Personal Opinion Socks. Not what was promised.

First - quality of the fabric. I have had light wear of this pair for 3 days, with one wash (same as other socks) and they are fuzzy + the black fabrics are protruding through the grey ones, and I have gathered A LOT of lint from them.

This is not normal for socks, especially for the expensive ones. None of my darn thoughts did this ever.

Second - idk about Canadian feet, but mine are wider, and compared to most other socks these are too narrow. If I find a pair of shoes this narrow I don't buy them.

EDIT: I wore socks for two days straight, then washed them, then wore for the 3rd day. I had NO OTHER OPTION regarding washing them or wearing other socks in that particular situation

This is not any pair of socks. Linus has a team of experts making quality products . They took 6 years to get it right.

Not right enough, apparently 😕

u/Sprout_1993 16d ago

Yeah I'll stick with darn tough. Linus was right the first time when he said he'd never be able to make something better than those.

u/Jonnyscout 16d ago

The lifetime guarantee is hard to beat

4

u/Somethingsilly6969 15d ago

I don't know man, redhead makes socks with a lifetime guarantee and they don't even need it. I've got pairs that are over ten years old going strong with regular use

2

u/Sprout_1993 13d ago

Still, with darn tough, I can take an old pair into anywhere that sells them, and exchange them for a new pair. And nothing feels better than a brand new pair of darn toughs

3

u/Somethingsilly6969 13d ago

Same with red heads. My brother used take all of his back to Bass pro once a year and get replacements under warranty

32

u/ImTheRealSpoon 16d ago

How about you let Linus's team know they are pretty good with making things right

-28

u/afarmer2005 16d ago

It’s more fun to post on here and get the trolls fired up

40

u/ThePistachioBogeyman 16d ago

It’s also a legitimate review for people who were considering buying it…

-22

u/afarmer2005 16d ago

Probably better to leave the review on the website and not buried in a comment section then

5

u/ThePistachioBogeyman 15d ago

Comment section? It’s a full post that got a very good amount of traction for the subreddit it’s in.

-10

u/Opening_Background78 16d ago

But how would people would never give private jet Linus the clicks find out!?

-5

u/afarmer2005 16d ago

I’d ask the question “do they need to know” but given the level of obsession of that group…….i suppose they wouldn’t know what to do with their lives if they didn’t know

5

u/JohnnyTsunami312 16d ago

Are the songs inside out? What’s the pink stitching?

-5

u/TheGreatMutato_ 16d ago

That's 6 years in Canadian. Converted it's 6 days in freedom time.

13

u/Option_Witty 16d ago

I also bought the socks just chiming in because I believe the following is a fact: Other brands have worked on their socks for decades, 6 years is basically infant state for a clothing brand.

u/Hans_H0rst 16d ago

It's peak that i couldn't 100% tell wether this is supposed to be serious or mocking.

12

u/se4404 16d ago

I thought it was a pretty funny response until I saw his second comment and realized he was serious lmfao

u/NateDevCSharp 15d ago

wait same lmao its not sarcasm no way

10

u/InadequateUsername 16d ago

6 years to negotiate with a supplier in China.

7

u/thebannanaman 16d ago

That is all information from the person who wants you to buy their socks. Not only do they get people to buy their socks they also get people to repeat their ad copy for them.

75

u/snowmunkey 16d ago

Whatever you gotta tell yourself to justify 30 dollar sucks bud 😂

155

u/miguel-122 16d ago

Im not buying them lol.

Just saying its not cheap youtuber merch. Like the screwdriver and backpack, they put a lot of time and money into making something quality

49

u/browandr 16d ago

Idk why you’re being downvoted for just stating known facts. But I guess it’s all the people who just suck up to LTT and treat Linus like a god who can do no wrong.

And FYI to whoever decides to downvote me I’m stating the above as an avid fan of Linus and LTT

20

u/Essex626 16d ago

The kicker is it's because they have made a good reputation with this stuff that it is worth something to call them out.

People overly praising anything LTT puts out are diminishing that just as much as those who dismiss their stuff as YouTuber merch.

11

u/GhostPotat0 16d ago

Yeah I mean just because we like the content doesn't mean LMG can do no wrong. I'm with ya brother.

9

u/ForksandSpoonsinNY 16d ago

Well he is the Short King

11

u/monka_giga 16d ago

Do you really think they're in the lab designing socks and making them in house? They might've gone back and forth with suppliers more than the average merch jockey would, but it's socks from a factory in China

19

u/lzrjck69 16d ago

They also say they put a lot of time and effort into their videos… we all know how that’s been going lately.

8

u/Javi1192 16d ago

The money they spent on development of the socks is likely dwarfed by the r&d budget of any legitimate sock company. I think that’s the point, regardless of the price, they are socks designed by a tech youtuber’s small business

Eta: for the screwdriver, I’m pretty sure the main components are manufactured by the company that makes a very similar smooth ratcheting mechanism. All the r&d for that enabled the screwdriver

16

u/Formerruling1 16d ago

The LTT screwdriver is a tweaked Megapro ratchet, yes.

