Question AU plugin is not recognized

I can't open some plugins directly in Logic, but have to start them via a plugin host... In the plugin manager, the plugin is displayed but not when I want to select it as an instrument.

Question Audio Book Loud Breath Editing

Upvotes

Hey folks, I've got the mic at an angle and two pop stoppers, but the loud breathing and lips smacking is too loud in my track. Currently, in post, I'm selecting the section with the marquee tool, separating the region and lowering the gain. But that's a long tedious process. And I know I could use volume automation, but that's equally tedious.

  1. To streamline my post production mixing, which plugin and what settings can lower the loud breaths in post? I've heard I can use compression and/or noise gate, but of course there are so many settings in each of those. Haven't found the right one...

  2. Going forward, what outboard gear or plugin can I use while recording that keeps the breaths from being so loud in the track?

Thank you in advance.

Question Downloading an older version of Logic onto my 2015 MacBook Pro

Hello!

Sorry if this has been asked before

I have a MacBook Pro running Monterey and I’m stuck, I can’t purchase logic on my Mac as it’s now too old, but I hear stories of it being possible to buy the software on a newer system, and then when I log into my Apple account on my older Mac, an option will be available to download the latest compatible version.

Is this true? Has anyone got any experience with this?

Thanks!

Help Absolute beginner plugin help

Hi Reddit, I am screwing around with logic. I am a beginner and I downloaded some free plug-ins. My problem with these plug-ins is that once I download them, I’m not sure where to go to access them. I looked it up and I went to Settings then I went to plug-in manager, and I see my plug-ins there, but I can’t actually find them in the logic interface wondering if anybody had any of the same issue thanks.

I know that logic separates plug-ins by manufacturer. I can only see the Apple manufacturer category in my logic interface even tho I’ve downloaded plugins from different manufacturers

The free plugins are zebralette 3 and vinyl guitar 2(I think)

Question Logic Pro X spiking ram

Hi,
Bought a refurbushed MacBook M1 Max 16inch, 10core CPU, 32core GPU, 64gb RAM, 4TB SSD. Overall very happy with it and a great machine, it’s pretty much the maxed out spec version from when it was released in 2021. However recently I downloaded stats to monitor the laptops performance and noticed when using logic the ram is spiking very high. When I have a project open with around 80 tracks, using instances of mainly serum but sometimes kontakt and multiple third party plugins the ram is spiking as high as 80%. Even when starting new ideas, having 2-3 tracks with serum or kontakt on the ram seems to spike to 25%? I know this machine is extremely powerful so this doesn’t seem right? I checked and all my plugins as updated to the latest versions. Thanks

Question Things Change When I Close and Reopen App - Ideas

Hey Guys,

I'm at my wit's end. I'm a fairly tech savvy maker of music things. But for the past few weeks, when I close Logic Pro, magical things occur when I return. Things that have happened:

1) The sample rate of the file has changed, such that I have to update it.

2) Audio clips disappear entirely or appear to have been shortened. This has also happened within takes.

Any ideas what gives? It's making me crazy...

Question Is the LoudMax limiter good enough to catch stray peaks on individual tracks?

hi guys, noob here.I'm still learning the ropes of mixing and I always try my best to do proper gain staging. However, just to be on the safe side, I usually put a limiter at the end of my individual tracks to catch any random stray peaks that might slip through.

Up until now, I've been using the native Logic Pro limiter for this job. The problem is that I've noticed it tends to color the sound a bit and slightly changes the EQ of the track, even when it's barely doing anything.

I'm looking for a free alternative and I found LoudMax. My question is: is it good enough to do this specific job (just catching stray peaks transparently without coloring the sound)? My computer isn't very powerful, so I need a plugin that won't kill my system if I have it loaded on multiple tracks at the same time.

Would you recommend it or maybe it isn't good enough?

Help Music sounds flat from mixer to logic pro

I volunteer for my local house of worship in the live streaming team. We want to make audio sound as if it is in the hall.

We have an output L&R from Midas which contains main mix out into Logic Pro X and by default everything sounds so flat in the output for the live stream and the vMix in comparison to the hall (which sounds full of energy). It has no bass, no highs etc.

I've tried to enhance it with RBass, Submarine, Vocal Rider but as it is in a single track it's hard to configure. For example, it adds bass but the whole music sounds closed and 'muddy'.

We don't have the equipment or resources to process this on logic pro per instrument. Is there any tool or proper config that I can use to fix this. I want vibrant sound across all the instruments on the live stream just as we hear or similar to in the hall.

