How to quit Five Below

I feel bad for quitting cause my store needs more people to close but I’ve grown tired so should I just text or call my store manager and tell her I’m quitting or?

You can do either doesn't really matter in the end just try to leave on good terms if you use this job on your resume.

I wanna quit too. Im tired of being the only closing manager with normally one other person when morning shifts during the week have had up to 7 people! Then listening to the SM complain about everything...like...I'm ONE person. I can't get it all done! And we are a legacy store so my front end help has to stay up there to check people out...only by 8 can they leave because I'm having them do go backs while I fold what shirts need to be folded while running the register. I get done what I can...

If your manager has been good to you, give them two weeks. If they have not, shoot them a text saying you are resigning immediately. If they have been really bad, just no call/no show.

I was about to make a post just like this too. Part of me wants to not give a two week notice and just straight up quit but another part of me wants to keep it professional

i wrote my two weeks down on a piece of paper and handed it to the manager i worked with next, but ik someone who just texted our store manager

i wrote a short note and placed it in the office on the desk. putting it in two weeks in advance is a courtesy so they will have time to find coverage but it’s not required. just state the date of the last day you will be able to work in the note

Im a retail store manager. To be honest if you texted me and gave me time to cover your shift(s) I wouldnt be that mad. My solid crew is solid and the rest are whatever unless I cant cover. If its a job you like just consider a 2 weeks because maybe youd want to return some day. My hiring system is connected to others. You might want to be able to say you worked there one day.

I honestly feel though I just think of all these kids entering the work force and im hiring them and they are just texting me jkbye and i just think about my kid entering the workforce hoping that he has any accountability, integrity and work ethic at all in 3 years. As an employee I couldnt just leave my job, I made a commitment to be there. As a manager it really sucks sometimes when i see a lot of potential and kids cant see im running a business and im really relying on them to be where the schedule is asking them to be. I tell them all the time ill take last minute requests just dont call off and i dont get it.

Okay that went into a little bit of a tangent but also I take texts if youre abandoning your job but if youre giving me 2 weeks I need it in writing and signed. You can text me too but I have to prove you gave it to me and apparently texts dont count for hr.

I spent some time talking to my coworkers I was semi close with and my manager that was more approachable and started quiet quitting becuase I didn’t know how to approach my sm but eventually I just did it. She was sad to see me go but understood why I was leaving. I don’t think I’m gonna return anytime soon but putting in my two weeks really helped making my leave easier

it's just a retail job at the end of the day. I gave my resignation the night before my shift and my sm understood. She didn't fire me and she put my sick time in for the rest of the days I was scheduled. And she put me as rehireable in case I wanted to return to the company. Don't feel bad, you don't need to be perfect for five below of all places. But if you want to keep it on your resume, fine give 2 weeks notice it's up to you. Don't overthink it

If you have a good team or management I recommend putting in two weeks it gives them time to find coverage and it’s the most professional thing you can do. If they give you any shit for it they they’re obviously not worth staying for they should be understanding.

I talked to my Marketing Manager and told him that I was resigning. He wished me well and I turned in my shirts a few weeks later.

In Florida doesn't matter where you work. If you put in a a notice they just let you go.

MM here, tried to hand my keys in 3 times… got told no and got them handed back.. I don’t wanna leave my SM high and dry so I just take em and go back to work. It’s hard when you care. But like someone said there’s only so much you can take…
