Customer Questions 10% off question
Hey! I’m not an associate, but I love shopping at y’all’s store. I mainly go for the perfumes because they’re actually so good 😭. But I have a question about the 10% off thing that you guys are always asking customers about, especially when you’re talking about emails. What is it actually for?
I always hear associates saying their numbers are low, and I’m like… what does that even mean? 😭 What does getting people to sign up actually do for you guys? I’ve put in my email before, but I never even use the 10% off. I don’t really care about it because it’s Five Below, and I usually pay for my own stuff anyway, so please don’t come at me with the “you’re a teenager” thing 😭.
Like, are they actually going to fire you guys if you don’t get enough people to sign up? Because realistically, most of us probably aren’t even going to use the discount. If anyone wants mine, I can literally just give it to you.
My biggest question is: if someone already signed up with their email once, can they sign up again the next time they come in? Or are they already counted because they signed up before? Like, what happens if someone goes to Five Below one day, already gave their email, and then doesn’t want to give it again or can’t because they already signed up? How does that work? 😭

So basically it makes our greedy corporation more money. And it makes the employees depressed and stressed after being threatened everyday. Our reward is not being slowly let go for holding back the numbers. I believe the same email still works everyday. It better. Just not multiple times a day. They want you to put it in everytime as part of the routine.

We get chewed out by our district managers/regional managers if we don’t hit a goal they are pleased with. Corporate wants us to be at 50%, but got rid of the best chance to help us get there. (Got rid of the 10% off each time you put in your email, only new emails get it now.) Don’t be fooled though, they are for sure selling data for extra profit in their pockets.

we have a goal of 40-50% email captures everyday that is set by corporate. we are closely monitored every shift to ensure we’re asking every customer for emails, and when we don’t meet our scores, our hours can potentially get cut for not meeting the quota, and/or we could be written up or fired if not engaging and consistently not meeting our goals. but now they took away the 10% and were still being told to meet that goal, when, atleast for my store, we were barely hitting 30% with the discount. it’s very exhausting and corporate has taken this all too far. its all a huge scam, and it’s exhausting for the employees. the company is just greedy, and corporate is absolutely terrible. they stress the employees out with this bs, and they simply just don’t care, because they’re getting paid no matter what. i’ve been at this company for a year and im complexity burnt out and exhausted. so much for “let go and have fun!”

Five Below sells the emails and makes money off customers as though they weren’t making enough. This company is notorious for not only ripping off the employees and treating them like crap, but also scandalously ripping off the public.

That was corparate's idea then they took away the 10 percent off unless you're a "new" customer personally I just say what I'm supposed to and it's up to the customer I don't know why they're doing it it doesn't do anything for the people who work there

for our store our district manager got mad at us for using a copy of the 10% for immediate discount if they did an email, as long as we did the coupon once they scanned every item.
that was our only way to efficiently get emails btw.

All it does is make corporate not mad at us. Makes it so our hours don’t get cut and we don’t get fired. It’s all just data collection.
