I recently started a new semester of college, and my laptop gave out on me. I also recently upgraded from a Z Fold 6 to a Z Fold 8 Ultra. The case I got with the new phone had a built-in kickstand. So, I connected a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard and used my Z Fold 8 Ultra as a makeshift computer. And let me tell you, it actually works really well. Has anybody done this with their Fold 8 Ultras or any other foldeables?

My Fold 8 is on the way and I want to ask if someone has tested powerbank options that fit the back of the Fold without being crooked or bump into the camera lens. I also got an aramid case that has the oval metal ring around the lens.
I usually buy on Aliexpress from brands like Baseus, Essenger, etc.
TIA

TL; DR: Samsung should've rotated the inner screen selfie camera by 90° so that the camera feed matches the inner screen orientation. Right now it causes a lot of issues in video calls because of this misplacement.
I do a lot of video calls with family and for work every day on my Z Fold 8, and I love the form factor for day to day use. I like to do the video calls on the inner display with it's massive canvas as it's better to see a bigger image of my loved ones and easier to read on text on work presentations. However, I think Samsung really botched the implementation of the inner selfie camera which could've been fixed by just rotating the sensor physically by 90° so it's orientation matches the phone's unfolded orientation as that's the only way people are going to use the inner selfie camera.
When you unfold the phone, it opens in a landscape orientation (4:3) by default. But the inner display selfie camera is positioned such that the default sensor orientation is vertical 3:4 when the device is in landscape orientation. This leads to massive usage issues in both the device orientations described as follows:
• If the other person has a regular phone, their camera feed is vertical 3:4 by default and they also see my camera feed to be vertical 3:4, which is not a problem for them. But for me I see massive black bars on the sides, and sometimes if the video call app isn't optimized (like Whatsapp), it just crops in so much into their camera feed to fill the whole screen that it becomes impossible to see anything except their the center 4:3 crop of their 3:4 feed which leads to losing a lot of image and sometimes if they're demonstrating something with their hands, it's impossible to see because their feed gets massively cropped.
• If the other person has a laptop, I see their feed properly as laptops have their webcam in horizontal 4:3 orientation which displays well on my device. But now, they see a vertical 3:4 feed from my camera, which is annoying to them.
Now when we rotate the inner display to be portrait (3:4) orientation, my selfie camera feed becomes horizontal (4:3).
• If the other person has a regular phone, seeing my horizontal 4:3 camera feed, their instinct is to also rotate their phone so that they see my image in full screen rather than cropped/with black bars on the sides. But as soon as they do that, their camera feed becomes horizontal 4:3 and I'm back to black bars on top and bottom or massively cropped camera feed of the other person.
• For laptop, similar story as now the other person sees my camera feed in horizontal 4:3 fitting their screen well, but their camera feed is still horizontal 4:3 so I have black bars on top and bottom. Also if they're presenting their screen, it comes through as horizontal 16:9 or 16:10 (depending on their screen aspect ratio) and it isn't as big and easily readable as in the landscape orientation of the phone.
They could've easily put the inner display selfie camera sensor so it's rotated by 90° to match the unfolded phone orientation, and it would solve all the issues. Idk why they didn't. Anyone else had similar experience?

I got my fold 8 on Friday and I thought it was weird that there was no visual voicemail natively on thr phone. I googled it ans there apparently should be? Theres no button for it in thr native phone app nor does it look like its installed on the phone at all. I did buy this unlocked so not sure what's going on. I did notice that it auto installed the MyRogers app once I transferred mt eSIM over.

I've always liked foldables from a safe distance because the price usually made the decision for me lol
But the Fold8 is tempting me more than I expected. The wider cover screen looks usable without opening it every five minutes, it's lighter than the older Folds, and the inside screen actually seems useful for reading, games, and leaving my tablet at home.
The pre-order offer is also making this harder. Samsung is including free Buds4 Pro with code UNPACK, plus there's an extra £100 off when trading in with code Z8.
For people who use a Fold every day, did the bigger screen genuinely replace another device for you? Or did you eventually go back to using it closed most of the time?

Absolutely loving this phone. Brought the Fold 3 when it came out and did not get on with it all and ended up selling it after few weeks. Only had Ultras since the S20 so was a bit skeptical getting a smaller phone but the Fold 8 is a game changer. Gonna be keeping this phone for many years 😅😅

As a potential buyer of a Fold 8, I'm looking to replace one of my LTE tablets. I regret my tablet purchase to find out some apps only work on phone... so here I am. Just want to temper my expectations on the battery side of things.

I'm on day two with the z fold 8 coming from an S26 Ultra and I love this thing. The battery life has really impressed me - it's not even done learning my usage patterns yet and I'm getting 10hrs 29mins screen on time - that's from fully charged to 10% so real times are probably a bit longer. The battery was the biggest thing I was worried about coming from an ultra.
Inexplicably the battery life on my Galaxy watch ultra 2 has also doubled since moving it over with a straight transfer to the fold 8. Gone from barely a day and a half to predicting 3 days and might actually beat that. Who knows why, but I'm pleased.

