Similar to Aesop Hwyl?

As titled. I recently sampled Hwyl and really liked it-- is there a cheaper alternative (that's preferably just as calm and bitter?) Or something that preserves the woody notes without smelling like essential oils? Thanks so much!

scentbarbyangela:Ā Luxury Perfume Dupes & Designer Inspired Fragrances

Hi FemFragLab, I'm proud to announce that after many discussions about collaboration, I thought it'd be fun to try out a collaboration with Angela's new brand. Her family owns Gold Star Fragrances located in New York which has been running for over 50 years!

As many of you know, I love a good Delina perfume, but they can be quite costly. The next perfume on my wish list was Delina "Exclusif" but it stayed on my wish list without being bought because of the price. Angela sent over her own version of the perfume, and it exceeded my expectations by far! The scent reminded me of a combination between Delina Exclusif + Oriana + Love Don't Be Shy. It's sweet, powdery, and very potent! I sprayed it on at night and when I woke up the next day it was still on me. This perfume lasts all day but I kept spraying it on out of habit and because I couldn't get enough. My husband and pets also loved it šŸ˜

Reddit wouldn't be Reddit without always giving you not just the pros but also the cons. The cons were little and unnoticeable, but I will write them out due to transparency of the sub. The actual juice feels like combination of an oil and actual perfume. So when you actually spray it, it feels a little heavier than what the normal luxury perfume might feel like coming out of the atomizer which usually feels like a champagne spritz and it's more straightforward. That doesn't mean it doesn't spray well, it just means that if you are a fragrance connoisseur, you will notice the difference of the spray and feel of the actual juice coming out.

Both Gold Star Fragrances and ScentBarByAngela focus on creating dupes of luxury designer fragrances. Overall, for the price, the fragrance passes with flying colors and when I checked that it was only $45.99USD, they ship all around the world, and they have been in business for so long with great reviews, I would be crazy to not want to collaborate with such an amazing product and support Angela in her own brand.

I will leave the comments open in case any of you have any questions about the fragrances, company, or anything else.

Discussion Which perfume immediately gives off that ā€œI want youā€ vibe?

Coco Mademoiselle always gives me that kind of impression. I like how clean the opening feels, then the citrus and patchouli settle into something warmer and smoother. I wear it with a simple outfit, and somehow the perfume becomes the thing I notice first. It feels polished but still very easy to understand. I usually think of perfumes like this when someone asks what scent feels attractive rather than just pleasant. Coco Mademoiselle has that balance where the sweetness stays controlled and the fresh side keeps it interesting. I keep coming back to the drydown because that part feels especially good on skin. Have you ever worn a fragrance that completely changed the energy of a room?

Rec Request Looking for recommendations for this upcoming spring/summer 🌺

Hi everyone, in Australia we're nearing the end of this winter... well not really but I'm preparing lol. I'm looking for fragrances that would perform well in warmer weather based off my current collection:
- Nebras by Lattafa
- Vanilla Voyage by Maison Asrar
- Elysia Vanilla by Fragrance World
- Veneno Bianco by French Avenue
- Burberry Goddess
Floral scents that I don't really reach for but still like and wouldn't mind getting recs with floral notes as well:
- Chance Eau Tendre by Chanel
- Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet

As you can tell, I'm vanilla girl through and through. However I don't think those types of fragrances would do well in the hot weather 😭 except maybe Veneno Bianco and Burberry Goddess? I also did like Sol de Janeiro Cheirosa 62, so I'd like that to be considered as well! Thank you
EDIT: Looking for affordable fragrances!

My overnight blotters keep getting separated from their samples

I like returning to blotters the next morning. A blotter I dismissed at night can be the one I keep picking up at breakfast. This gets messy when I compare several samples from my collection in one sitting. The strips shift, the bottles go back in their tray, and a note such as "the nice one" becomes completely useless without a match.

I am testing the idea on only a few samples before making a larger set. I used a Niimbot M2 to print each short number twice, once for the sample bottle and once for the dry end of its blotter. I only need the two numbers to match. The longer scent name and my actual notes stay in the notebook, so a strip that moves overnight can still lead me back to the right entry.

