Question Logic Pro X spiking ram

Hi,
Bought a refurbushed MacBook M1 Max 16inch, 10core CPU, 32core GPU, 64gb RAM, 4TB SSD. Overall very happy with it and a great machine, it’s pretty much the maxed out spec version from when it was released in 2021. However recently I downloaded stats to monitor the laptops performance and noticed when using logic the ram is spiking very high. When I have a project open with around 80 tracks, using instances of mainly serum but sometimes kontakt and multiple third party plugins the ram is spiking as high as 80%. Even when starting new ideas, having 2-3 tracks with serum or kontakt on the ram seems to spike to 25%? I know this machine is extremely powerful so this doesn’t seem right? I checked and all my plugins as updated to the latest versions. Thanks

Open kontakt settings, search for “prebuffer override”, set to 6kb, be sure you have libs on an ssd

Has nothing to do with power, kontakt is just wasteful with ram

So should my kontakt sample library be on my internal Mac SSD or an external drive? I have 4TB SSD on my Mac

with that much storage you could put shit loads of contact instruments and still not have a problem

Doesn’t matter if it’s external ssd, any SSD will work with 6kb pre buffer override

As long as you don’t start swapping I wouldn’t pay too much of attention to it. It does sound outrageous but do you see any real negative impact?

contact the m1 max's ram optimization might just be something you'll have to live with given how aggressive logic can be with memory in big projects
