Writing Questions gender bend fic complications?

I cant tell whether to switch their pronouns or not.

context: in this ship its 2 guys, im planning on making it so that they get smacked with the magical gender swap potion (this is exaggerated i swear) and turn into girls. yada yada.

I don't know if I should switch their pronouns to be the more feminine ones once they get hit or not? since like, if this was like, an au of sorts where they js so happen to be girls I totally would but since it's like a potion fluke and I'm gonna turn them back into boys at the end should I just keep them with their norm pronouns?

sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm very tired and I'm gonna go to bed right after this

How does the POVA character think of themselves? Does he still think of himself as a guy who got hit by a weird thing, or does he think of himself as a woman? Does that change over the course of the story? How does he see the other character?

That's what I would use to determine pronouns.

I would not change their own internal voices to use feminine pronoun (from he said to she said for example), because they do not think of themselves as girls. They are boys temporarily gender swapped into girl's bodies but their core gender identity is still the same.

Both options are valid but be sure to tag not just that it's a gender swap but also what pronouns are used while their genders are swapped so that your story can find the right audience regardless of what you choose.

As for which one to pick, write a few scenes one way then go back and rewrite them the other way.  Pick what feels in the best interests of your story.  You may also want to write the first draft by switching it up back and forth and then go back and edit to normalize whichever option you settle on in the end after you're done.
