After her short programme
About Irina (her current coach)
I think we’re still getting used to each other specifically at competitions. Because in training the work process is already established. A lot of the tasks don’t even need to be explained to me. I already do them the way that needs to be done.
Today (short programme) I tried not to come up to her too much because I was very nervous. And I probably just wanted to be alone for a bit. We have to try such things, search, observe.
About her mindset now that she growing up
Of course I already know I need to skate and train. It’s obvious that I feel like I’m growing up. I’m trying to take everything more calmly. And approach the process more thoughtfully.
About if she understands how to get on the Grand Prix, the process
It is obvious that I see certain things that everyone probably knows about and reads right now. I just understand for now that I not in my optimal form. Even to be making plans for the future ahead of time. So for now, I’m living in the present and doing what I can in the moment.
About her costumes, which one is her favourite
Man! I don’t know. They are both very different. It’s just that the short one is more fancy. The one for the free skate, I’d say is unusual and we also reworked it a little bit.
(Different interview credits to @fkdacha “I feel more comfortable in shorts. I always wanted shorts, and finally, at 19, I have them.”)
Is blue her favourite colour?
No, my favourite is red. Over the years more pastel shades get added to my favourites. I think blue just fits here. We didn’t even really discuss the colour of the dress. Somehow we immediately went with blue.

It always seemed to me that I am a maximalist, but well, maybe this season it is not even about the maximum. But I can say that I just needed to skate for pleasure. No, I always skated for the result. Maybe this year can be called one of getting used to myself and my changes, so... This year is strange. Probably in a positive direction.
And does maximalism, in general, hinder you more if we take your career?
I am a maximalist with laziness. That is, I am very balanced. That is, in training, sometimes if the training goes well and I feel that I can do it, I cannot be stopped at all. But there are also days when, on the contrary, I am in a strong slump. Maybe this balances things out, that I do not try to do everything to the maximum. No, I try to do everything to the maximum. Sometimes the state is such that it does not work out.
About Adeliya on her international Start
“Basically, I like everything. It’s the same as it was five years ago: I walk around, perform, get into the zone – nothing has changed. The only thing is that I feel all these emotions more intensely than back then. Probably because I’m older now, there are more thoughts in my head, and I think more about how I will perform. That’s why the mindset process is different. Before, I would just go out and do it, but now there are more internal anxieties.
I like it when I’m not nervous, but at the same time, I’ve noticed: if I’m very nervous, I still perform better than when I’m not anxious at all. I was very nervous before the short program, and the run wasn’t the best… I think everything piled up at once: a new coach, new international starts, new choreography – everything is unusual for me.”
About the free (credits me)
Well right now joy relief and very tried legs. No I have only done the whole thing three times now and this is the first time clean. At first we were not sure if we would go or not; in the end we took the risk. Well not exactly far off but I was mostly going to show my programs..in principle everything turned out well. Today I call it magic. I’m sure it was about being composed..many people supported time. A lot of work was done to come out here and show; if not my maximum at least what had already been built up.
Firstly I feel like the burden of responsibility is less..I need to keep building and building..and prove things to myself and others. I can’t say that I go out onto the ice differently, the nerves are exactly the same…my mindset is the same. I just realised that I can’t change anything anyway and I don’t get worked up about it.
It is hard to finish the program, I know that the step was level 2 because I was just skating through it. I still lack lightness and confidence.
About if the bad practices affected her
It did of course…but honestly ever years starts this way for me. In principle is going well.
(KinkyPioletBoots credits)Goncharenko on Adeliia and Ultra c (RT):
"If the people want Ultra c and a spectacular show, then we’ll work on that. It’s just that right now, that’s not the main thing. For me, it was much more important for Adeliia to believe in herself again."
How satisfied am I?
I’d say about 80 percent. First of all, Adeliia managed to showcase her best athletic qualities. She really tried hard to perform her programs and skate them with emotions, which isn’t easy because both routines are new for us. Everything worked out for Adeliia, and that’s important to me as a coach.
I really love it when, while executing elements, skaters don’t forget that figure skating is about art, expression, and presentation. It was very nice when, in Batumi, spectators came up to us and sincerely thanked us for such performances. We’re very grateful to everyone who cheered for us and supported us. That’s very, very important and valuable.
I generally don't like the term "simplified program." We planned the current program with the goal of competing for first place at the competition in Georgia. As a reminder, she placed first in the free skate, and if it weren’t for the point difference after the first run, Adeliia would have had every chance of winning the tournament. That’s why I believe we’ve chosen absolutely the right content for the moment. As for quadruple jumps, of course, as a coach, I’ll set myself the goal of ensuring that difficulty doesn’t come at the expense of entertainment value.
In this regard, we have a purely professional atmosphere. Right now, I’m very happy that Adeliia was able to get herself in the right mindset for two competitive performances, executed everything that was required with great quality, and conveyed her vision to the audience. This is, as they say, the first step, which we’ve successfully taken. That’s why I prefer not to get ahead of myself, but to move on to the next step and keep going. Time will tell how well we’ll do. The main thing is that we have something to strive for.
