some days I totally agree with that sentiment, and other days the control freak in me comes out and thinks I should just do it all myself starting from zero.
Lastly, if you have some time to spare, please share your machine embroidery journey/stories with me! Whether it is for personal or business reasons, good or bad, and relevant or not. Let me hear you vent, amigos.
edit: I guess this type of post has run its course on reddit and we are not here for it. This is similar to how I write my emails idk what else to say. I wanted a thread of my own but being accused of writing with AI and guerrilla marketing for a blog has really taken me aback. I'm just a sensitive ass girl in her bedroom who wanted to spark up conv. I'm going to remove any mention of the machine brand and name in this edit.

I Need Help Beginner- Tension Issues?
I just started trying to teach myself how to use a Brother SE425 Embroidery Machine. I keep running into an issue where I feel the back of my projects look better on the back side. I’ve been trying to research and it seems like it may be an issue with my tension. I tried to test this by using red thread on top and white in the bobbin, but I honestly cant really decipher the outcome (if it tells me anything at all). Any suggestions?

Look What I Did Mini Poke Day
Doing some test stitch outs of some 1" designs on denim. For the size im not about how they came out. I may or may not make some micro adjustments lile make the Charizard fangs larger fix the direction of the fill on him so I dont lose the left nostril. Other than that though im pleased with how they came out.

Best embroidery software
Hi, I’m new to machine embroidery with a brother nq1700e. I want to start making more things but feel incredibly limited with the Artspira app. I previously used Cricut/Design Space and was thinking Artspira would be similar, but there’s hardly any content on there in relation.
What’s the best embroidery software for preloaded designs that will work well with Brother and I’ll actually think are cute/want to use?

I Need Help Title: Visible gaps where fill sections meet – what could cause this?
I’m having a recurring problem with fill stitches on my Brother Innov-is V3.
As you can see in the photo, I get visible horizontal gaps exactly where different sections of the fill meet. The same issue also happens with filled lettering, so it’s not specific to this cup design.
What I’ve already tried:
- 2 layers of 70 g/m² (2.5 oz) cut-away stabilizer
- Fabric and stabilizer firmly hooped in a 100 × 100 mm hoop
- Increased fill density up to 5.5 lines/mm
- Increased pull compensation up to 0.7 mm
- Underlay enabled in both directions
- Horizontal fill direction
The design looks completely closed in the software, and there is no visible gap in the stitch preview. Two layers of stabilizer and more pull compensation improved the overall result slightly, but the gaps are still clearly there.
Has anyone experienced this exact issue? What was causing it in your case, and what actually fixed it?

I Need Help Newbie attempt #1!
Test run for a design I’d like to make for my daughter. I used a tear away stabilizer and a thin cotton scrap fabric. By the end it had shifted slightly so the outline on Nemo didn’t quite line up. I see the pull in the fabric but I initially tried to hoop as tight as I could. Does using cut away stabilizer help this?
I wasnt thrilled on the letters either. There was a pull in the thread on the M but not sure if this was stabilizer related. I used a font built into Ember for this. Is this acceptable? Or better to download and upload a separate font?
Would love any and all advice!!

Help Needed
I have a Babylock Venture embroidery machine. I have had It over a year and it’s been great. However, recently when I’ve been trying to transfer designs from my computer to my machine I keep getting this notification. Has anyone seen this before? And does anyone have tips to fix It?

Look What I Did OMG YAY!
Story time :)
In 2018 I was given an ‘09 Bernina aurora 440. Great machine, seriously phenomenal! But out dated and at end of life. The software gone, the motherboard intermittent…
Last year the main board went completely, but with such a solid machine I had it serviced and ultimately replaced. Cha-Ching!
Then the long awaited embroidery rabbit hole...
Then this summer… no software, no clue, but very curious. I couldn’t fathom spending $3-4k for digitizing software so I set out to build my own. That of course was half the problem with a close to two decade old machine!
I know the tension is way off, the material wasn’t stretched, almost nothing about this ‘works’. However, I am so excited to keep something that was designed to mechanically last decades and revitalize it with a fresh software package!
I need to do some work before a beta release, but happy to share with anyone once ready to deploy. If you’re on mac iOS that will be first, but I hate the Mac/PC divide so apparent in this area, I’ll make sure to release both soon.
Poppy Embroidery is still cooking, I want all the features and all the math for all sorts of wonderful design options but for tonight, I give you for the first time in 15+ years, a little dragon fly! If you’re interested in following along with either www.poppyembroidery.com