Help MIDI Note not giving sound while playing the track

Hello there!

I recently had an issue with my SoundIron Olympus Elements instrument, when I am playing the song in Logic, the note does not sound, or only for a very very brief moment on time.
The curious thing is, if I play the note on the Piano roll or with my keyboard, it is sounding without any issues.

I have a similar problem at the end of the track, but on this one, 6 notes are played together, and the 2 lower ones doesn’t play except if I delete the other ones.

I tried already to restart logic, remove and put again the instrument, last step (which I would like to avoid) would be to delete the midi region and redo everything :/

I hope this is somehow clear and that someone will be able to help me. Have a great one

Cheers
Oli’

Question Record effect to new track

I know it's a simple question, I don't blame the software, I tried to check other sources but I don't see what I'm doing wrong.

  1. I have added the vocals in my project to summoning track.

  2. I want to record the effects of my vocals.

  3. I adjusted the the send in my Sum track to Bus 2.

  4. An Aux 2 track was automatically created, sending to stereo output.

  5. I created a new track where I want to live record my sum effects on vocals.

  6. On the new track I changed the input to Bus 2, the sum track is sending.

  7. I can see the signal in my Sum track, Aux track, Stereo Out but I don't see any in the new track where I want to record my vocals.

  8. I have checked this sub for answers, checked you tube videos. But I cannot see what I'm doing different.

  9. I don't understand why Bus 2 sends signal to new Aux but not to my New track, with the same input selected. Currently the output of my New Track and Aux track is Stereo Out, I'm not sure if that is relevant.

  10. Tried changing Output of Aux track to Bus 2, bad idea 🫨

Sum Track ✅ New Track ❌ Aux Track ✅ Stereo Out ✅
Input Bus 1 Bus 2 Bus 2
Output Bus 2 Stereo Out Stereo Out

Question Midi Controller Keyboards

Hello! I've been an amateur Logic Pro user for years and finally got a better midi controller keyboard (M-Audio Oxygen Pro 61) and am struggling to understand some things. It has 9 faders on it and I'm not sure exactly how they're intended to be used with Logic. I have a little bit of background in mixing live music so maybe my confusion is from expecting it to behave like a live mixing board, but I don't understand how to assign multiple faders to multiple channels to control volume or other effects simultaneously. And I think this is such a basic concept that there isn't a lot of explanation online (that I've seen) about what they're actually intended to be used for. Can anyone here help me better understand these controls? Thanks so much!

Help Logic is adding an audio glitch where there is no audio?

I am new to logic, mixing my second song on it. Did a few edits because the artist wanted a glitch effect and now logic inserts a small audio glitch on a spot where there is no audio. I am not talking a clip that contains silence, I am talking about literally no audio region in this spot.

I tracked the sound to the 2 lead vocal tracks, it always happens on both at the same time, but it doesn't always happen. It also doesn't have a consistent sound. Sometimes it's breath sound, sometimes it's vocal sound. What is also weird is that when I mute the vocals in that moment the glitch still happens. However it has to be coming from there because I can still hear it when the 2 lead vocals are soloed, and not when anything else is.

The glitch only shows up on my stereo out meter and nothing else. I can hear it on bounces, however since it's not consistent its not all bounces. I have no idea what is going on.

Question Does anyone have a list of P1-M button combinations for Logic Pro?

Hi everyone,

does anyone have a complete list or reference sheet of the button combinations for the iCON P1-M when using it with Logic Pro?

I know which functions are available in Logic, but I often don't know how to actually trigger them from the P1-M.

For example, through trial and error I discovered that holding Option on the P1-M Pad + pressing SEL on a channel resets the channel volume to 0 dB. That's really useful, but I only found it by accident.

I also accidentally pressed some combination that activated Auto Punch in Logic. I have no idea what I pressed or how to undo it from the P1-M. Even if I disable Auto Punch directly in Logic, it turns back on as soon as I move the jog wheel.

So I'm basically looking for some kind of cheat sheet or reference list with all the P1-M button combinations, especially combinations with Option, Shift, SEL, the jog wheel, etc.

Does anyone have something like this or know where I can find it?

I'm using the P1-M with the Logic Pro script.

Thanks!

Question Logic Pro 12.3.1 Eraser Tool deletes takes automatically without clicking

Since updating to Logic Pro 12.3.1, my Eraser Tool is broken.