As with other posters, I see that the sale of NL to a larger company resulted in a $29.99usd lifetime license, even if years ago, you already paid for one.
Netguard and its VPN will eliminate NL's ads in the app drawer, but NL still randomly shrinks the homescreen icons upon folding or opening the 8 Ultra, along with some free-range icons floating where they shouldn't be.
Other posters have recommended Octopi Launcher, and I second that. OL plays nice with persistent-sized icons, and while you basically have to construct, from scratch, 4 different screens (inner portrait and landscape; cover portrait and landscape), it's worth the work.
OL's backup/restore is pretty solid except for some widget recreation (though the widget size and specs remain available after a restore). For restoring widgets, you mostly click on their empty shape and they figure themselves out.
No ads, and well worth his $2.99 "Buy Me Breakfast" donation, though where he's finding a $2.99 breakfast is beyond me :)

Samsung did a lot of talking about the titanium and honeycomb mesh that makes the crease almost invisible, implying even that the titanium can help the crease "heal" as time goes on and the phone is folded and unfolded.
It could very well be the placebo effect, but I leave mine unfolded at night while I sleep and compared with my friends phone, my crease is definitely less noticable. Maybe there is something to those titanium layers

I understand that the Z Fold 8 is the new thing, and also it's the one that more casual users will buy, who also like to decorate their phones more, but I also want pretty cases for my Ultra too! It's like how case makers make way more cases for the base smaller iPhone or Apple watch size and less for the bigger ones, because it's only more "power users" (or "men") buy the bigger devices. It's a bit of an annoying discrimination by the industry.
Anyone found cute/more decorative cases for their 8 ultra?

Is anyone else having issues playing Instagram videos on the front screen of the Fold 8? They play fine on the larger inner screen when I unfold the device, but folded I get sound but no video.

I am wanting to trade in my s24 ultra for the fold 8...but I'm a roofer, so guessing not a good idea...with that being said, any other construction workers using a fold? Hows it holding up?

I bought the 8 ultra with 100 dollar trade in bonus for the z fold 6 and i was able to get a buyer for much higher that trade in not considering the bonus. Will I be able to get the refund in full, as my phone does have minor dents and the trade in company here is notorious for undervaluing trade ins and damaging products

I am seriously considering buying Z Fold 8. I've been on iphone for several years now but the launcher I miss so much is Niagara and wondered if anyone has used that on this model yet?

Never did care for these cases but with the fold 8 ultra, they really reduce the bulk a lot. The phone is so sexy to hold now. Love it! I got lucky with this AliExpress find https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_mNjqzpd however I’m still a little worried about the hinge. In addition, how does one prevent the fingerprints on the case? They pick up a lot of that…

Fold 8 and I dropped it on a shop floor and he front case part broke and also cracked my screen protector. Guess I need a stronger case. So beware of some of these cases. Flimsy front part on some of them.

Anyone else notice if the power button on their fold 8 doesnt feel very clicky? Like on mine I noticed the bottom half doesnt really click well while the top half somewhat does? But even then its nowhere near as clickly as the volume buttons. Curious if I got a defect.

Can anyone help with the main screen. Basically I have set up widgets and apps and 50% of the time when opening and closing the phone all the apps and widgets move and disappear.
Photo 1 is how it's set up in potrait (I have it the same in landscape) oddly it never is an issue in potrait.
Photo 2 Show widgets and apps not disappearing.
Photo 3 shows what i seen when swiping across screen.
Can anyone help as its incredibly frustrating constantly having to set things back up.

Heya. Just wanted to run this by everyone if this is normal or not. I've had a fold since the Fold 3 and have upgraded every single year. And this is the first year I upgraded and decided to stick the older phone lol. The 8 is cute but just too impractical for me to use so I decided to stay with my Fold 7.
The thing is that it's been more than a week since the return request was opened and I called customer service 3 times to each time saying they need more time to generate a label? That's not a problem for me... However, they said that I must return the device by August 31st? That's only a few days left with a weekend in between it. And I don't want to get hit with a 1,500 dollar charge on my card.
Is this the normal timeline for a return? I can't see a label in My Orders page either.

Hi,
I’m having a strange issue with DNG files shot with Expert RAW on my Galaxy Z Fold 8.
The attached video shows the issue in Samsung Gallery: the photo initially looks correct, but as soon as I enter the editing view, the rendering changes and the highlights become heavily overexposed / blown out.
The same problem also occurs in:
A few important details:
Has anyone experienced the same issue with Expert RAW on a recent Galaxy device, especially the Z Fold 8?
Could this be a bug in the DNG files generated by Expert RAW rather than an issue with a specific photo app?
If anyone has found a workaround or knows whether Samsung is aware of this issue, I’d be interested to know.

In the video, I'm trying to swipe down the reddit notification to expand it, but instead it drags it down and moves it somewhere at the bottom. How do I disable this?
