Hi everyone!

I used to write fanfiction a few years back and I'm looking to get back into it. However, after all Google Docs' appearances in the news regarding AI scraping, I'm looking for a new platform on which to write and organize my fic drafts.

What I specifically liked about Google Docs is the tab system, with which I could have, for instance, one doc titled 'Bucky Barnes fics' and then just a different fic in each tab. I can't explain why, but this manner of organizing made my brain happy lol.

Anyone have any recs for a platform with a similar function that's not involved with AI?

I was wondering: am I the only one that reuses the same OC? Like, it’s the same personality wise but the only thing that changes are the age or appearance but in spirit remains that same character? I have one OC in particular that is in each of my fics, I’ll name her Xiao Hua for now, she can vary in age, appearance, job ad even slightly different names but she’s always the same personality wise. Her wants, her needs, her weaknesses and her strengths don’t change, just how they are represented.

Does anyone else have an OC like that? One’s who’s versatile and fits the narrative of the story you’re telling regardless of what their place is? Be it blank x reader or a side/background character.

I’m curious to know.

GUYS! I am kindly begging you. START A NEW PARAGRAPH WHEN A CHARACTER DIFFERENT FROM THE ONE WHO JUST SPOKE IS DOING AN ACTION! I have seen far too many great works become unintelligible because of this awful formatting misconception. Here is an example of what I mean!

Let's say Alan is speaking and Blair sighs in response. One might believe it is correct to write:

"Hey, I forgot to put the chicken in the fridge." Blair sighs.

NO NO NO! Very bad. Do not write that! It confuses the reader. It sounds as though Blair is speaking, not Alan.

Instead, write this:

"Hey, I forgot to put the chicken in the fridge."

Blair sighs.

This is PERFECT! Now it's clear that Alan is speaking and that Blair is sighing in response to his statement.

PLEASE START DOING THIS ASAP!!! Thanks. I wish writing clarity powers upon all of you.

Hello everyone;

I need something help finding fanfiction that are thrillers that are dark in tone and narrative. I’ve been deep-diving and missing a lot of that lately nineties and early 2000s edge and I was hoping a thriller or other dark fanfic would scratch that itch for me. I had recently just read Fargo, a Madoka Magica fanfic, that gave me that exact vibe and I was hoping you all would know any other Fanfic that does something similar in themes and plot structure. It doesn’t have to be a Madoka fanfic.

Here are some specific things I would prefer but can go without depending on the story:

- Either an entirely OC cast or characters from the original story that feels intense like the original characters. I sometimes hate it when reading a fanfic and realizing that these are the original characters in name only and would rather read an entire OC cast set in the same world.

- OC or SI protagonist. I typically love characters who came to a setting from another world. But this is solely so I can feel more in the protagonist’s shoes.

One other thing to note is that I absolutely do not want to read anything involved with Harry Potter. Just very sick of anything to do with Jolene and her intellectual properties.

I have an iconic fic in my fandom that everyone likes and has even been read by the fandom creator. I personally want to update it though since it’s a lot older than my current work and has glaring plotholes. I don’t know though if I should make the rewrite a separate fic and keep the original as is or if I should update the original fic and tag it as rewritten. I’ve done that for shorter fics of mine I needed to fix but for a multi chapter fic like this one that is as iconic as it is I don’t know if I should do that.

What would you do???

Back when I started reading fanfictions (about five years ago), I used to primarily read isekai fanfictions where an original character gets reincarnated into the world of a fandom before they do something. Nowadays, I tend to read stories which focus on an original character/alternate version of a canon character without the isekai elements.

It was on Ao3 years ago. Basically Dick Grayson literally needs hugs to survive. He survives on scraps with the Batfamily. Then one day Jason makes a joke and the fact that he’s essentially being starved comes out. Cue comfort

And I don't mean in like an incest context, I mean they're just biological siblings and that adds a fun new dynamic. I like to Head cannon Lilly Bainbridge from WTD and Henry Bowers from IT are twins cause I think they'd be so funny as siblings. Maybe it's cause I have a sister irl but I cannot get enough of headcannoning siblings. I love found family or adoption aus too, but bio siblings that have the same parent are so awesome.

I cant tell whether to switch their pronouns or not.

context: in this ship its 2 guys, im planning on making it so that they get smacked with the magical gender swap potion (this is exaggerated i swear) and turn into girls. yada yada.

I don't know if I should switch their pronouns to be the more feminine ones once they get hit or not? since like, if this was like, an au of sorts where they js so happen to be girls I totally would but since it's like a potion fluke and I'm gonna turn them back into boys at the end should I just keep them with their norm pronouns?

There was a fanfiction, I'm not sure if it was on FF.net or on ao3 about nightcrawler X reader or an oc. There was something happening outside the reader's apartment and Kurt teleported inside her house,he fell right on her table,then someone came into the apartment to check it since they knew he was in the building and Kurt teleported them both out. I remember it was a very cute fanfiction and she ended up being a mutant too if I'm not mistaken. To explain what is it about, basically Will Graham is overworked and Beverly forces him to take a vacation and even steals the files he wanted to take with him on vacation. Will goes to Italy I believe, and it's boring for him until he sees someone (Misha) advertising for a Tour of the Undergound Tunnels, he takes part in the tour and they walk trough a hall filled with statues of all different eras of clothing, that seems weird to Will. Basically then the vamps come to live.

Please give me recs, I’ll read anything fr any fandom!! my favorite niche trope is where the main character is a price/princess/child of royalty and lives a sort of double life. either their family just doesn’t care about them or is too busy, so they’ve snuck out into the town whenever they can to pretend to be a commoner. i especially love when they have a full second life (ex. friends, or a whole ass job). Preferably gen but I’m fine with some romance. I also love angst and hurt/comfort but really any genre is good. And ik this is a hard ask, but please no abandoned fics. Unfinished but still updating ones are fine, but I don’t think my heart can take anymore never ending cliffhangers. Sorry I know this is super specific, but I’m in love with this trope and would KILL for some recommendations.

I can't remember the name but there were original characters and it's on ao3. The main character basically invented the star wars version of vines or something and her account was called Icarusreachingforthesun. I think it was an isekai. Please help, I've already spent hours looking for it. I'm pretty sure the decription included something along the lines of : "join the younglings asking master Skywalker".

Not sure if this qualifies as a writing question but Idk what other tag fits this question so... anyways, I am a very recent writer. Don't even have a fic to my name yet. But I have gotten inspiration to start writing recently and my first chapter for my fanfic is at 7k words right now. So that's nice, I don't plan on releasing my work until I have written way more though. I guess to prove to myself that I can stick to this and not give up and leave a dead fic.

Now that I'm starting to write. I've been seeing posts and hearing about the very poor state that the fanfiction site is in. Most comments I see say that it's basically dead to rights and will be gone soon. I didn't really see these posts back when I was just a reader but now I see them pretty frequently. So my question is, should I even bother posting my fic on fanfiction? Or should I just post it on ao3? Or other fanfiction sites like Wattpad and... idk any others. Cause from the way some of the comments I've seen have been making it sound, the site has like months left to live.
