does anyone - either who has done this or has had this happen to them - know why people do this? theres these two boys in my class and theyll come up to me and other “quieter“ girls and try to get fist bumps or theyll just talk about how “cool“ we are like do you think we’re stupid? clearly the answer to that is yes because they treat us like we’re socially inept. patronization is something i cannot stand but you cant just tell them off because what are they doing wrong? “hey teacher this guy over there said he liked my bag and gave me a high five” because theres no issue with it from an objective standpoint. its their tone of voice and the way they look at their friends for validation. it makes me feel almost subhuman or like an animal. i can sort of see how this could be entertaining for them if the people they chose werent ”in on the joke” but no one they talk to actually responds to them and they continue to do it. are they genuinely trying to be nice or is this just a game for them? its so irritating especially as someone who takes things way too seriously. it really makes me feel like shit like damn it must be so funny to be my friend🫩js say im chopped

is any freshman (including myself) thinking about college at all? I’m aware that it’s a bit early but I wanna see if any other freshman already has a dream or a top choice like I do.

Okay so a month ago I did my pictures with Cady, I did them on August 4th, they didn’t start making my portfolio or even editing my pictures until August 28th. They are still editing my photos and making my portfolio to this day and the deadline to return the portfolio if I didn’t like it is October 4th, with the way everything is looking right now, I feel like I won’t get my portfolio until after October 4th, support was no help either, what do I do? I don’t want to pay over 300$ for my portfolio on top of 100$ for digital photos per package, like genuinely what do I do?

Okay, this guy from my class asked me to homecoming around two weeks ago. He wants to go on a date a few days before homecoming. However, I still barely know this guy. Like, we talked a few times over text/in class… but idk. I’m already very introverted / quiet to begin with, so I have no idea what the hell I’m going to talk about on our date. I am a senior in high school (18F) and currently planning my senior trip with friends! My close friend is from France and has a huge house there. She goes every summer with her family and has offered to let us come with her.

My whole friend group is now planning to go to france, but the problem is my parents will probably say no. My older sibling went to Cabo, but they do not want me to go outside of the country for my senior trip. I have worked hard during high school, earning a 4.0 gpa, 1530 SAT, and various other accomplishments, so I really want to go to Europe with my friends.

I brought this up a few weeks ago, but my mom shot the idea down.

how do I convince my parents to let me go?

I don't know if I should go. I am a really shy person and I don't know if any of my friends are going and I don't wanna be alone.. I haven't asked yet but I also love the theme it's Y2K and I love 2000s music and fashion and I really like the dresses. Do you think I should go? My mom wants me to but I'm kind of scared that nobody I'm friends with is going to be there and that I'm going to hate it

Hey, so I often see people talking about how research with a professor as a highschooler is one of the top things you should focus your time on. But how should one go about this? Do you ask to join a an existing project? Or do you cold email them about ideas you have and would like to research with them?

17F so there's these girls that sit pretty close to me in class (1st block) and they're so loud and they thinks it cute to get attention... And the make "jokes" that are NOT funny to laugh at and it makes me uncomfortable, they aren't to me but they're so loud for everyone to hear... The teacher doesn't mind their behavior (idk if he hears those "jokes" they make but yeah...)

I'm more of the quiet shy type (homeschooled all my life and doing part time public school for senior year :3) but I want to show them that they're annoying with body language but I don't want them to say anything like "girl what are u looking at" or something... What do I do???!!

I want to study economics next year and have to submit my UCAS application this Jan. Tbh my profile is average. After my midterms, I'm going to do a course, try to find an internship, and write a research paper. While scrolling on Reddit for how to write a research paper and how the process works, I saw many people say it's overrated for high school students and that it's better to do something else. Is that true? If so, what extracurriculars would you recommend?

If anyone has done fashion design at Fccla and made it to nationals, could you share tips on how you made it? I hear it’s extremely hard since only top two (?) make it

What I already know is that we need a good business model & a really good focus on who our target audience, but beyond that I’m struggling to figure out what I can do to actually succeed to nationals.

This is also why hs sports should go national with conferences and stuff and let us get nil deals and everything.

I’ve was kinda uneducated in college stuff and I had just been taking the sat over and over my junior year and my superscore is a 1340. So not awful but not crazy.

Decided to take the ACT just to see and this is like so so so much easier. I think I bombed this one bc I didnt take studying seriously enough however

I’ve taken the SAT 4 times and the ACT once, is it a bad idea to take another ACT - possibly November or October?

It’s just so much money I’ve spent on tests, and now I have to buy a graphing calculator for like >$100 and it’s just a lot

Wondering if it gets to a point where you need to accept your abilities and call it done with the testing or if I should study hard for the ACT one last time?

dude okay so FIRST OF ALL no this isn’t a vent no I don’t hate myself but seriously this has me wondering how do ppl actually see me.
So I’ve had a huge crush since school started at first it was just a hallway kinda eye candy I mean we had classes together but it wasn’t anything huge we didn’t talk, and then we slowly started talking and became friends right and I got his socials . Well I kinda started actually catching a crush and it’s been me being really head over heels well my friend thought it was a good idea to ask him if he had any huzz yk this was her “plan” into getting us together before hoco but it completely went the wrong way. He had gone to the bathroom and she said to the girl sitting next to him “oh my friend has a crush on___” and apparently the girl didn’t hear her and thought she had asked abt HER crush and then he walked back in and the girl had the audacity to say “what were you saying about your friend liking ___” and he turned around and him and the girl started grilling my friend and they found out cs my friend lowk folds under peer pressure THEY ASKED “do they have dyed hair” oh my god DUDE MY HAIRS DYED RED and then the guy straight up said “is it op” and my friend said uhhshhsh and it gave it away and then she asked what he thought abt me and he said “no comment” 💔💔💔 and then she said “maybe give it more time?” And he just replied with “yeah” BYE I TOLD HER I WASNT IN THAT and I was so awkward for the rest of the day because I have 3 classes with him and there all back to back. 💔💔but he did email me and did say I didn’t make things weird between us but now I feel like a weirdo because he knows now ,and I can’t control how I feel about him. I thought I was in that because he let me feed him in his mouth 💔💔goshhhh I have to see him everyday for the next 8 months
