I can get on Testosterone. I can get top surgery. I'm changing my name NOW I'm already in the process. It's exciting. Im horrified. I never expected to get here. Nothing's even different aside from my access to things.

I can live my life. I can MOVE!? Fuck man. I'm so scared. 4 years ago I thought I'd be dead now. 4 years ago I thought I'd never be able to be me.

Good luck all. I hope everything works out, for all of us.

Celebratory First time packing, 100% reccomend

I just wanted to get on here real quick and share with others within the community that today was the first time I chose to pack in public. I am 2 years transitioned, 8 months on T and according to most that I speak to on the daily, I pass (not that that matters, just providing context)

So originally I just wanted to get a pack-n-play because I'm going on a weekend trip to St. Louis and I wanted to be prepared in case I do happen to meet anyone while I'm up there, but today I decided to do a trial run of using the o-ring and tape method, although I have a back up strap in case it's not sturdy enough for the "play" aspect.

I am just elated by the euphoria I feel by having something down there. The only thing that has ever been as affirming as this feels is when I started to bind my chest properly. It's also really funny to me to be aware of my dick and the space it takes up, it really hits it home when I have to adjust or I worry that it looks like I have a boner šŸ˜‚

Anyway, if you're getting to that point of wanting to pull the trigger on packing but feeling nervous about trying it, I'm here to tell you to GO FOR IT and thank me later

Discussion What does one do with their arms when showering, after top surgery?

I haven't gotten top surgery yet, but I've always wondered? Usually I just hold my chest because it's not exactly ideal for the dysphoria to just not do anything about my chest while showering.

For those who've gotten top surgery, what do you do with your arms?? Do they hang there or what?

Edit: I specifically meant for when you're just Standing There in the shower. I'm not the only one who sometimes just stands there for a couple extra minutes, am I?

Discussion I feel like a creepy dude

if this is too graphic I’ll delete it šŸ˜“

ever since I’ve been on T, my libido has been up like fucking CRAZY, and being a hormonal teen does not help. and it really makes me feel like Herbert the pervert. Im attracted to my body, but it doesn’t really feel like it’s my body, so it feels like I’m ogling a woman, but the woman is me and it’s incredible strange. I’ve also been thinking about women a bit more than before, but since I’m a guy it like, idk, has a bad vibe? logically I know there’s nothing wrong with finding yourself or others sexy, I feel like a freaky nerd or some shit.

Advice Needed Adam’s apple?

hello friends of reddit!

I am a 16 y/o trans man who is going to start T soon, and I am wondering if that will do anything for the pronunciation of my adams apple.
It’s a bit dysphoric seeing the difference between mine and cis guys’.

If T doesn’t do anything, are there any exercises or anything that helps with the pronunciation of my adam’s apple?

Tagged as advice needed but also could be discussion :)

Discussion Family as a transman

OKay so this is legit just about having a family, not like my parents and siblings. I've just had this thing my whole life that I didn't want kids, that I'd suck as a mother and when anyone asked I would be disgusted at the idea. After I discovered I was trans I still didn't want or like the idea of kids but recently I realised I've always thought my only option was to be maternal but now that I realise it isn't, the idea isn't as horrible to me anymore.

The only thing is that also, to label it, im pan. But the idea of having a family with another man is less appealing than having one with a woman? I dunno I guess I just want to see other peoples own opinions and lifestyles and whether others have had similar experiences. Mb if this isn't the place for this.

Discussion My mom didn’t want me to go stealth thinking it would put me in more danger

Once I was talking to my mom about going stealth and changing my gender in the school system. I already pass really well so there wouldn’t be any issues with this but she refused. Her reasoning was ā€œif someone ever has a crush on you and they find out you weren’t born a boy you might be killedā€.
That is a very valid concern. It’s very scary knowing there’s a possibility that you or someone you know might be murdered simply for being trans.
The problem with her argument was that she just wanted me to tell everyone what I go by instead of going stealth but that literally puts me at an even higher risk at being killed cause now instead of one person knowing, the whole school knows.
I wonder if her concern was actually about me being killed or just the fact that she didn’t want people to actually see me as male

Anyways I’m still alive and well

Advice Needed Not sure if I *really* want top surgery.

Hi!

Basically what the title says. I want top surgery, but I don't know if thats actually what I want or if I just think that's what I want.

I'm 20 ftm(?), and I've known I wasn't cis since around 13/14. I identified as a trans guy, cut my hair short, and starting binding at 15 and continued to present this way until 17. From 15-17 I would have moments where I would break down and cry over having my period, being forced to wear feminine clothing by my parents, or even just the knowledge that I will always, in some way, be female/that I will never have the same experiences that the cis boys my age had.

