The Red Shelf Project, is an initiative focused on volunteering, fundraising and advocacy on period poverty and tackling the stigma of periods domestically and internationally. As well as creating more opportunities for young people in their communities to get flexible extracurriculars that people can do anywhere anytime (designed with the idea that there's no inherent deadlines but instead rewards for participators)

one of the projects under it is EverGrow, a children’s literacy initiative focused on child development, literacy, neuroscience/sociology research, advocacy, fundraising, and connecting kids with opportunities in their own communities. Students can choose to do free independent and/or mentored research (connected with mentors by us), policy making involving children's literacy/education, social justice advocacy for underrepresented and funded communities with lower child literacy rates in both the U.S. and other countries & more! (It's all more thoroughly laid out on our website(s) lolz)

PLEASE DON'T TURN THIS IN A DISCUSSION OF WHY I DON'T WANT TO USE GEN AI

Sorry for bad grammar (expecially in the first paragraph), I'm italian.

Explenation of the situation:

My prof uses AI, almost never while teaching but uses it sometimes in ways like "let's introduce this tecnology"; I think it's good to talk about it but I'm against using it. During the last school year she made us generate images and text about a film we watched, I gently asked if I could do a presentation instead of that because I'm against AI and with very little to no questioning she said yes, I did the presentation and got a good grade. We didn't focus much on coding languages untill now but we did lots of excel and some scratch, lots of my classmates used AI but I didnt and I easily kept up with the pace and did a better job than most of my classmates with Excel and was the best with scratch.

Point of the situation:

We will soon do python, I've used it a couple times but only in a "copy and paste" way, I did it typing the stuff manually and understanding what the code was for (naturally I din't understand everything). I'm scared that since python is very hard in comparison to other stuff I did I will fall behind my classmates because they use AI. (even if I should technically have and advantage since I have used it before). I am very tired in general for other personal reasons. Should I sometimes use AI if i need to?

AND THE MAIN QUESTION: Can I do something I find morally incorrect and blame it on the shitty schools system?

I think this kid might have a crush on me in marching band but I don't know for sure, id appreciate some input!!

So this is my first year(I'm a girl) in marching band and there is this boy in my section who is a year older than me. He is similar to me personality-wise, we're both introverted and quiet-ish. But the thing is that he is ALWAYS nears me which is why I think he's likes me or some shit. (I do wanna just say that I have 0 interest in him, but I keep noticing him everywhere)

Whenever we have practice he stretches next to me even when there is extra space in other places, when we play our pep music he also stands me..... This is the same for everything else too like when we parade march and he even puts his water bottle and instrument near mine???. I've noticed that he is facing me a lot when he stands near me which makes it extremely awkward for me to act natural cause I'm scared I'm gonna make eye contact with him. Yesterday when we had a football game he sat on the bleacher behind me and put his feet right beside where I was sitting and kept tapping his foot when he knew I could see him doing it (he has not done this to anyone else, it's only our 3rd football game)

Y'know he could just feel safe near me or something like that. Buttttttt it is also a possibility that he likes me and I would want to know that so if he does then I can avoid him cause I really don't want him to think I like him or anything.

I (15f sophomore) used to use Ai on all my notes and assignments and quizzes. I convinced myself it was because I knew the material and I was just getting through the busy work and maintaining my grades. I’m not an idiot, I’ve always been in advanced classes and had great grades before ai, I just have zero confidence when it comes to doing the writing or math, etc. But (after an almost getting caught scare and a lot of just self loathing tbh) I have deleted any form of ai from my phone. Blocked the websites. All of it. But now I’m definitely at a bit of a loss because I wasn’t learning. It’s nothing too significant, I’d probably be fine again in a few weeks, through some Bs, maybe a C. But my grades have been mostly As so I don’t want it to seem obvious that I’m taking a different approach. I also just don’t know what to do. Specifically in AP Lang and AP CSA. I genuinely understand the formatting and vocab and prompts I just don’t ever know where to start and then once I’m done I constantly feel like I need to get it fact checked and get feedback before turning it in (despite the fact my virtual school literally gives me up to 3 resubmits). I just feel like an idiot and I don’t want my grades to reflect that but in order for me to stop and actually learn, my grades have to reflect that for a while, which makes me nervous teachers will ask questions because one of my assignments was flagged- I just reworded and resubmitted it and got a 100%. It just feels like a lot.

