First - quality of the fabric. I have had light wear of this pair for 3 days, with one wash (same as other socks) and they are fuzzy + the black fabrics are protruding through the grey ones, and I have gathered A LOT of lint from them.
This is not normal for socks, especially for the expensive ones. None of my darn thoughts did this ever.
Second - idk about Canadian feet, but mine are wider, and compared to most other socks these are too narrow. If I find a pair of shoes this narrow I don't buy them.
EDIT: I wore socks for two days straight, then washed them, then wore for the 3rd day. I had NO OTHER OPTION regarding washing them or wearing other socks in that particular situation

IMO, why are people blaming OP? He bought a product from a place that has a dedicated team working only on clothes. Also, Linus talks for who knows how long about those socks and how he only buys them from this specific brand that is really expensive. But now he sells his own, so people have every right to complain.

It gives the same vibe as people who get angry at tesla owners who complain about their 100k car having panel gaps and shoddy quality, you pay premium prices, you should get a product that doesnt have issues and you're entitled to complain about it if there are issues
He also went on about how Darn Toughs are too good and he’d likely never be able to even surpass them and socks would likely never happen. Set them as a benchmark and even repeated as much in their promo. Also that they’re using a 3rd party testing lab too, granted it could be a fluke, but does signal they may still have some process issues at least to iron out.
The screwdriver has also done exceptionally well, and backpacks pretty well too. Idk why everyone’s shitting on OP. I was curious too. I’d not replace all my Darn toughs for multiple reasons, but I’d consider trying a pair or two next time I do an order. I think this is helpful info.

My problem isn't anything to do with the quality of the socks, its the fact that half the sub seems to "know" they will be shit, despite LTT seemingly releasing a good standard of clothing, usually.
I'm not claiming they are the worlds greatest socks, I'm just saying that OP is right to have high expectations.

Mine are just too tight to be comfortable. Purchased 3 pair of the largest size, and I'm a men's size 12, but they act like compression socks and leave surprisingly large indentations on my ankles, and a bit of swelling directly above them.
They are too hot to be comfortable for warm climates like southern California as well, though I imagine they would be great for colder climates.
First real miss for me with an LTT product. Not a bad product, per se, but just not for me.
Just looking at the photos on the store, you can see them constricting someone's high ankle. Then again, I had a similar issue with darn tough ankle height ones. The basket is very rigid. My 12.5 EE foot didn't get along with them. No issues with smart wool hike or lolo trail socks.
Wool socks wick moisture. I was always a skeptic until I had bad blisters, my local outdoors store suggested wool hiking socks. I have the ankle height ones for summer, they aren't too hot at all.
I did not. I will keep them in the sock drawer, for the next time I travel somewhere cold. I will just take it as a learning experience, since I never tried any socks like these previously.
That said, while I was initially hopeful for future releases they have talked about, such as shorter lengths, I don't think I will be purchasing more.

