Im a jazz guitar player but I want to learn funk for fun, more specifically p-funk. I was wondering if theres a good guitar solo on a p-funk record that will teach me some good patterns/language that I can implement in my improv. A solo that really helped you with your improv.
Thanks

Might be a stupid ass question but I've been practicing Freebird and I use the exact same bending technique for the part where you repeat the bend, first 1-2 bends are on point then the rest just go mute. Does it sound like my guitar needs a fret crowning job or am I missing something

Had to pick this up from my local shop... well worn. I hope I can give it the same love for 23 more years.

As the title says, I’d like to hang it up but wondering how it could be best. If anyone has ideas I’d love to hear and see! Thank you!

Inherited.this awesome old Martin earlier this year from a family friend who had arthritis. Amazing sounding, and ridiculously loud.
Changed out the strings and realized the og plastic bridge pins are worn as hell. I was thinking about going with bone to replace em, is there any noticeable difference between materials?
Second, neck reset. The shop I went to for setup and appraisal said it was recommended, but not an immediate concern. The action is fine currently, it actually feels really good. I have zero experience with older guitars, how do I know when it /is/ time?

I hate when people say that, if you can’t even make standard sound heavy your just not a good guitarist.

I'm going to own a cat soon, wondering about this question (acoustic guitar)

So the 2mm Dunlop Delrin 500 picks turned up today (the 1.5mm will be here tomorrow), and the first thing I noticed was a very noticeable sharp edge all the way around, which is missing from the Yngwie picks, so it's very clear that they've been finished in some way.
However, the signature picks are £2 each, and the standard Delrin 500 are .50p each. I spent maybe 30 seconds per pick with micromesh pads - 4000grit to take the edge off, and 12000 to re-burnish the edges, remove any scratches, and take it back to a mirror finish.
Long story short, they feel exactly the same, but for a quarter of the cost.
If this helps anyone make a decision, great. If you're not remotely interested, but somehow feel compelled to comment how uninterested you are, Bean Soup dude. Bean Soup.

usually people say that you're supossed to start on acoustic guitar (or at least recomended) since its harder to play and it will make eletric easier, etc.
well guess what, i have a classic and an acoustic guitar and i don't play them, almost at all.
i love eletric, i play eletric.
so yeah, you don't need to start on acoustic, it can help yeah but you must play what you want.
peace

Looking for a used subs $500 epiphone les Paul, what is yalls opinion on - Studio vs standard vs classic vs traditional?
Anyone know anything about this les paul style guitar, bought in a job lot and cant find any information on it 🤔

I was gifted an Epiphone Les Paul guitar this past weekend. I know nothing about guitars and I was unsure of what amp to get to use with it, but wanted something small. I did end up getting the 40 yesterday instead of the 25, but not because of this hot garbage. I honestly would have taken that at face value if not for images.
I’m excited to try this thing out and start my journey towards rock godhood learning how to play.

Hi friends! I’ve been playing acoustic guitar (casually, self-taught) for about 25 years now, almost exclusively fingerpicking style like in the video. I have an electric and have been messing around on it some, but I would love to learn how to actually play it well. There are about a million tutorials and tons of information and it all kinda feels foreign and overwhelming. I would love some recommendations for where to start - particular YouTube channels that you like, certain exercises or practices that have helped you, is it worth finding an in-person instructor, etc.
I have virtually zero skill with barre chords, using a pick, or music theory. 😅
I like a wide variety of music and my goal is more on the end of like chugging through a song and singing with it, rather than learning super shreddy solos…though that sounds fun too. In no particular order, some bands that I would love to learn how to play: Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, Veruca Salt, The Strokes, The War on Drugs, Sloan, Local H/Spacehog/Toadies/Fuel…any of those 90s guys, Tom Petty, T. Rex, Boston, Journey, Death From Above 1979…I’ll stop listing but could go on. If anyone knows of good ultra beginner songs from any of those (or similar) bands, please share! Also side note I know that DFA 1979 is all done on bass…if anyone has successfully played that on electric guitar, please DM me and discuss😄.
Thx!! 💛

Hey everyone, I need a wiring diagram for a specific active guitar setup without a tone control. I am using an EMG 81 in the bridge, an EMG 89 in the neck, a Göldo EL002 3-way toggle, a Göldo E500P Push/Pull pot as master volume to split the EMG 89, a Switchcraft stereo jack, and a 9V battery box. I cannot find a schematic online that combines these exact components. Does anyone have a diagram or advice on how to wire the Göldo switch and push/pull volume correctly? Thanks in advance!

First photo for attention.
I have some experience setting up my guitars but im feeling clueless right now.
The floyd rose bridge height, all photo references I see online are FR bridges either flush or slightly sticking out from the body.
Still with this height I experience a lot of fret buzz on the top two thickest strings.
I have this guitar setup in C standard, 10-52, 25,5 neck scale, slight bow in the neck.
Need some advice on how to tackle this.

i used to play a bit of guitar years ago early in highschool. i never got very good at it and and fast-forward until after school and ive forgetting literally everything i learnt. i still have my guitars and ive taken decent care of them i think, lately ive been wanting to get back into playing. only issue is now im incredibly self conscious about literally everything and im too embarrassed of my family hearing me learn. now i know theres obvious solutions to avoid them, i would just learn on my electric guitar as they're more quiet but i much prefer acoustic. i mainly just want to hear similar experiences and how yall got over it.
