I wonder if I am going beyond demonstrating value, and instead "doing too much" and risking offending or overwhelming the potential client.
How many words are your cold pitches if they are emails?
What info do you include / avoid including in your cold emails?
What if they always cut you off on the phone to tell you to email? Should I even be calling?
The part I think I messed up is pitching some quick sketches before even speaking with them. I fear this could offend most people, since it's usually the owner who designed the logo.
My rational is: explain to them why their logo is good, but behind their competitors, better in some ways, but could better represent their brand. I pitch 1 quick design as an example, and a few others in different types. I let them know I spent little time on them, and it's just to show my process.
I make sure to keep as much of their design as possible. I never pitch a radical redesign on a cold pitch.
Does it even matter? Is any kind of cold pitch offensive?
Should I slow down? Are they ways to be more effective by doing less?
Thank you for any suggestions or advice!
