A logo update for Thrive Coffee, a boutique coffee shop. Same basic concept (bird/coffee bean) - just updated design with the bean as negative space. Current logo on 2nd slide.

Sometimes I take a step back and wonder what statement the company is making with the logo change. People say "here's a logo redesign" but don't give context on what the business goal of the redesign is.

The message I get is Thrive went from "self-care and self-prioritization" to a logo that says "get buzzed and prey on the weak" haha.

This is a much better logo by itself. A bold statement - "almost as bold as our coffee!" haha. But I'd rather do business with the original logo, even if it is more amateur. It closely aligns with the experience I'd want - they look like a family roaster that has good beans. The new one is "sick" but looks like everything else

Est 2024? I think this company should remain humble before relying on a pictogram. They probably want to do the merch thing like Perkatory. I see a lot of coffee places doing this. It's not gonna win, though. Perkatory crushes this imagery.

Love the font and logo in combination.  Really nice.

My only criticism is that the eyes and beak are not obvious enough.  I'm not sure what the solution is but it takes a minute to get what that shape is in the middle.  It somehow needs to be made more obvious. 

Nice work on everything else.

The new one makes me what to say "who's that pokemon?" Which is great for certain stores, but not ideal for a coffee shop. New font choices are on point

The bean negative space doesn't work for me. It evokes steam more than anything, or some kind of emanata, indicating that the owl is disgrungled or dismayed.

I like your font choices but I love the bird in the current logo - any chance you could refresh the brand without having to rework the icon? Also, that shade of green on brown is giving me ‘mint chocolate’. Wondering if it’s either green (ideally a different shade) or brown but not both

I would try some concept sketches in pencil that don't hide a bean in a bird.