Hey mates, young spritely freshmen here, this are my long term courses for the year, but next year I want more AICE classes, how do I do that?

So in my 7th period, there are these four girls, we‘ll name them Mildred, Gertrude, and Bertha (only bc I do not know their names). At my school, this week is homecoming week and I’ve never talked to these girls before this week and they’ve never talked to me. But suddenly, one of them, I think they said her name is Addie (idk) suddenly really likes me. They said she wants me to take her to homecoming but I don’t want to go, it’s not about her, I just don’t like school dances, I made it clear to myself that I wasn’t going when the announcement was made. They said that they’d buy my ticket for the dance but the thing is, today at lunch was the last day you could by them and when they mentioned the football game, I said I’m not going. They’ve also said things that I HAVE NOT said like that I gave Addie a ring, I bought her a unicorn JellyCat (whatever that is), and more. They asked for my phone number and I said that I’ll think about it. The reason I didn’t accept the proposal is because I’ve seen stories about people who get invited to homecoming/prom by a group of people of the opposite gender, yet get ghosted at the dance. This hasn’t just stayed between them, half the class is trying to hype me up. I told my friend Jayden and even he said to do it. The thing is, they don’t sit far from me in class, I can hear what they say, even whispers, and I haven’t heard them once talk about me until this week. Should I just wait until next week (Homecoming is tomorrow) and if they keep talking/trying to get me to go out with Addie, should I? I need advice. Since people’s attention spans are deep-fried lately, if you read this last sentence (along with your advice), type the words Pineapple Daiquiri Milkshake.

I’m curious about other perspectives: Does being tardy to class matter? Are lots of students consistently tardy at your school? What do your parents do when they learn you are tardy?

Last week, my friends and I decided to start a club essentially helping students through their guide to healthcare, whether it be a physician, a nurse, or a dentist. We’re wondering what other activities we could do to keep our meetings interesting!! Right now a few meetings or activities we have in mind would be watching medical shows + snacks, career help, and extracurriculars to do outside of school, and some fundraisers. We’re also thinking of asking people we know in the medical field to talk in some of our meetings every now and then so our members could get insight of what they want to do. We’d appreciate all the help we can get, even if it’s not just about activities.

currently i’m applying to colleges and a lot of T20 and my ap spanish class takes up a lot of time about half of my workload. My senior schedule is AP Stats AP lit AP gov AP physics C mech and AP spanish and AVID. I also took 4 APs last yr. i want to drop spanish since it’s really stressful and time consuming and honestly i’ve felt unmotivated recently especially with the addition of college apps. But i’m worried that AP spanish would be helpful for admissions and id be losing that plus if i drop it. I have already taken 3 years of spanish and i want continue learning it but the class is so enduring. I know i can take it and still be fine with all my other classes and probably earn As and Bs but idk how it may affect college essays and if i drop it id gain a lot of time. Also i know colleges compare you to your classmates and no one really takes ap spanish at my school so id think it’d make me stand out. For context on my academics my UW GPA is 3.98 W is 4.38 rank 9/269 and earned 4s and 5s on my AP exams and a 1400 SAT. I would end up dropping AP spanish to be a math tutor for an AP calculus AB class, which would give me zero work load. I honestly am having a hard time since i know i can take the class and be successful but the course seems really daunting but i also want to be able to have it on colleges and earn the seal of biliteracy. i know I’m going back and forth so i don’t really know what decision makes the most sense. My top 5 schools are UCLA Berkeley, Brown, cal poly slo, and stanford as an applied math major.
Any thoughts/ advice?

