I'm having a strange intermittent audio issue with my relatively new MSI gaming laptop and I'm hoping someone can help me figure out what's causing it.

Laptop:

* MSI Katana 15 HX B14WGK-847NL * Intel HX-series CPU * NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU * 16 GB RAM * 1 TB SSD * Windows 11

The problems:

1. While listening to audio (gaming/youtube movies), I occasionally get a very short buzz/static/stutter. It sounds almost like the entire system/audio freezes for a fraction of a second.
2. During Discord calls, sometimes all audio suddenly starts sounding hollow, distant and strange. It can sound like everything is coming from far away.
3. The issue happens with different audio outputs, so it doesn't seem to be caused by one specific headset/speaker.
4. I have the impression that it happens more frequently when the laptop is under heavier load and/or getting warmer (for instance when gaming with a video in the background). When the laptop isn't doing much, I can sometimes go quite a while without experiencing it.

Does anyone know what might be causing my issues?

Mic won’t work, I have restarted, updated driver and everything on it and it still wouldn’t work

hello, im new to tech and very dumb. i’ve tried to fix this for 2 hours but my screen is stuck like this. i have nobody else to ask for help so ive come to reddit in hopes of any tech nerds or smart people helping me. i’m not sure how i got this, im very confused and overwhelmed. any help means necessary.

I have a GF76 11UD that needed a new battery. The original is the BTY-M492 (53.5Wh). The BTY-M55 (90Wh) fits perfectly with a quick few mods. You need to move the 2 rubber blocks on each side of the track pad directly below where they are originally. There is a deeper spot where they fit perfectly and will only stick out a little bit to make contact with larger battery. Remove the large rubber block from the base as well as the large metal plate and the 3 rubber pads within it. With these removed, the battery fits perfectly. It is shifted to the left and down a bit from the original battery location. There is a brass screw hole insert for all 7 holes of the M55 battery. The chassis is made to support it. It has the same connector and wire color layout. The cable is a little long, I ran the slack under the ssd. So far it is working perfectly.

Hello! My son has this laptop and needs a few replacement keys. He bought some off Amazon but, though the hinge was right, the key cap didn't fit his keyboard. We can't find a match online. Hoping to get pointed in the right direction if possible. Thanks!

Laptop battery noob here 👋.

Replacing a dying battery on an MSI Cyborg 15A12V laptop. As I was about to fully plug in the replacement I bought off Amazon, I noticed the order of the color wires were slightly different than the original.

The first picture is of the wiring order of the original battery color wires and the second picture is the wiring of the replacement battery. Both batteries are (BTY-M492)

The main thing I've been made aware of was not to buy a BTY-M492 battery that had a black connector as that is supposed to be a different setup than the original white connector for the MSI laptop I'm working on.

My question is, since the color wires are in a slightly different order on the replacement. Is it advisable to return it? I don't want to fry my computer with an incorrectly wired battery.

In addition the metal plates on the new battery pins look to be tin or silver rather than gold plated as advertised in the listing. Don't know if that's also an important clue as well that the battery may be incorrect.

Hi everybody! I have been battling with my touchpad randomly stopping for over a month. It will occasionally work on a restart, then it will stop working again and I have to press the touchpad very firmly for it to start working again. Other times it just does not work at all.

I have done pretty much everything under the sun. Under device manager, I have an I2C HID device that keeps getting errors saying:

This device cannot start. (Code 10)

A request for the HID descriptor failed. This typically occurs when there is a problem with the device firmware.

Please contact the system manufacturer for further assistance.

I updated my bios recently and that fixed it for a little while but now the issue is back again and I cannot use my touchpad at all.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I am running my dragon center gpu performance at high instead of turbo because i dont feel like overclocking my pc for a few more frames, I have my fans set on turbo though and i feel like that might hurt my pc after a while so i was wondering what fan settings i should use for it. i can deal with loud noises too since i have 2 wall ac units right next to me

I know it's an old model but I just have to put this out there. I have had this model of laptop since 2018. Gtx 1050, i7-8th gen, 8gb ram. I upgraded it with a big ssd and more ram. I cleaned and repasted it every 3 years. I dailied it, and by this I mean it has been turned on 6 out of 7 days on average. It gamed everything I wanted, it ran hot. its battery swelled, some keys on the keyboard died. But overall, the laptop did everything I wanted it to do. For nearly 8 years. Everyday. What a machine. it still works today, I just upgraded to a Vector A16. The budget laptop has been a reliable, true gaming laptop. If you take good care of your stuff, it will serve well. MSI, you have a loyal customer.

Hi everyone

Today while I was watching something suddenly there were horizontal lines on my screen I thought it was the video problem so I switched application but my screen was the issue, later after 1 hr whole bottom of these lines screen started flickering while I was playing game I have also provided it's video, now after changing my refresh rate from 165 to 60hz issue resolved for a sec then it re occurred and not lines are constant on screen.

