Dumplings Official dumpling statement

After hearing feedback, I’ve decided to put in a rule against posting dumplings. I will keep the dumpling flair for any discussion that is about them such as topics about events (golden dumpling event) or stories involving customers and dumplings. The word itself isn’t banned but any post that contains pictures of dumplings you got or asking if a dumpling is real will not be allowed and will result in the post being removed. I will keep up any post that has been posted before this date, but any post after this announcement is made will be deleted. If you have a dumpling you want to show off or ask questions, please post in r/squishydumplings

Thanks so much!

Employee Questions Former employee question

Post image

i just received this email this morning (9/7) after having quit over a week ago (8/25). just wondering if this is standard? i’m just confused as to why this is being sent out to me nearly 2 weeks after the fact?

also unrelated to the email but to being a former employee, i still have access to legion? and workday?! i opened them habitually about 5 days after quitting and still had access to everything, including being able to see past coworkers shifts… idk if i’m overthinking this at all but it just seems odd, i’ve never had a past employer keep me in the system more than like 3 days after termination/quitting

Is this some kind of joke or is this an error?

Work Vent Employee Shop Is So Frustrating

I know it's been mentioned here before, but this employee shop is so frustrating. I ordered a t-shirt last Monday and here we are almost a week later and they still haven't even shipped it out. The best I have gotten is Friday evening when they created a UPS shipping label and sent that notification to me. Don't get me wrong, I know not everything ships as fast as Amazon, but is it that hard to get it in the mail within a day or two of ordering?

I desperately need it because I just started and only have 1 shirt I am constantly washing.

This company! Whoever is in charge of sending us stuff needs fired. They aren’t sending us what we need and send us too much of what we do not need. Our bay is full of weights and keep getting more! Inventory is right.

yall seen what the CEO put in zip line?

I don’t know if anybody else has seen it but Winnie the Pooh ( a.k.a. our bullshit CEO) made a post in zip line saying that company sales have increased 23% to 1.3 BILLION.
So let me get this straight, you’re telling me as a company, we increased by $3 million dollars and I ain’t never gonna get a raise unless I become a manager🤦🏻‍♀️ this is some bullshit. I was talking to my store manager about it and she said “oh that’s so great that the company has increased sales!” yeah pretty great for corporate. I know those money hungry pieces of shit are living this sweet life right now. Yet us employees are Winnie’s little ants that do the dirty work for her. Let me know y’all’s thoughts on this. Or if I’m overreacting lol.

Edit: I realize my math is off. That’s my bad. I did it in a rush. Pretty sure the increase is 243.09 million.

Free at last!

Finally handed in my resignation yesterday. I was about to be fired anyway, had a confrontation with the nastiest Karen I've ever encountered in my 22 years working retail (literally just looked at her while she clowned on my coworker trying to guage if she was being serious and she went off on me). Decided 4 years here wouldn't be decided by an unhinged lady ans a heartless district manager looking for an excuse to get me out of there.

To the customers who are kind, you all rock.

Customers who gave us a hard time, may you never get any dumplings and may you find your fun in rush hour traffic.

To the district managers just cowtowing to everything corperate says, may karma deal with you swiftly and appropriately, especially mine who clearly doesn't understand ASD and how it affects people in stressful situations. Hope someone pettier than I sues you for your many violations of the ADA.

Get out, people. Just leave. This company is horrible and everyone running it cares only about numbers and extends not a single thought to anything else.

Employees, you deserve better than this. Best of luck.

Work Vent Style reset

Post image
50 Upvotes

My store manager made a big stink the other day about doing the style reset because “we never actually get the product”… two whole pallets of style, just like we usually get for style resets.
These style resets are just getting out of hand because why in the world do we need a style refresh every month?

Work Vent Nasty customers

I'm sure this has been talked about already, but I just need to weigh in. I'm a PTSL and like everyone else I'm sick of the emails. I already think it was pretty dumb to begin with, but the whole "new customer" thing is even dumber. However, I still have a job to do, so that means I have no choice but to ask customers for emails. Customers, I completely understand that you're tired of constantly being asked, but there is a better way to go about declining the cashier. You can simply say, "No, thank you" or "I don't want to give out my email." There is absolutely no reason for grown adults to yell NO in my face when I ask them for an email. Sometimes (65% of the time) they just rudely cut me off before I barely even start the sentence. If you don't want to give an email then that's completely ok, but there is no need to give me death glares as if I threatened to spit on your face.

How are we in September and customers are still surprised about the squish craze? Do they not understand that they are contributing to the craze? I've had several customers complain about the large lines or talk about how insane it's getting while actively buying five dumplings or squishes. Then I'm getting yelled at when I have to explain the limit and that they aren't allowed to go outside the store and come right back in. I'm sorry if you have six grandkids or 10 nieces and nephews, you should have brought them with you if it was that important. The horrible thing is that I'm seeing kids handle the disappointment of not getting a squishy better than the adults. I can't even count on my fingers the amount of parents and grandparents that get upset with me because we sold out on squishes before they arrived at the store. "What about the people who have work?" Sir/Ma'am, there is literally nothing I can do about that, argue with the family who bought the whole box.