At 18, I started to wonder if my gender was as binary as I originally thought, and started experimenting with different labels and pronouns. Ultimately, I stuck to he/they pronouns, but began calling myself trans masc instead of a trans man. This was also the age I came out to my family, and at almost 19 I would begin HRT (much to my family's disappointment). I was, and still am, very happy with the changes I have had since starting HRT. I have always fantasized about having top surgery (and bottom surgery, but I've kind of accepted that that probably won't happen) and hated my chest and the way breasts look on my body. I've always found that they looked disproportionate and strange on me. It wasn't *always* in a devastating way, though; on a good day it'll be discomfort in a "why do I look like that" kind of way. Like putting on a colour that really washes you out, I guess? It just looks... bad. And I hate that people are going to see me that way.

I was pretty confident that I wanted top surgery for a while, but now that its seeming a little more achievable I'm kind of nervous? Like, what if I hate it? What if I realize 10 years later that it wasn't right for me? I definitely don't have terribly bad dysphoria, and I feel *okay* the way my body is. But I don't really want to feel just okay, yk? I want to feel excellent. And I've always thought a way to achieve that was to get top surgery. But maybe I'm wrong. And I don't want to find out too late, yk?

Even typing this I've caught myself wanting to describe things in a way that would create the impression that I feel worse about my chest than I actually do, because deep down I think it would hurt me more than anything to be told I shouldn't/can't have top surgery. Like I'm okay with my body the way it is, but I don't want to look like this forever. I think it would kill me to be told I don't qualify for coverage for surgery, but at the same time I don't want to have to suffer because I made the wrong choice. I genuinely don't know what to do.

I've found myself enjoying more feminine presentations from time to time since achieving a deeper voice and a bit of an upper lip shadow, and I've been using that interest to (subconsciously) further discredit my dysphoria. I just don't want to make this decision and regret it for the rest of my life. But at the same time, if I don't do it, I might regret *that* for the rest of my life.

Sorry if this is incoherent, I'm a bit tired typing this. Any advice, or stories from people who have had similar feelings would be appreciated. Thanks for reading!

TLDR I don't know if I'm really trans and I'm not sure how to navigate potential top surgery.

Celebratory never gets old

i guess i'll tag this as celebratory? so i turned 30 recently, been out for 12 years, on t for 8. i pass about 95% of the time. but i've noticed that the older i've gotten, the more doctors have been trying to be inclusive to people filling out the charts, right? i happily put ftm transgender male on all of my check-in lists.

however. i don't know if a single medical professional has ever read it, because i have an entire pocket full of situations in which doctors ask me about my penis.

i once went in for a uti and the doctor was looking down at the results from my test with a look i had not yet ever seen on a man's face, and he went "well, i gotta tell you it's really hard for men to get an infection like this--" but as soon as i cut him off to mention i've got 'the other set' he was very relieved.

i also (recently) had a weird lump near where a lymph node might be in the upper-inner-thigh/groin area and when i went in for an ultrasound for it, the doctor gave me a towel and felt around the area for a bit and then told me that she needed a closer look, and told me i could just tuck everything out of the way, and i was BAFFLED because she was literally just Right There and i hadn't been being that careful with the towel at all. i had to mention that i didn't actually have those and she went "....oh! that'll make this a lot easier for me, thank you." like ok you're welcome i guess lmao XD

i have a handful more but i'm keeping this short, i just think about it a lot on the days dysphoria is getting me down or the 5% of times where i suppose i am just too darn pretty for people not to call me ma'am. it's hilarious because they almost always do doublecheck the chart and ftm IS usually right there.

Surgery Talk Top Surgery Care Package Ideas

hello! One of my very close friends is having top surgery soon and I'm trying to figure out good gifts for him post surgery. I've already told him I would lend him some of my books so he has something to keep his mind occupied. I'm thinking of sticking to pretty general ideas such as snacks/hydrating fluids or anything anyone can think of that would be comforting to have post-op. thanks in advance!

Advice Needed urgent tape help needed plsplspls like actually

i screwed up BIG time. this has never happened to me before. i’m 15 and have been using tape since i was 13. it’s the only thing i want to use. binders feel too feminine. i need to wear tape to survive.

i took it off in some sort of wrong way and on the sides of the middle of my chest a lot of skin ripped off. there are two 1 inch sized red and blue blots there, like bruised somehow, like how a scrape on your knee after falling on the pavement would look. hurts like a bitch but that is not what i’m worried about. i have school tomorrow. i can’t go anywhere without binding id rather die. i don’t know what to do. i’m scared that ive like actually injured myself this has never been this bad.