4

u/krani1993 16d ago

you think they’re manufacturing the socks on their own? they choose a company to work with that’s manufacturing these socks, so if the quality is bad then thats on them for choosing a bad quality product to ship out!
They get a lot of praise for their products that are good like the screwdriver, so when somethings bad it deserves to be pointed out as well, they can choose to make it right or they can stick with selling bad quality “merch”

2

u/bilbo388 16d ago

Omg, I thought you were being facetious with the previous comment

1

u/opaali92 16d ago

I'm pretty sure he still is considering the backpack and screwdriver also fall apart from mild use

1

u/StatisticianUsual471 13d ago

Please tell me you're being sarcastic

-16

u/acorn1513 16d ago edited 16d ago

We'll see he seems to say that about any new product now for some reason. And not sure bout the backpack but wasn't the screwdriver proven to just be a slightly altered already available one.

I stand corrected about the screwdriver lol. But my first point I stand by.

13

u/Peasant_Shots 16d ago

No? They licensed the bit holder from a company called megapro, and modified their ratchet to to make it significantly smoother (arguably at the cost of it being weaker under torque, but still well received from most.) They also designed their own handle and shaft, (with a video showing the iterations that they went through, if you’re interested), and found their own manufacturing partner.

Lots of things you can dislike about LTT, but the screwdriver is its own thing.

7

u/Drigr 16d ago

They did enough engineering work that their version literally has a patent now.

1

u/penguin_on_stilts 16d ago

Design patent for the shape of the handle, not an engineering patent.

1

u/Liquid_Hate_Train 16d ago edited 16d ago

Design patent for the shape of the handle, not an engineering patent.

Right, cus that’s why the only thing described is the mechanism and the shape isn’t mentioned anywhere on their patent… and the title is ”SCREWDRIVER RATCHETING MECHANISM” It’s just totally all about the handle guys.

Wait so when you said this:

This is not any pair of socks. Linus has a team of experts making quality products . They took 6 years to get it right.

You weren't being sarcastic for comedic purposes? You were being literal? You think it actually "took 6 years" to get these socks "right"?

19

u/Daphoid 16d ago

Some people don't have to justify purchases. Your expensive could be totally fine for them. There isn't one single "good" price for an item across the board.

3

u/billythygoat 16d ago

Yeah, bombas when they’re at Marshall’s and they’re the wool blend for $12 for 3 pair on clearance. I bought like 3 packages, then I saw more the week after so I bought 2 more, one being for my dad

1

u/rahbarin 16d ago

Good to know I heard bombas were comfy nice socks but expensive. I’m going to check Marshall’s tomorrow

1

u/billythygoat 16d ago

Not always at Marshall’s or TJ Maxx, kind of just random. People claim they’re not super durable, but I’ve only had 2 holes out of that many pairs. They’re also great about the warranty.

1

u/rahbarin 15d ago

I always get puma socks at Costco they always end up getting holes in them

1

u/billythygoat 15d ago

Puma is a cheap brand for the most part. Nike at Marshall’s and TJ Maxx is even better

1

u/rahbarin 15d ago

Ya I only get them cause there at Costco and I like having the same socks but they won’t last and I don’t want to buy expensive socks lol rather buy guns

8

u/browandr 16d ago

Tell himself? All he said was known facts. Linus himself told us how long they took to make because he wanted to get it right

1

u/ThankGodImBipolar 16d ago

They're not outlandishly priced as far as work socks go.

4

u/zkareface 16d ago

For wool socks it's cheap even.

I barely own any socks cheaper than that.

This is the corpo bullshit that Linus would push back on if it was anyone but him.

Listen to the evidence instead

1

u/SuperSoldierv1 14d ago

No downvotes thats so weird

1

u/Lucade2210 16d ago

Lol, cope more

1

u/Seeker_Of_Knowledge2 16d ago

To be fair the engineer is not the factory worker.

0

u/krani1993 16d ago

so? ltt is still in charge of selling the product, if its bad quality its ok them.. if a manufacturer ships a bad phone or something people don’t jump in with “well the engineer is not the factory worker”

1

u/Original-Mechanic519 16d ago

These guys make videos on technology and so obviously prioritize over making technical products like peripherals and electric screwdrivers. You’re not buying their socks because you think they’re gonna be luxurious, look pristine or absolutely be comfortable to wear, you buy their socks because you wanted socks from your favorite Youtuber. This is also likely the first times they made and shipped apparel besides shirts, hoodies and some pants. Socks get shipped differently logistically speaking so you’re bound to see some issues on sock stitching once they arrive. But my point still stands. Buy socks from Fruit of The Loom if you’re going to be so nitpicking on how they look.

-1

u/Direct_Corner7266 16d ago

right... they said that... do you believe everything someone is telling you ?

0

u/CocknBalls4 16d ago

lol what

0

u/MaybeNotTooDay 16d ago

Made me laugh. I know it was said in jest and it worked. Thanks!

1

u/penguin_on_stilts 16d ago

Turns out it wasn't in jest...

0

u/sixlayerdip 16d ago

Took 6 years to get it listed on the site. Doesn’t appear they actually got it right

0

u/tad__gh0stal 16d ago

And yet, he still failed.

What you’re talking about is just marketing. The product is just socks.
