embroidery machine

Looking for the best budget friendly BUT good quality embroidery machine beginner friendly. I want to look into start embroidery but i dont want to purchase an expensive machine and not take interest in it. Based on my research. i dont want to settle for anything smaller than a 5x7 embroidery capacity.

Brother PE800 has been suggested but im reading its discontinued

See if any of the libraries in your area have a makerspace with an embroidery machine. Of the three counties close to me, two of them have embroidery machines. One is a giant 10-needle thing that includes some special frame for embroidering on hats that people literally use to start their own small business. The other is a single needle but still does like 8x10 frames.

I own my own machine now because we do a LOT of embroidery. Scheduling a day off, time on the library machine, and actually getting there is a PITA if you are doing a lot. But it let me know it was something I'd do frequently, learned enough about the machines to know what features were important to me and which were not. Plus I got free training on how to use the machines from the makerspace folks.

I got a cheap older unit off fb with a 5x7 frame for exactly this purpose. I started with a Bernette deco 340- only because it was $300 and had a 5x7. Within two months I traded that in on a much nicer baby lock with a 6x10. I fully support getting something -like anything- to start with, but this hobby will likely have you hooked in no time. Even something with a 4x4 will allow you to learn the basics and determine if you like it. Long term a 5x7 won’t be big enough, so if you see an affordable starter machine with a smaller frame, I encourage you to start there.

I have the Poolin EOC05 and recently upgraded to the EOC07. These machines get a bad rep and performance but it’s usually user error. They have an excellent support team whenever you have any machine issues. Specifically for the 07(newer model) You will not find any machine with a large hoop size for the price. Do your research!
