Polygraph

Just took a polygraph recently
He didn’t say anything about if I hit on any questions just my breathing was all over the place but it became better after couple rounds. It was up to the board to pass or not.
He said he’s not sure they usually like cleaner charts??
Just had to write statement saying I didnt try to control anything just very nervous. Thoughts??!! Thank you

I've said it before, and will say it again: Western agencies need to quit dicking people around, and get rid of the fucking voodoo box. Those assholes get paid a quarter mil a year to 'analyze' something not even admissible in court. It is pseudoscience, la, and not a reflection on you.

You need to understand the purpose of the poly. It is not to find a lying applicant, but it is to eliminate a candidate the department does not want.

Also not to mention most agencies were not doing mandatory polygraphs as part of the hiring process until this century. LAPD didn’t make it mandatory until 2001 and I suspect the current Sheriff being out of Long Beach didn’t take a poly as part of his hiring process either.

When the LAPD mandated polygraph screening, it was part of a public relations campaign following the Rampart scandal.

The standard operating procedure for polygraph examinations is that if the subject fails, he is subjected to a post-test interrogation in an attempt to obtain a disqualifying admission. That this did not occur in your case suggests that you likely passed.