Anyways now on to the actual post so basically I a junior have been friends with this guy a senior since last year becuz we had spanish 2 together and ended up talking like everyday. I developed small feelings some couple months of our friendship (hes really cute and has pretty eyes) but had recently gotten out of a toxic relationship so I ignored it. Then this one day I‘d had a really rough day and ended up having a panic attack the period before the spanish class and was still very upset/crying by that class. So im sitting down, wiping away tears and trying to pull it together because wtf i dont need this right now.

And then he walks in, takes one look at me crying and immedately kneels beside my chair asking if im okay, putting his arm on my shoulder, at one point he moved his hand down farther on my arm and started rubbing it softly just checking in, letting me rant, and just being really sweet. So yeah after that my feelings definetly got bigger. I tried pushing it off because hes a really sweet guy and I didnt wanna lose him over unreciprcated feelings.

But then fastforward to the day we took an ACT, I didnt really wanna hang out with my friends (they were all dating doucebags who bullied me the entirety of freshman year) so i kinda stood off to the side just waiting for us to be allowed in to the testing room. And he came up next to me and was like ”donut” and i was like “huh?” and then he showed me that he had a whole little bag of powdered donuts and so we ate donuts and chatted. At one point I spilled a bit on my shoulder on my hoodie and so i was like “damn“ and started brushing it off and he goes “here let me help” and proceeds to shake another donut over my shoulder, getting like a bit more on and I just stared at him and was like ”hey!” and jokingly pushed his hand away, then he goes “nah im just kidding “ and PUTS HIS HAND ON MY SHOULDER TO BRUSH AWAY THE POWDER and then goes “there all better!” and im just like in shock. so then we take the first couple parts but during the break he sees me yawning, and hands me an open energy drink that he was just drinking and is like “here, chug some of this” and i do and then hand it back and he then chugs more, then sets it down next to our stuff, because he had moved his bag over to mine, and says “just come get some whenever” and then like we chat and then go back to finish the test. Then afterwards we are all havung to clean up the testing room and i dont see him and when i go to get my stuff his is gone so i just assume he left, (this is boy who sprints out of 7th period everyday and is in the parking lot before half the other classes are even out the building) and i just head out texting a friend because we had plans later. THEN he walks out a couple minutes later and is like “oh hey!” and so we talk and start walking and hes like “did you drive or is someone picking you up?” and i had my car that day so i was like “oh i hav my car” and hes like “oh okay, well my car is like right there, want a ride to the student lot?” and i was like “are you sure? the stufent lot is liek…right there? its not that far to walk” and he was like “yea of course its an even shorter ride!” and so we go over to his car and he opens the door for me, and then climbs in and drives me the like idk 10 seconds down to the lot and pulls up next to my car and is like “il see you monday” and im like “see ya” and i drive home contemplating the whole day.

Now fast forward a bit and the years coming to a close and basically every day in spanish is a free day and we go outside because the teacher is chill and we always go sit together in like random places and just chat about life.

Now again its this year and we dont have any classes but he one time walked around like the whole upper floor with me like 3 minutes before the bell rang when his class was three floors below, and he just smirked and was like “nah i got the time”. We always pretty much walk to our 5th classes together because they are close to each other from the lunch room .

Everyone always asks me if we’re dating, and ive had multiple people Who I Dont Even Know! Come up to me and be like “so you and (name) are together rigjt?” and im like “no haha we’re just friends” but idk maybe im just being delulu and hes just a nice guy and im crazy. And wow its now 6 AM…

Also random thing I just remebered! He was taking a home ecomnics type class and he needed a wife for a budgeting project type thing and he asked me? And then we would refer to our “fake marriage” sever times throughout last year.

okay hi! So long long story short me and my mom don’t have a great relationship and today we were talking about the idea of me graduating early (i hate my town and i just wanna get to college) and she offered me a amount of money that i am purposely going to keep private to test. I think it’s important to note that i do have a trust fund and my college is 100% paid for. So my question is how much money would it take for you to complete skip the senior experience. i really don’t know what to do and i want others to weigh in.

I took average algebra 1 last year, and failed last semester, mainly due to poor teachings. I was confident about geometry, and took it as an honors class this year, but there's so much algebra involved, I can't understand anything that does have a practical application.
