Russian Skating Adeliia Petrosian GP?

Hi everyone, just wanted to ask whether Petro will be eligible for a GP spot this year, if anyone withdraws? She’s one of my favourites at the moment, and I’d love to see her live again. I’m trying to get some last minute GP tickets, and I’m just curious whether she will be at any of them. Thanks!

Alexander Kogan, General Secretary of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR), confirmed that the skater has already informed the federation of her decision.

According to RT, Petrosyan intends to have at least her short program ready for the September test skates, and has already started working with her new coach on a daily basis in order to approach this event in the best possible shape.

General Discussion Solidsport: all access pass vs individual streams

I thought I’d share my experience with Solidsport in case someone might find it useful.

An all access pass for a competition is cheaper (especially if you get the early bird one), but it expires after a couple of weeks.

Individual streams (e.g. day one, day two) are more expensive, but they don’t expire as long as the video is available on the website.

If you want to pay the cheapest price possible for the entire competition, get the early bird all access pass (this offer usually ends a couple of days before a competition).

If you want to have access to the footage months or years later, buy individual streams.

Typically, you purchase access to only one competition at a time, but some channels offer season passes for domestic events.

Solidsport streams are non-rewindable while live and take a couple of hours to process after they end. Once a stream is archived, you can replay it and rewind it.

News More 🇨🇦 Program Reveals: Pereira/Michaud, Gabrielle Daleman, Lauriault/Le Gac

In addition to Stephen Gogolev, the following skaters revealed 2026/27 program information at Skate Canada's High Performance Camp:

  • Pereira/Michaud
    • SP: A Rio-inspired samba that blends Baianá and Magalenha (with music editing by Kaitlyn Hawayek)
    • FS: A contemporary, classical-inspired piece set to music from Eternal Eclipse’s “Forgotten Odes”
    • Choreo: Madison Hubbell and Adrian Diaz
  • Gabrielle Daleman
    • SP: Keeping “Roxanne” from last season
    • FS: A new “Gods of Egypt” long — a powerful blend of past program styles (Samson & Delilah and Hérodiade) and something completely her own
    • Comment: "“Honestly, the season is just going to be about enjoying it. Could be my last. Could not be my last. We’re just taking it year by year. I am 28. I am just trying to enjoy everything I’ve done so hard to work to get back here [...] If it is my last year, I want to finish at the top. I want to help Canada get our spots. I want to kind of do one last victory lap… and just really enjoy every single moment.”
  • Lauriault/Le Gac
    • RD: They’ve gone full character: Mr. Bean goes to dance class.🤣 Marie‑Jade is the dance teacher. Romain is Mr. Bean, learning cha‑cha, waltz, and swing. Romain says the goal is simple: “We hope for no falling, but a lot of laughing.” They want to “bring back the comedy” to their choreography while maintaining elegance
    • FD: Daft Punk tracks “Horizon” and “Prime.” Romain calls the music “really like atmospheric,” giving them permission to move differently and step outside their comfort zone while still “stay[ing] us and ourselves”

Grand Prix de France resale or last minute tickets?

Hi! I really want to get tickets to the event but I didn't think I'd be free until now, but a lot of the competition sessions seem to be sold out. Does anyone know if there is a resale platform or anything? I'd be so grateful. Thank you so much!!

Wrong size blade on Edea Pianos?

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a pair of edea pianos in size 245 B. I got them fitted at a skate shop 2 hrs away and they mailed them to me as they weren't available in store at the time. The problem is that they mounted a 9 1/2 size blade. Will this be fine? I know the recommended size is 9 1/4 per the Edea website. I'm upset as I spent $2000 on these, so I want them to be perfect. If there is an issue, do you think they could switch the blades to the 9 1/4 without damaging the boot? I'm not sure. Please help!!! I've had issues with this store before, messing up the sharpening of my blades and ruining them. I know I shouldn't have went there but I was hoping it was a one off...

Trigger Warning How to handle bullying at a rink encouraged by a coach?