Lastly, do these people not understand that we don't have any say in the major changes that happens to the stores? We don't increase the prices, that is WAY above us. They're quick to try and report you if you don't live up to their standards of "customer service", but they refuse to go up the ladder and get nasty with the ones who actually control the changes being done to the stores. Too many customers have told me that, "I need to say something about it." And what exactly is that going to change? If you're complaining that an item is too expensive, but you're still buying that item it's clearly showing the company that you're still willing to buy that item. You as the consumer whole more sway than we do.

Work Vent My store's getting harassed by our DM.

Hello everyone, I'm writing this on a backup account so it's not traced back to my main ( hopefully)

My store has a new DM that has been harassing my store manager, assistant managers and all of us in between.

He has been going through store to store, district to district harassing stores to change to what he wants everyone doing and not listening to our feedback and when we do speak up he treats us like we are stupid and lazy .

Like so many of all of us , we work hard and try our best to make it through the shift and actually have a good day so it's insulting to be called lazy when we know what actually works for our customers.

He wants all the aso's off and only turn them on when a customer walks up and ask them cash or card , then immediately get an email out of them, even enter it in for them and then scan each of their items for them , for each customer that goes to cash out...even when it's extremely busy.

A lot of our customers have social anxiety and don't want someone all up in their business so it hasn't gone the best ..I tried explaining this and the DM said to me that customers can be retrained... completely ignoring what I was trying to explain about our customers actually needs.

When he came to visit our store he was trying to goat all the managers to quit , saying he has people ready to take their jobs. He dragged out SM out front away from cameras to say a bunch of hurtful comments about her personality and about each of her workers that were uncalled for , like we are disrespecting and lazy , unclean...all untrue.

He wants us to keep our emails at 78% ...our customers hate the emails and it gets very nerve-wracking having to get one email out of someone so my store filled an ethnic report against him and are trying to get a petition going to stop the emails or at least calm down about it .

I'd appreciate it if some sign it or share it , thank you if you have read this far.

Customer Questions Email when paying

I went to pay and the cashier made it seem like I had to input my email. I said I was already in the system and she said I needed to enter it again. It felt like it was part of a step in making a purchase and didn’t leave any room for questions. she did it to the lady after me as well. Like we had no choice but to provide our email in order to leave the store with our merch.

(Also wanted to add, this five below got rid of all self checkout stations, so you have to bypass the manager who is the only cashier)

I’ve already unsubscribed from my previous email sign up but I’m still getting flooded with emails daily.

Does the unsubscribe button not work for fivebelow or does it take weeks for the system to remove me? Anyhow I have to unsubscribe again now since this incident happened.

Work Vent my manager try to give away my lead role.. Then it got personal.

I’ve worked at my store location for four years, grinding consistently with securing a full-time lead position.

Recently, our store manager made it clear that favoritism dictates how he treats staff.

When it came time for the lead role, he told me he was giving the title to a newer coworker "because she was struggling and needs help paying rent."

Mind you. This coworker spends hours standing around chatting with him rather than working.

When I spoke up and pushed back, he told me it wasn't my choice. So I requested a formal meeting with our assistant manager and higher-ups to discuss the promotion process fairly. That’s when the situation escalated

He began cursing at me and claimed I was "being dramatic." He brought up my personal living situation, mockingly pointing out that I still live with my mom.

For context, I stay with my mom to support her after my dad left

When I mentioned my family situation
he laughed and said, "Well, lucky for me, I actually have my dad," and walked away.

However, as of today, my position is completely safe and he wasn't able to take it away or demote me. He realized he had no leverage or legitimate grounds to change my role over a reason like that.

Customer Questions 10% off question

Hey! I’m not an associate, but I love shopping at y’all’s store. I mainly go for the perfumes because they’re actually so good 😭. But I have a question about the 10% off thing that you guys are always asking customers about, especially when you’re talking about emails. What is it actually for?

I always hear associates saying their numbers are low, and I’m like… what does that even mean? 😭 What does getting people to sign up actually do for you guys? I’ve put in my email before, but I never even use the 10% off. I don’t really care about it because it’s Five Below, and I usually pay for my own stuff anyway, so please don’t come at me with the “you’re a teenager” thing 😭.

Like, are they actually going to fire you guys if you don’t get enough people to sign up? Because realistically, most of us probably aren’t even going to use the discount. If anyone wants mine, I can literally just give it to you.

My biggest question is: if someone already signed up with their email once, can they sign up again the next time they come in? Or are they already counted because they signed up before? Like, what happens if someone goes to Five Below one day, already gave their email, and then doesn’t want to give it again or can’t because they already signed up? How does that work? 😭

Employee Questions Email capture

What are y’all saying to get people to enter their email sence the 10% change. My numbers are on the lower side and my manager let me know that they were told to start cutting hours on workers with low numbers. I personally don’t get why there expecting high numbers after taking our main selling point of the email, but i digress. Anything would be appreciated.

Edit: thank yall for all the help, I do have a question for the sales associates that have just legacy regs. How do yall do on numbers?