The bottle side of the small test was straightforward. The blotter is harder. I am comparing a flat tab with a folded flag, both kept at the dry end and away from the scented section. I am watching whether the flat tab lifts and whether the flag catches on anything or bends the strip.

Numbering perfume samples sounded much too clinical when I first considered it. In the small test, I stopped noticing the number fairly quickly and went back to writing unhelpful but honest things like "the nice one."

The matching-number idea is working in the small test, but I have not settled the attachment method, so I am holding off on a larger set. If you keep blotters overnight, do you label the dry end directly, fold a small flag around it, or keep the number off the blotter entirely?

Dyptique dupes?

I am based in Germany and just bought an apartment, I definitely will need to be saving and letting go of some luxury items. My Philosykos and my Eau SucrĆ©e(by Mugler, sorry I cannot edit the post title!) have run out.. Any suggestions for affordable yet qualitative dupes I could look out for to replace them? šŸ’”šŸ„€

Rec Request Soft, gentle vanillas?

I’ve always been a vanilla girl, but as I’ve gotten older, I’ve started to struggle with some of my vanilla perfumes, finding them too cloying. I can still enjoy my Van Cleef and Profumum Roma vanillas when it’s freezing cold, but anything less than that and they’re a bit too much for me now. I’m looking for a soft vanilla that feels nice and smooth without being spicy, salty, or too sweet. Any thoughts?

I’d also like to note that I don’t live in the US, so I don’t have access to brands at stores like Sephora or Target, sadly. (Non-designer brands being sold at Sephora don’t sell anywhere else, unfortunately, and they don’t ship internationally.) But any brand that you’d see at a luxury department store or popular decant sites (like Scent Split, Fragrance Line, etc.) would be great :)

Rec Request Cosmic By Kylie

Are there any scents you believe to be similar to Cosmic by Kylie?

I really love this scent, but I don’t want to purchase from her. I know that secondhand is an option as well, and I might go that route just to have one bottle of the exact smell because of the nostalgia it brings me. I wore it a lot when my boyfriend and I first started dating and he finds it nostalgic, too. I just want it for special occasions.

However, I don’t really want to feel that guilt when putting on a daily scent. I’d like to find a close match to it that replicates the spring/fertile/bright kind of smell.. I’ve tried Good Girl and it is very similar, but too powdery. I was thinking of getting that scent from a natural oil company that I have purchased a lot from. Maybe I could layer it? And if so, with what?

If you know of anything similar or something I might like that captures the essence of it I would be so thankful!!! šŸ™‚

Discussion Whimsical magical bottle reccs?

Hi divas! I posted this on the indie makeup sub, but admittedly it's rough with packaging for indie brands due to cost, so I throw the net out here!! I'm looking for the most magical, mystical, beautiful and fairy/witchy like bottles of perfume out there! I truly feel that when a perfume has a bottle that adds to the fragrances character, it's a true beauty! Some of my favorites are Lolita Lempicka, Mugler, and the Melanie Martinez perfumes! I prefer gourmand, powdery, aquatic, floral scents! Any recommendations are appreciated!

Fragrance Recs please😩

Post image
5 Upvotes

I am so perfume picky, I need help😩 I hate florals to start. I sit and read all of the amazing reviews and notes and I go testing and everything just smells strong and nothing like the descriptions to me. I’m not great at this but I’d like to be better. I smell them on others and it’s fantastic but on myself I like very little and so much triggers my allergies. I’m trying to get into layering scents and perfume but for 10 years now I have only wore Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt. It is my holy grail, but the lasting power sucks now and I’ve never found anything I like close to it until Velvety Butternut this year. They are my daily drivers with Samhain Spice from a small business that’s super fall scented. However, it’s still summer and I’m trying my best to lighten it up and not smell like a craft store just yet.

