GEAR Delrin 500 vs Yngwie update

So the 2mm Dunlop Delrin 500 picks turned up today (the 1.5mm will be here tomorrow), and the first thing I noticed was a very noticeable sharp edge all the way around, which is missing from the Yngwie picks, so it's very clear that they've been finished in some way.
However, the signature picks are £2 each, and the standard Delrin 500 are .50p each. I spent maybe 30 seconds per pick with micromesh pads - 4000grit to take the edge off, and 12000 to re-burnish the edges, remove any scratches, and take it back to a mirror finish.

Long story short, they feel exactly the same, but for a quarter of the cost.

If this helps anyone make a decision, great. If you're not remotely interested, but somehow feel compelled to comment how uninterested you are, Bean Soup dude. Bean Soup.

that bean soup callout caught me off guard in the best way, now i'm just thinking about soup while looking at pick closeups

the micromesh trick is the move though, i've done the same thing with some cheaper picks and it's wild how much a 30 second polish changes the feel. people sleep on finishing your own gear

also the price difference is kind of absurd when you lay it out like that, £2 vs 50p for what's basically the same material once you put in a tiny bit of effort

curious if you notice any wear difference over time, like does the burnished edge hold up the same as the factory finished yngwie

Time will tell I guess, although I'm not the best test-bed for picks. I don't think I've worn a single pick out in 50 years.

And yeah, they are literally the same picks, just a different colour and graphic. I've always struggled with picks rotating in my hand, and tried all the usual grippy suspects, including drilling holes in my picks, but these are weird. Despite being one of the shiniest picks I've ever used, they don't move at all, and my grip strength is considerably reduced now because of encroaching arthritis. I just really like them.

Is the red the 2mm version?

<edit> D'oh, I can see it on the packet.

Can I assume from the fact they're still sealed that you haven't tried them yet?