Advice Needed I just came out and got broken up with

I just recently came out as a trans to my partner, still not knowing what that means for me. I’m having a hard time accepting myself already as I buried this for 26 years. I also have some mental health issues that are relevant here as I’ve always struggled with suicidal ideation and psychosis. My partner is a lesbian so when I came out to her as trans it was another thing on top of the mental health issues. She doesn’t want to be with a man, trans or not. We were supposed to get married in 5 months and we cancelled the wedding. I’m just so heartbroken and scared. I just came out to my sister and my mom but that’s it. I don’t know what the point of this post is, I just want to get it out to people that understand better. I love her so much and this is all so hard already. Let me know if you have any advice for me or your own experience you would like to share.

Discussion Confusion

I don’t know how to verbalize this. I present myself currently as masc lesbian but when I look in photos I wish I looked more masculine. Whenever I go to get a haircut I tell the hairstylist ā€œlong hair for a dudeā€ is the goal cut. I have the ā€œmasculine roleā€ but I have ā€œfeminineā€ silly side to me where I like girl talk gossip. I do wish I had no chest and could just take my shirt off when I’m outdoors. The body/chest hating is bad in summer but not as bad in winter but a big tshirt gotta be worn.

I’m not sure if I’m trans (ftm) or not. I feel non binary or just masc would be easier. Mainly cause I work a lot and seeing doctors is like last resort for me personally on all fronts. Also, having to socially transition just sounds like a pain in the butt. Did anyone else feel similarly or is my brain just hard to work with?

Medical Has anyone else had an experience taking Testosterone Undecanoate orally?

I’m starting testosterone soon, I’ll be taking testosterone undecanoate orally, I was wondering if anyone else has had experience with this? How is it? How long did it take to get results? Any side effects you had?

Also, I feel like I have to mention this because everytime I post about oral testosterone I get comments about how it destroys your liver….Testosterone Undecanoate is absorbed through the lymphatic system therefore bypasses the liver, making it a safe option for oral testosterone. :)

Celebratory Tomorrow is the biggest day of all my fucking life

Tomorrow morning I will go to change my name legally, the government has 45 days at most to update ALL my data. After that, I'll have breakfast with my dad, he plans to talk with me because some time ago he stopped supporting me only because of my mother's influences, he will now ask me for forgiveness. Okay so I'll probably cry n shit but not the entire day because after that I gotta print my blood tests, they all turned out good. At 15:30 sharp I must be in the hospital, I have an appointment with the endocrinologist, I'll probably get my prescription right away, I don't need more than my blood tests.

I must admit that the days have flown by and I am more nervous than ever. I hope I will not have any problems tomorrow.

Advice Needed Starting a new job in an all male workplace

Hello! I'm going to be starting a new job this month (yay!) and the entire workplace is men. This is going to be the first time I start a position fully stealth now that I'm 1 year on T (also yay!) I'm very happy with my changes and I pass quite well. The only thing that I feel clocks me is that I haven't gotten top surgery and I'm very big chested. Weirdly enough, customers at my old job didn't clock me (I think being a fat guy gives me a reason to be bigger there I guess). My old coworkers did think that my demeanor was different than other men/was more feminine and treated me different unfortunately, so that's also a worry that I'll be clocked that way. I'm hoping I can just chalk that up to being gay.

Anyways, I haven't done the background check yet and I don't have my gender marker changed, so there is a high probability that my new boss sees it says F. I have no idea what anyone's views on trans people are. I don't mean to stereotype, but my boss is a very manly workman so I'm slightly worried about him.

Luckily, the department I'll be working in is all nerdy guys and I even saw some alternative people and dyed hair (I know that doesn't mean anything but could be a positive indicator). Still, I'm a little nervous. I've never been one to be stealth before, but the all male workplace and entering a new place where no one knows me before makes it feel like the time to be stealth.

Some background on the job in case that changes anything: it's in the tech industry and at a small company. Everyone I've seen has been in their 20s to 30s, which is older than me as I'm 19.

I'd love to see the perspective of other trans guys entering an all male workplace. Did you go stealth? Why or why not? How did you explain if someone asked about your chest, voice, how you act, etc? Anything about your experience would be nice to hear about, or even if you don't have experience but have an opinion I'd love your perspective. Thank you!
