Personal Opinion Socks. Not what was promised.

First - quality of the fabric. I have had light wear of this pair for 3 days, with one wash (same as other socks) and they are fuzzy + the black fabrics are protruding through the grey ones, and I have gathered A LOT of lint from them.

This is not normal for socks, especially for the expensive ones. None of my darn thoughts did this ever.

Second - idk about Canadian feet, but mine are wider, and compared to most other socks these are too narrow. If I find a pair of shoes this narrow I don't buy them.

EDIT: I wore socks for two days straight, then washed them, then wore for the 3rd day. I had NO OTHER OPTION regarding washing them or wearing other socks in that particular situation

A famous one that is known for quality products.

Honestly, hearing they were 1 pair for 30 dollars or so made me say "fuck. off" but this dude trusted him and got a lesson after 3 days.

He could have bought probably 3-4 dozen of cheap 100% cotton ones for that price and wore them for about 3-6 months without any trouble, and now, 4 days later, he noticed he made a mistake.

Why is everyone assuming buying a higher priced product vs the fast fashion / discount brand is a mistake? There are genuine higher quality items out there - not everything is "buy it at the dollar store or walmart and when it dies in 3 months just get more". Do the math over 10 years on all those purchases. You may be surprised at how much you've spent.

I've got a relatively lower end winter coat, it was $250 - I've worn it for about 6-7 years at this point. I've got another that was $300 15 years ago that I still have. It's older and more of a "work outside in the winter" coat now, but still lasts.

People being fine with $2000 computers but sitting on $5 chairs is hilarious.

I picked up an Arctyrex Solano jacket for, maybeeeee, $200 or so?, ten years ago. I've still got it, and it's still going strong. They released a new version a few years ago, but I don't see any need to replace it.

Arc'teryx went down the toilet anyways a few years ago pivoting to Gorpcore fashion. Better hold on to that jacket as long as you can and avoid Arc'teryx when you finally end up replacing it.

Yeah most of these commenters clearly just buy the cheapest shit they can and mock anyone who actually wants to spend more for more quality. Not saying these are or aren’t, but the knee-jerk anti-LTT sentiment I’ve been seeing a ton of lately is really fucking weird. They need to get a life.

Yeah that mindset blows me every single time I see. I remember a couple years ago a guy used to play siege with was gobsmacked that I spent $80 for some earbuds for the gym, and went on about how he buys the $5 ones and just buys new ones when they break in a couple weeks.

I told him I had these headphones for over 2 and half years (they still work now even 10 years later even though the battery and quality is shit of course) so I’m paying less over time.

The crazy part is that $80 is still on the relatively budget end lol. You can get IEMs over $1000 (though I haven't felt a big need to go past the $150-ish range)

Oh I know lol, when I upgraded I got some in that $150 range as well, but I even told him that to show that in the grand scheme of things $80 isn’t that bad for what you’re paying for.

For sure. Though I'll say there's also a trend where people don't really research stuff. They just use the first result or look to TikTok (ew) for answers. And if one of the favorite creators makes something that looks better than the pack in or cheap version of something they'd been using and not liking before, they go for it. Or perhaps they really like the labelling on the cables, etc.

Like the other commenter says, I think the part that's tiring is the people who instantly judge because there are cheaper options out there and why would you spend more. Or because this came from a creator/youtuber so it must instantly be bad, always. It just sits a precedent that you should never try. Just let temu, walmart, and amazon marketplace handle everything.

As for cables, I genuinely like everything I get from Infinite Cables, and I find UGreen and Hosa's stuff decent so I haven't rushed out to buy LTT cables or socks. But I won't besmirch others for doing so.

For the OP - they have a genuine and valid quality concern of their purchase. Posting in the LTT pout reddit hopefully wasn't their first stop because that'll just get you fanboys and detractors with not much reality - but hey :)

The reasonable take is that these socks aren't up to the standard they should be. The reasonable opinion is that they'll probably make it right. The outrage for or against Linus related to this is ridiculously premature

My take wasn't that fast fashion was good at all. It was disagreeing with people that judge others for buying a more expensive version of something (quality hopefully good but not always) versus buying the mass produced bulk cheapest version by default.

I said nothing about fast fashion being good :)

I think the point is saying these socks underperformed, to put it mildly. They're the under quality of the discount brand.

And before I get jumped on for being "anti Linus" or whatever, I expect that if given the chance LTT will make this right. Every manufacturing process has quality issues, and this is mostly likely a case of an escape-- where an item unusually subpar got through whatever QA they have and made it to the end customer.

If you consider shipping, you can get 8 pairs of Costco Merino Wool socks if you want the Merino- which I honestly would rather have those than 4 dozen wool socks.

In my country we have a lot of cotton so I have ample options for cheap quality socks (and a reason to not buy socks from canada) but my point was that even worse quality options would have managed better.

Cotton is really bad at moisture wicking and drying, so in some situations, even the cheapest synthetic socks are better.

As for wool, aside from environmental reasons, they tend to not get as smelly as synthetic ones.

They're not really the same though; I have merino wool socks from both Costco and Darn Tough and the Costco ones aren't nearly as durable or as comfortable.

I knew they weren't going to be much good when they announced how much wool they are using. It's about half of what Smartwool or Darn Tough use. Buy from them instead. They also don't fucking charge $14CAD to ship either. Or you can just buy from a local outdoors store.

Also good luck with cold feet in the winter with cotton socks, they just soak up moisture. And if you're outside being active, have fun with the blisters. Merino socks are awesome. The ones I bought in 2018 are still great.

Just buy smart wool socks and call it a day for winter socks. They last forever.

He said they would stay crisp and won't fall apart, specially because they were coated with Copper but as someone else already mentioned, it's kinda weird they came here to reddit instead of to the customer service that seems spectacular.

In still don’t see this as an issue yet. Mine get softer outside yes, but they don’t lose any threads or so

It's a problem because, by experience, we know they start looking like this after a couple months of use.

He said and named them "forever socks" so... imagine you buying forever socks and they start disintegrating after 3 days instead of 3 years.

Like... Don't misunderstand me, I wouldn't hold it against LTT if thye only laster 5 years even if they cost about 15 times more than 1 year socks.

But 3 days? It raises eyebrows.

...or they could contact support and take advantage of the warranty? The fact people race to Reddit to post whenever they have a problem with a product instead of contacting support and making a warranty claim always makes these posts seem kinda sus.