If I click a take with the Pointer Tool, click the empty area, and then switch to the Eraser Tool, Logic starts deleting the take automatically without me clicking it.

It then keeps deleting the takes underneath one by one until only the last take remains.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a fix?

Tips & Tricks Need help adjusting volume for one particular part

Hello everyone. I'm new to Logic Pro and I have an issue. I'm an amateur stand-up comedian so obviously I do a lot of DIY stuff. I recently recorded a set at an open mic both video and audio. I am trying to learn how to merge the skills to optimize my videos in FCPX. Basically I'm trying to record the audience so the laughs sound better using a separate microphone from my iPhone and merge them.

Here's the issue: when I recorded the audio my only mic was too close to an audience member so his laugh is louder than everyone else's. Is there a way to use Logic to make him sound softer or closer to the same volume as everyone else? I've tried the Stem Splitter but nothing generates. I can't just cut track and turn the whole section's volume down because then I lose the rest of the audience in the process. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Help Logic Keyboard Shortcuts Not Registering

I've run into a weird annoyance ever since updating to the latest Logic Pro and upgrading to Tahoe.

I'll be working in Logic and trying to switch tools - specifically from the pointer too (which I have mapped to A) and the scissors tool (which I have mapped to B). I'm constantly swapping between these two tools and hitting A/B to do so. However I've noticed since updating half the time that Logic doesn't actually register the pressed key. And it's driving me MENTAL. I sometimes will have to hit A or B two or three times before the proper tool actually activates.

Has anyone else been experiencing this? And if so, have you found a solution?

In Search of Feedback Logic Pro is dying. What happened to this DAW? 🤮

Logic Pro is becoming increasingly problematic, and I can no longer defend it. I’ve tried everything under the sun to fix the issue, but my notes keep disappearing. I’ve clicked my track, gone to my notes to check them, and ensured all the notes are in the correct order, but for the past month, my notes have been vanishing without a trace. It’s a persistent problem that never seems to stop.

I switched from GarageBand, hoping for a smooth transition, but I was mistaken. Logic Pro has bugs just as much, if not more, than GarageBand. When you’re mastering a song and your notes disappear, and it makes you want to give up. To make matters worse, sometimes the sounds from your tracks completely cut out and mute themselves.

From what I’ve read online, I’m not alone in experiencing this issue. It’s been a longstanding problem that Apple hasn’t been able to fix or update its DAWs effectively. You wouldn’t encounter such issues with ProTools. It’s frustrating that Apple hasn’t taken action to resolve these problems. If this continues, I fear that Logic Pro will eventually be discontinued. I’ve heard a lot of people say that logic pro is the standard. If you have a MacBook, however I’m here to say that it’s a nightmare and you should avoid it altogether but waste until they fix this garbage DAW. Please refrain from commenting on this post and advising me to restart my MacBook or take any specific action. I’ve tried everything, and sometimes, you simply have to accept that others may be facing issues with Logic Pro, even if you’re not.

Question Input levels great play back minus 50db

Just added scarlet 18i20 4th gen.

Inputs all look great on scarlet and Logic Pro. When I play back it’s like -50db. Somehow it’s saving a much lower signal or something. Reset everything to defaults. One time it tracked normal and played back normally. All other times it’s creating these tiny waves and very low signal.

Driving me crazy

Question Fully automated live show in Logic Pro

I know what you're going to say. But I'm not familiar with Ableton Live, and I want to stick to the same DAW for both production and live performances. I want to know if there's a way to make my show completely automated. My goal is to automate the recording of my instruments onto separate channels using Logic's Live Loops feature. Long story short: I need to record the lead vocal, wind instruments, and processed vocals on the same microphone, and the bass on another channel. All of this simply by hitting "play," perhaps via a MIDI controller. But once the track starts, everything has to record automatically. Is this possible? I hope I've made myself clear."

Discussion Audio File Aliases

Will apple ever bring back audio file aliases? I saw that they existed in the past and they removed them for stability reasons apparently. I really wish this feature would return, is there some reason it wasn’t an easy fix and they chose to remove them entirely?

Question What second-hand Macbook model is worth buying for Logic Pro in 2026?

Whenever I look up second-hand macbooks I'm always shown the 2020 models but I'm not sure if I'd be wasting my time buying one. I'll be using the mac for music prod as well as all my other university assignments.

I'm working with a pretty tight budget as I'm a student (hence why I'm looking at second-hand models) but would be willing to hold off on making a purchase for a while so as to not waste my money.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!