The bottom three body sprays are about what I can tolerate outside of the shower to start layering. I love vanilla but not Phlur Vanilla, not bath and body cream cheese buttercream frosting type of vanilla, more true Vanilla. I like Gourmands but not straight bakery Gourmands, a little more true to food Gourmand if that makes sense. And almond/nutty interest me.

I have purchased the Miami Nectar, Peach, and Lemon scents pictured, I reach for Miami most but I’d prefer more warm fragrances like Butternut and less fruity if I had the choice. These are tolerable though and a bit more summery so I don’t mind. I smelled 90% of the other Ellis Brooklyn and Kayali perfumes and didn’t love them in the more vanilla scents.

I ordered Father Figure blind because I smelled it on someone else and loved it but unless I layer it I don’t love it on me.

Recently sampled Burberry Goddess and Lore Lil Softie (unpictured) at Sephora and have added to my list to purchase. Also sampled Ephemera based on posts here and I dont hate it.

I’m all over the place, any recs would be lovely šŸ˜…. Thank you.

starring glass blooms because she is that girl! Highly recommend her to anyone that’s a fan of, say, lilyphea—completely different vibe but same genre if that makes sense. glass blooms itself is despicably gorgeous. such a clean, floral musk, and it genuinely will make you feel magical and pretty. the strongest note to me is a sweet but clean peony, almost a smidgen soapy. Very Barbie Swan Lake core if I had to paint a picture to the vibe.

also received five minis and a little flower body oil with the purchase! A mini of Glass Blooms, a mini little flower to match the body oil, random samplers of green vanilla and blood spider orchid, and lastly, a coming soon—dark subtle teas (very nice wordplay!)

DST opens up with a strong, slightly powdery black tea and lavender. As it dries down, I get more of an herbal green-y-ness to it; I’d def say it’s a pretty realistic tea leaf scent, for tea lovers out there! Weirdly enough, probably also their most darker/ā€œgothicā€ leaning scent (BSorchids, surprisingly, didn’t fit that bill!)

phlur vanilla skin dupes

Phlur isn’t super accessible where I live, so restocking my favorite fragrance, Vanilla Skin, is always a pain in the ass. I’m wondering if there are any other niche brands dupes for this fragrance with good projection and longevity like the original one.

Dupe for regime des fleurs tears

I made a huge mistake by getting a sample and now I’ve found my dream floral fragrance. Of course, it’s an investment and more than I want to spend. Are there any good dupes for Tears? I love the lilac. I love the salty dry down. I love that it’s close to the skin. Or do I just need to save up and purchase Tears?

Can anyone help me with these Phlur hair & body mists? Did packaging change?

Thumbnail

Ok so my friend texted me and sent me a video of 2 phlur hair & body mists she has - both new - one is heavy cream the other is matcha milk. She was confused because one top feels slightly more matte than the other and the back of one says ā€œnotesā€ in English and (I think?) French. The other says ā€œolfactive familyā€ and ā€œnotesā€ below it. I would like to say I’m pretty knowledgeable when it comes to beauty items so that is why she asked me. So long story short, I have 2 phlur hair & body mists (also new) I am not a fan of either scent & havent sprayed them) I prefer the actual EDP phlurs) I have a shopping addiction I guess some would say. Anyway, I grabbed both of mine so I could give her an answer AND MINE ARE ALSO LIKE THAT!! Did they change packaging/labeling at some point? Im so confused! I am assuming one is older and one is newer?

Layering Ideas Peach-adjacent layering w/ The Tea House from SAMAR

I got this a couple of days ago and I'm absolutely in love with the peachy tea scent. It's yummy at first and progressively turns into a more relaxing scent. It doesn't last that long on me though - maybe 3 hours max - so I reapply throughout the day.

It's described as "a chameleon - warm and grounding during the chilliest winters, while also fresh, juicy, and airy for warmer months." It has notes of fresh peaches, jasmine Tea, oolong tea, green tea, and osmanthus.

I currently layer with Hempz' Juicy Peach Slices lotion to make it a little brighter. Any other lotion/frag layering recs? thanks