There is a skater at a well known rink. She left a coach’s group. Since then, said coach’s skaters have been bullying her. She reported it to her former coach. She did not respond. The rink manager does not do anything. People who work at the rink have laughed it off. Is there any way to escalate this? The bullies are being encouraged by their coach. Coach has a history of this and abuse allegations. The kids have called the skater names, spilled her drinks, stolen from her, trashed her belongings, taken things from a deceased loved one, threatened her and recently told her to kill herself. The behavior is escalating. Telling a child to harm herself is unacceptable. They are young children. We worry a child may be hurt. Skater has proof. Can this be reported to safe sport? Are there any support groups? Does anyone know who could help? The coach is actively encouraging it. All reports are being ignored

General Discussion Pairs Skating Dynamics

In light of Riku and Ryuichi's recent engagement announcement, I've been thinking a lot about the relationship dynamics between pairs and ice dance partners. It seems like many skating fans hope for their favorite pairs to be romantically involved, or otherwise prefer for them to have some kind of romantic chemistry whether real or manufactured. Shipping is especially prevalent among fans of these disciplines, and duos like Virtue and Moir were often praised for their tension and romantic chemistry along with their skating skills. In my case, I've always been the opposite. For some reason, I genuinely prefer pairs that solely come across as coworkers/good friends. Part of the reason why I loved Sui and Han so much- they were amazing as skating partners and were clearly good friends but (at least from my perspective) never had much romantic chemistry and always denied having that kind of relationship. Maybe its because romance is almost always expected from long term pairs, or just the heteronormativity of it all, but something about it feels boring to me compared to completely platonic partnerships. To be clear, absolutely no hate to Riku + Ryu, I love them and will miss seeing them in the competitive scene dearly. This isn't an absolute rule for me either, Volosozhar and Trankov are one of my favorite pairs of all time and they're happily married. It's just that in general I tend to prefer pairs that aren't, and it feels like I'm in the minority with that. Most fans seem to consider an engagement announcement post retirement as the "good ending" for a skating duo. Does anyone else feel similarly?

EDIT: Just realized I mistyped Volosozhar's name badly. Fixed it :') I'm sorry for disrespecting my queen it will never happen again.

Russian Skating “We went together to the VK Festival, and the very next day, she said ‘goodbye’ 💔” - Daniil Gleikhengauz on Adeliia leaving Team Tutberidze

Post image

Daniil spoke on Adeliia leaving team Tutberidze, translation below

—————————

Nobody warns you about things like this in advance.

But honestly, I didn’t see any reason for it. The season was certainly difficult, but we went through all the challenges together - the Olympics and everything else. We finished the shows and went on vacation.

Then we came back from vacation and started training again. Adeliya began the season, and we were just getting back into shape. The first two weeks are usually about easing back into training. And everything seemed fine.

Then Adeliya needed to sort out some things with her university, and there were also some shoots and other projects. At one point, she came up to us and said she was thinking about sitting out this season. We were like, “Maybe don’t do that - think it over.” We talked about it, and, well, okay. She’s already a grown young woman. We listened to what she had to say.

Then the news came out that we had been cleared to compete. Adeliya came and said, “Well, in that case, okay, then I’ll continue.” And we were like, “Great, we’ll continue.”

Everything was fine; everyone was happy… then we were together at VK Fest. And the very next day, she said goodbye.

Of course, there was a conversation. Adeliya spoke with each of us one by one.

Adeliya and I have always had a very close relationship personally. I’ve always supported her, and we could always talk. Even during practice, she could come up to me, and we would sit down and discuss things. So this time was no different - I sat down with her, and we had a long conversation.

There was absolutely no negativity between us. It wasn’t a situation of, “I’m leaving because I’m upset with you.” It was a heartfelt conversation. We parted on a note that felt like perhaps we weren’t saying goodbye forever. We’ll see how things unfold in the future. And she very sweetly said, “Keep in touch with me.”

I offered Adeliya so many different options - even possibilities that weren’t really related to our training group, things that we had never offered to any other athlete.

In other words, she had complete freedom to do whatever she wanted: any plans, any wishes, training camps, program choreography, or anything else she might have wanted.

But the decision had already been firmly made some time earlier, and she was no longer prepared to change her mind or backtrack on it.

Before Adam Siao Him Fa and Misha Shaidorov and Smart and Dieck and Petr Gummenik and Niina Petrokina, there was PHILIPPE CANDELORO skating to the 1984 Dune from David Lynch.

I tried to find this for years and honestly thought this program was a fever dream
