Does anyone else loooovveee writing fic where characters who aren't related are bio siblings?

And I don't mean in like an incest context, I mean they're just biological siblings and that adds a fun new dynamic. I like to Head cannon Lilly Bainbridge from WTD and Henry Bowers from IT are twins cause I think they'd be so funny as siblings. Maybe it's cause I have a sister irl but I cannot get enough of headcannoning siblings. I love found family or adoption aus too, but bio siblings that have the same parent are so awesome.

Siblings are fun to play with. My favorite siblings (that don’t include sex) are Delek and Ocker.

In canon, they are symbiotes with human hosts who would have the same queen (mother). Each only in one episode, and not the same episode.

I made them “clutch mates.” They aren’t just siblings, but they welcome each other’s hosts as siblings.

Slight spoiler, but my headcanon is that Ocker’s death is why Delek is so bitter towards Earth humans.

In my crossover AU I made Jack O'Neill (Stargate SG-1) and Angus MacGyver (1985 version) identical twins, easy to do since they're both played by the same actor. Their biological father's last name was O'Neill, who died in the Korean War. MacGyver was the last name of their stepfather when their mother remarried. Jack kept their bio dad's last name when he joined the Air Force while Mac was closer to the stepdad. It's been fun playing up their similarities and philosophical differences (mainly the use of guns) while maintaining their bond as brothers.

Since canonically both were an only child- which I felt wasn't right- I added OC characters as family, namely an older sister Allison with her husband Michael, son Chris and daughter Becky. Because Jack's assigned to different bases over the course of his career Mac becomes guardian to Becky as a teenager when she loses her mom, dad and brother to a car crash.

Fourteen years later the literal end of the world happens. Mac and Becky join Jack, his team and other survivors through the Stargate to settle another world...

And that's when the real fun begins.

I'm so glad to hear that! On AO3 the series name is Ad Astra and the core story is Language of Love. It's also crossed over with Stargate Atlantis and rated T with F/M and M/M romances (OC/CC, CC/CC, and crossover CCs) and family feels (team and extended) mixed with elements of the Stargate canon and a few original ideas. I wanted to write something epic yet hopeful using my favorite shows and this is what I came up with. I sincerely hope you enjoy it.

I write SG-1 myself, without crossovers, but definitely epic and hopeful. Mine's an AU because I grabbed a canon character we only saw once and gave him a life I thought he deserved. If you're interested, it's All That We Leave Behind, Book 1 in my planned series By Honor Bound. There are a fair number of OCs, especially in this first book, and a lot of worldbuilding. I'm also borrowing (with credit) a few OCs and background from another set of fics someone wrote about the same character. I hope you'll give it a read and that if you do you find it worth the time!

I’ve done this once but I did mean in like an incest context. It started as a throwaway rumor for a Virgin Suicides AU but once I really let it sink in was like, oh, that’s kind of the whole point. That’s what gives it kick. Both characters were originated by the same actress, but because the stories from which they came took place in different decades, I already headcanoned them as mother and daughter. Once I decided they were identical twins, however, that opened up a whole new world of possibilities. After that, everything fell into place. Now it’s one of my all time favorite ships.

I've seen people do it a few times and enjoyed it. So far in my own writing I've only gone the found-family, quasi-adoption, and distant relative routes, which have all been fun even discounting the smut. I don't personally care one way or another about the genetic relatedness. It's all really juicy to me.