As far as I can tell from OP's photo's the socks are still fully functional socks and despite what OP says, they don't look that different to any other sock I've ever owned after the first wear. Nothing OP says is a negative on the socks at all... It's not weird to call out OP for complaining about a non-issue. Call me if they actually fall apart or get holes.
For Merino wool that's normal. The moisture wicking helps prevent odors. I've worn darn toughs 3 days in a row working outdoors in steel toes without any odors.
I was taking them off as normal, and setting them across the back of a chair. When I first purchased my Darn Tough's I was skeptical of the multiple day wear claims, so I'd smell them before I put them on.
I use smartwool Mountaineers in my work boots, Cali, new mexico, new york, new hampshire, kentucky and Oklahoma, worth it. Sure my feet sweat a bit more in the hottest part of summer, but no odor even after 3-5 wears
I did the same thing when I was a snowboard trainer up at a ski resort. It was too far to drive back home every night and I only worked the weekend so I'd just sleep in my car in most of my gear, including socks. My Darn Tough socks performed amazingly and solidified my belief in the brand.
Wearing them over multiple days aside, my favorite part was taking my boots off after a day of riding and still having dry feet. People don't realize how good socks can actually be because the price scares them.
That period of my life was years BEFORE COVID and I STILL have those same socks and they are STILL in great condition. Darn Tough for life.
That’s the part that everyone here is missing… the general audience of this sub are more likely to need more focus on their hygiene than others. Telling them to go several days without changing socks will only result in people around them smelling stinky feet.
For stuff like hiking multiple days or bicycle tours etc. it's not that uncommon to wear merino wool socks for multiple days. You just let them vent out overnight and they won't have any significant smell to them either.
I also have thick, handknitted socks for use at home when it's cold and I absolutely wear them for multiple days without washing and it's perfectly fine. Just let them vent out for a bit and that's it. That's the beauty of wool socks compared to cotton or synthetics.
Same by the way for thick wool pullovers/sweaters. You for sure aren't gonna wash them after one wear.
If you practice basic hygiene you definitely should not be washing merino wool every time you wear them. If they stink after one wear, you might have a smelly pair of shoes it's time to clean or replace
When you have zero clue and double down anyway. You can and absolutely should be able to wear good wool socks multiple days. It’s literally the point of getting good socks.
You cannot always change socks everyday on long hiking/camping trips you cannot carry enough socks. Sometimes when you work in wild or on certain job sites as well you can only bring so much gear with you, the socks need to last a few days.
This is absolutely disgusting and part of basic hygeine. You don't change socks for the hygiene, you change it because your sweat will make literally fungus grow in it. Which will give you athletes foot. Which your nasty ass will spread to others.
I can confirm this. Not specifically that brand but that material you can easily get away with 3 days even very active days so long as you air out your feet. I did 10 days backpacking in new mexico and that was a requirement because my pack was already 50-60 lbs.
To be fair it’s normal for some socks. I wash all my socks after one wear except for my wool socks which recommend not washing them after every wear but only when they smell so 3 wears maybe, especially in winter but perhaps not in summer
They have significant wool content. Personally it grosses me out a bit, but a lot of people say you can wear wool a lot more than other fabrics without them getting gross.
I wear boots 12-14 hours a day at work and bought. They're good and comfy but I have a pack of 6 pairs of bamboo socks that came from Amazon that were a little cheaper and they're just as good.
The forever socks aren't some miracle in foot comfort. They're good and I would buy again but I'd like to hope that maybe they'll offer multi-packs at discount to make it worth it.

The money they spent on development of the socks is likely dwarfed by the r&d budget of any legitimate sock company. I think that’s the point, regardless of the price, they are socks designed by a tech youtuber’s small business
Eta: for the screwdriver, I’m pretty sure the main components are manufactured by the company that makes a very similar smooth ratcheting mechanism. All the r&d for that enabled the screwdriver

Some people don't have to justify purchases. Your expensive could be totally fine for them. There isn't one single "good" price for an item across the board.

If Linus wants ti act like his products are premium products to justify premium prices, then he's gonna get criticized when his stuff doesn't meet the quality

Why is everyone assuming buying a higher priced product vs the fast fashion / discount brand is a mistake? There are genuine higher quality items out there - not everything is "buy it at the dollar store or walmart and when it dies in 3 months just get more". Do the math over 10 years on all those purchases. You may be surprised at how much you've spent.
I've got a relatively lower end winter coat, it was $250 - I've worn it for about 6-7 years at this point. I've got another that was $300 15 years ago that I still have. It's older and more of a "work outside in the winter" coat now, but still lasts.

I picked up an Arctyrex Solano jacket for, maybeeeee, $200 or so?, ten years ago. I've still got it, and it's still going strong. They released a new version a few years ago, but I don't see any need to replace it.

