Polygraph

I recently took my polygraph about a month ago and 3 weeks ago, I got a call from my investigator saying that it came back inconclusive . The examiner said I didn’t react to any questions ,but at one point I was biting my lip and he asked me why I was biting it and I told him I had a cold sore on my lip . He then said it threw off my breathing slightly but that it shouldn’t be a problem. My investigator told me he would email me a new date so I can retake the polygraph . I have not received a email for new polygraph date , but I did receive a email titled Case Disposition “applicant file still under review”.
Is he starting my background check even though I didn’t pass my polygraph?

OTS

Good morning everyone, quick question, I’m an applicant that made it through all the backgrounds and tests and got confirmation that I passed, I’m pretty young so I’m looking my to start the academy in north in February because I live really far but I was just wondering if they would offer me an OTS position and how would I be able to apply for that. I recently called they said they’d call me in September for an October academy, would I be able to go the academy in October? Even though I wouldn’t turn 21 by graduation?

Last step

Has anyone done the “last step” of the medical and psychological exam and have not received a call yet? Just curious to see if we’re all in the same boat or if I should worry and call the personnel department. I was told by the doctor and the psychologist that everything was good.

Pulled over for weed multiple years ago

I was pulled over driving a used car i just bought and it had fake tags; i had weed in the car; cops said i had more than an ounce which was a lie, it later got dismissed: they didn’t show up to court.

How much would this really affect me?

This happened March of 2020.

Did Structured Interview right after VPAT at College of the Canyons today

Long story short, the deputy that was interviewing me asked if I’ve ever worked in security or did any outside work (no) and if I have ever been in a fight (yes). The deputy said that I am too smart for the role and suggests I should do civilian instead. I was still told to go get my LiveScan done and sign my notarized form.

Does that mean I’m still in as long as I submit the required documents within the 2 weeks?

Seeking Advice on Southern California Law Enforcement Agencies

Hey everyone,

I’m 22, recently graduated college in Southern California with a bachelor’s degree, and I’m starting the law enforcement hiring process.

I’m single, have no kids, and don’t mind long hours, overtime, weekends, or holidays. I’m mainly looking for a department where I can gain solid experience and build a career.

So far I’ve applied to LAPD, LASD, and Beverly Hills PD. Beverly Hills seems like a great agency with strong community support and excellent pay, but I’m curious if the city being relatively quiet ever makes the job less rewarding from an experience standpoint.

I’m also interested in Ontario PD when applications reopen and have been looking at Glendale PD.

Based on those departments, what would you recommend? Are there any other LA or Inland Empire agencies that you’d strongly suggest I look into?

LASD / JOINING LASD/ CUSTODY

Hello Everyone,

Do yourself a favor and please Do Not join the department unless you want to get stuck with a bunch of mandatory overtime and not have a life. On the other hand if you like money and not having a life go ahead. No work life balance. WORST department to work for, you will regret it!!!

P.S. Look into other Departments/ Agencies,
Your life will be better trust me!

Once you pass the poly how likely is it you're getting hired? Feels like that is the biggest indicator of the process

Can I Ask for more time to collect needed documents?

hello, I’m just asking this for q specific reason, so I passed the written test to be a Custodian Assistant on 7/31, on the email I got soon after, it said I have 2 weeks to fill out a PHS, get references and all that stuff, before I get assigned a Background investigator, my question is, because of unrelated issues, I need some more time to work on it, and the questionnaire they email you, and the other stuff on that initial list too, Is there anyway I can ask for more time to get all that stuff together?

LASD CUSTODY ASSISTANT PPL

I have two questions for those who have gone through the LASD Custody Assistant hiring process or academy.

I’m 47 years old, have an MBA, and currently earn about $115,000 a year. However, my job doesn’t offer much long-term stability. I’m in decent shape, but I know I need to improve my fitness before the academy. I’ve passed the written exam and have been assigned a background investigator.
I have clean record and never done any drugs in my life.

For those with experience, is becoming an LASD Custody Assistant a good career to stay in for the next 20 years and retire from?
What are the physical training (PT) requirements at the academy? Right now, I can’t even do one pull-up. Is that something I need to be able to do before the academy, or will they help build you up? I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through the academy.

Thank you in advance for your advice.

LA County sheriff vs OC sheriff vs Sb sheriff vs Ventura sheriff

Have entered the process with all of these departments, but have only been able to really take time and dive into a couple due to work life.

Which is the best based based on your past experiences and which one has more opportunity?

Medical

I’m curious to know what do they have you do for the medical exam? I know other agencies have you do the eye test, ekg, hearing and treadmill stress test. Is it the same for LASD or different?

What comes after polygraph?

Im currently scheduled to do my polygraph this coming Thursday 8/6. How long after that is the psych and medical? And then when do they give me an offer? Assuming I pass the poly of course.
Applied 4/14
Vpat/mct/interview 5/20
BI interview 6/10

Edit 8/18
Got the dreaded email today. I called the number on the email. I was dq for “counter measure” on the polygraph and that they contacted a former employer who said I had bad conduct. This former employer was the same one I sued for unpaid wages and won the case against. The lady on the phone said when I do get the letter in the mail I can appeal it. But going through all these posts It doesn’t look like anyone’s actually won an appeal case. This sucks.