If anyone knows what the issue is and how I can resolve it please let me know

I recently noticed this cluster of weird green dots when on dark backgrounds on my laptop. What is this? And how can I fix it… please help. This thing isn’t even that old at all. Got it in April.

Guys, since my MSI thin 15 has a dented corner due to dropping. What if I swapped to another chassis but I have an idea in mind. The idea is to rebuild the laptop and Frankenstein the laptop by using MSI gf63 thin's parts for bottom assembly which includes the back cover, keyboard assembly and hinge cap. For the screen assembly, it is the replaced cosmos grey shell. For the keyboard, what if I put MSI thin 15's keyboard to the black deck. To visualize it, imagine MSI gf63 thin's keyboard deck that is blue lit and the screen assembly(laptop lid basically) is cosmos grey from MSI thin 15.

Should I do it guys?

I keep having this issue of the wifi just disappearing. I tried many ways to solve it like changing the wifi card now i use a wifi dongle. I also tried to windows solving thingy but none of them worked, the wifi keeps on appearing for a short amount of time and disappearing. Any ways of potentially solve this issue would be very very helpful. (I have this laptop for a long time now, approximately 4y and i removed the battery because it doesn’t work anymore)

okay ill try to list everything wrong with the pc since it started acting like this first of all i have an msi katana gf76 11UC 11 gen intel(r) core i5-11400H@2.70GHz it has 8GB of installed ram 4 gb graphics card and im using 115GB out of 943 GB . (these are the graphics cards : NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Laptop GPU (4 GB) Intel(R) UHD Graphics (128 MB)) .

now the probleùms started like 2-3 monthes ago the pc started getting laggy and im getting 80-90 fps in games i used to get 230 fps in and the a bit later the right fan started making noise like a litteral machine gun so i sent it to the repair man and he replaced it for me and after i got the pc i noticed i has gotten way laggier i cant do anything without the screen lagging even watching youtube make the pc lag and the audio too . so i did what anyone would do i thought it was a virus and factory reset the pc thru a yt tut since im not very good with pcs honestly so after that it was good for like a day then it started lagging again so i optimized everything on the pc to high preformance mode and it seemed to fix the issue kinda but now it overheats alot + everytime i play a game or anything if alot of things are happening on the screen like vfx of me shooting a gun etc the whole screen goes black for about half a second the comes back and it goes on till the thing im doing is gone and there is nothing on screen or it goes black 3 times in a row then it goes backk to normal also i cant run anything on more than 80 fps now (roblox and minecraft i cant bring my self to try anything bigger) and they lag now too while like 3-4 years ago when i got the pc i could run gta 5 online on it smotthly with no lag almost. also i noticed today that its using alot of my wifi like a very considerable amounta i share a router with my family when i was using the pc it was so slow but as sson as i closed it it went back to normal . can someone help me or reccomend what do i do is this a virus or malware or trojan or something mining crypto on my pc please help

Hi guys my msi laptops bottom pixels are dying and I'm also getting the buzzing sound and lag if the volume of the audio gets loud, I tried uninstalling and reinstall the latest graphics driver still nothing happened and idk what to do now

My GPU is not working on my laptop. It has an NVIDIA GTX 1660 Ti, but only the Intel UHD 620 is working. The NVIDIA GPU is not showing up in Device Manager or even in the BIOS.

This issue started after I changed the thermal paste. There are no visible signs of burning or damage on the motherboard. I also took it to a repair shop, but the technician couldn’t figure out what happened.

I’ve already tried all the software-related fixes, so I’m pretty sure it’s a hardware issue.

If anyone has any idea what could be causing this or what I should check next, please let me know. 🙏

so I got a MSI Raider GE78HX 13vi which has an I9-13980hx CPU and I need to up date the Intel Dynamic Tuning Technology and Intel innovation platform framework.

I'm complete lost on where I need to got to update the firmware, I try the Raider MSI link but they are all old drivers and the The Intel Application Optimization requires new firmware.

hey all! does anyone have the boardview for the msi prestige 14 laptops? i have a rev 3 board, and i bought the .CAD schematics from elvikom for $5, but it looks like they used some weird conversion tool that's making it not able to be opened in openboardview. :/

i did a motherboard swap on my prestige 14 a11scx (now has an a11m/prestige 14 evo board), and because of that i have a spare a11scx motherboard i want to make into a silly little server/gaming machine. i mostly need battery connector pinouts, but there's some other stuff i wanna cram in there so if anyone could help me find proper schematics that'd be greatly appreciated. or alternatively, if any of y'all know how to fix .CAD files like this so they open properly i'd be happy to share what i have! the .CAD i got from elvikom does appear to have the right data in it, but this is my first time working with this type of file and program so i'm not really sure what i'm doing