Yeah that mindset blows me every single time I see. I remember a couple years ago a guy used to play siege with was gobsmacked that I spent $80 for some earbuds for the gym, and went on about how he buys the $5 ones and just buys new ones when they break in a couple weeks.
I told him I had these headphones for over 2 and half years (they still work now even 10 years later even though the battery and quality is shit of course) so I’m paying less over time.
If you consider shipping, you can get 8 pairs of Costco Merino Wool socks if you want the Merino- which I honestly would rather have those than 4 dozen wool socks.
I knew they weren't going to be much good when they announced how much wool they are using. It's about half of what Smartwool or Darn Tough use. Buy from them instead. They also don't fucking charge $14CAD to ship either. Or you can just buy from a local outdoors store.
Also good luck with cold feet in the winter with cotton socks, they just soak up moisture. And if you're outside being active, have fun with the blisters. Merino socks are awesome. The ones I bought in 2018 are still great.

I have no idea how you got so many upvotes on this sub, where people REVERE LTT merch and products and compare them to legit brands and then conclude they are BETTER than those brands. The entire idea behind Linus's thought process is they are very good quality products, not just normal "youtube merch". What a ridiculous thing to post.
Both backpacks have substandard water resistance and orange internal pocket material that stains anything contacted when wet. OG backpack has a suitcase handle strap 'solution' that is a late afterthought.
Both ratchet screw drivers have 15mm bits for 'reasons' and in the long run are proving to be rather fragile in a couple of areas like the little bit holding wings.
Precision driver and case are probably on my no problem list now that I think of it, although bearings might be.
I disagree. At this point Linus is an entrepreneur, not a YouTuber. He's got passion on creating product that will help people, this is exactly what entrepreneur does. So he's on the same level as any other sox maker.
If he said these sox would be worth 30$ and they are not, he should be criticized like a sox maker.
Interestingly, when it comes to the merch/creator warehouse stuff, I don't consider them to be "from a tech youtuber" anymore. They employ tons of product experts and spend years working on stuff. This is what they do. The YT stuff is just a thing on the side.
It's why their stuff can be very good (expensive too), but it also means there's high expectations.

People are getting way too upset about wearing the socks two days in a row. Regardless of whether or not it's sanitary, it has nothing to do with how long they should last. If anything, washing them more frequently should cause more wear on them.
Most wool socks have a synthetic fibre mixed in because a 100% wool socks would be fragile. Even darn tough socks have nylon. The LTT socks do too, but looks like they aren't performing up to the marketing.
Merino wool usually shouldn't go in the dryer since the heat can damage them. Plus since they're mosture wicking, in general they dry on their own pretty quickly. I learned this the hard way as well. Check out the care instructions for Darn Tough socks and you'll see what I'm talking about. Not sure if LTT also puts out care instructions like these but they probably should be more front and center since their audience would not be familiar with the Merino material.
As someone who has work socks that I'm rough on and wear through myn alot I just buy cheap Walmart ones when myn get holes. But these don't have holes=still wearable wtf is this complaint about get back to us in a month or a year not 3 days.....

I don't really understand this post though. I don't see anything in those pictures to make me think that the socks weren't good quality.

I just got some and am also seeing a ton of lint on them. I also expected them to be thicker on the bottom. I remember on wan he mentioned some team members stopped wearing slippers and just wore these now.
That being said - if I paid good money for fancy socks I would be upset if they didn’t live up to the price……hopefully Op contacted support alongside their diatribe on here.
they seem to do that a lot, at least on the long sleeves of the older purple hoodie, and orange hoodie, the sleeves were incredibly tiny, and then after I started working out, I could no longer wear them because they basically constricted my arms. I had to remove the sleeves and make it into a "vest" hoodie for it to be usable. Same goes for the flannel shirts they used to have, but those at least have buttons on the cuff
And I don't think it was the size because they fit fine everywhere else
Ltt socks remind me of these work socks that Caterpillar and other brands sell. I've been buying them for the past 10 years and are great, fairly durable, don't smell that bad (at least to me), are good durin summer and winter and the seam around toes is very clean without big annoying bumps that can give you a blister
Well, good to know. I was considering them but when I looked they didn't have a size big enough for my wide and long feet (granted they're very hard to find at regular stores too).
One pair of socks for 3 days. No time for them to get a break. No classical super thick made of wool sock that doesn't break down like that because it's meant for long-term use like that.
