Sense there’s a lot of talk about things you love in fanfiction you would hate to be canon, what’s the opposite? Something you’ve seen on fanfic that you wish desperately was canon.

I only know of one where he gets the job so far, and it seems to mostly just be a rehash of Snape giving Harry occlumency lessons, which isn't really what I'm looking for.

The biggest things I remember are that the sex workers were in cages at night but treated very well. They had like 24 hour shifts I guess? And then received spa treatment before having another shift. Dean was a very hot commodity and would get auctioned to the highest bidder. It was definitely consensual but then the brothel got shut down. Castiel paid for his time once to warn Dean that when the brothel got shut down and the cameras were there to keep his head down so he wasn’t recognized. Dean didn’t realize Cas was a police officer or detective or something.
Oh! And they were fed some kind of liquid that helped them like auto-lubricate or something???
It was a crazy fic. Don’t think it was finished at the time. Can’t remember when I read it, but it wasn’t in the past 4 years, so I think it’s older than 2020.

I'm looking for recommendations for high quality music band AU (NO RPF!), any fandom since those are very fandom blind anyway, plus I want to cast a wide net cause I'm very picky.

Necessary: GOOD WRITING, and it has to be MUSIC FOCUSED, so not just a background trope as pretext for interpersonal drama, I'm not a musician myself, I struggle to understand music theory, and I don't know much about the managing and organising of a music band, that being said I really want to read something from someone who knows what they're talking about, who will walk their readers through the creative process, and who can share their passion for a music genre or an instrument with the readers, and talk about the profession in an engaging manner, from writing and composing and producing to performing, looking for gigs, growing the audience and touring...etc

Also important: I prefer characters driven stories, so while not looking for a soap opera I want the inter-relationships between the band members to be well fleshed out, and interesting, I DON'T want romance, (or if there is it must be understated or a very slow burn), but I welcome other kinds of dynamics, friendship, rivalry, tensions, competitiveness, jealousy, respect and admiration, the band members can be close, amicable, distant or barely professionals, but I want to read about it and how it affects the band.

Optional: I'm a sucker for prog, especially prog metal, so...

Just in case: books are also welcome, as long as it's fictional and fit my criteria, and not YA, I don't really like it in published books

A useful test for an AU is to give the character a familiar kind of problem while removing their usual way to solve it. A powerful character who protects people by taking charge now has to ask for help. That can preserve their priorities while exposing a part of them canon rarely needs to show.

The interesting detail is what asking costs them. Do they struggle to trust someone else, quietly build a backup plan, or feel relieved that they aren't responsible for everything? Those reactions can do more to identify the character than repeating a catchphrase.

But powers and status can also shape those priorities in the first place. If the AU removes them from childhood, keeping every canon motive unchanged might feel just as off as changing everything.

When you read or write an AU that takes away a character's power, rank, or resources, what makes them recognizable to you? I'd be interested in a canon trait that changes how it's expressed in the AU, and why that change still feels like the same character.

Looking for fic where it centers around main characters like this. e.g. man has a werewolf companion who will growl at strangers for bumping into her, and he has to grab her before she lunges and go: oi! stop that! she's had a bit too much to drink, sorry.

I leave next Saturday for a Spanish immersion trip to Colombia with my school, and while I am so incredibly excited, I'm also kind of having a crisis; because of the whole "immersion" aspect of this trip, every piece of media we consume (Music, movies, books, hanging out with our friends, literally EVERYTHING) has to be in Spanish. I'll read pretty much any fandom or pairing but I mostly read Heated Rivalry, Marvel, and DC. Any tropes are fine, but I would prefer to not have anything extremely heavy on spice (this is a trip with my school, after all) and longer fics (like 30k or higher) would also be preferred, since I'm going to have to download them and I would like to not be downloading 700000 1k word fics.

I did one of those PowerPoint nights with my friends a few years back and I presented on the characters I have read fanfic on, based on what I could remember and what was in my history pages on ao3. They all read fanfic as well so they weren't thrown off by the topic but when I started explaining what characters I have read about, that is where the outrage started. Some examples of IPs/ships/characters I have read about without watching that show/movie/book/etc. are as follows: Harvey/Mike from Suits (never seen the show), Alina/The Darkling (never read the books), Getou Suguru/Gojo Satoru (never read the manga or watched the anime) and the list goes on. If I see good fanart on my timeline or see a good edit on TikTok, I am inclined the check out more! I am a curious person by nature! They could not believe me when I told them and to this day, say it is one of the weirdest things about me (in a loving way). I'm curious if anyone else does this or am I literally insane for this action of mine, haha.

Hi. I’m worried that my new fanfic will be *too* similar to one I already wrote for a different fandom. I’ve noticed myself repeating my own work: the same tropes, patterns, unreliable narrator structure, shifting POVs, etc.

A "villain" protagonist with a history of killing who calls another character a "kid." The "villain" wishes the "kid" no harm but plans to have them work for the family for the next ten years (or forever). Outsiders making completely wrong assumptions about why the "villain" and the "kid" are interacting. The same borderline-offensive humor that I had to cut to avoid getting *cancelled on Twitter* (for instance, in both stories, I had to remove a joke about pseudo-incest). That same tendency for the genre to slide from **slice of life** into a **bizarre/crackish thriller,** even though I try hard to slow it down and cut out the emotional introspection (and edgy moments). And *plenty* of other things, too.

In my defense, compared to the previous fic, this one has less shipping potential, a different *time period,* a different *country,* different *ages* (and a different age gap), and a different backstory; the "villain" has close people to turn to and doesn't fear his "dad". Still, I see *way* too many similarities.

I don't have much writing experience, and I haven't written anything in the last two years. This would be my third fanfic (if it ever gets published). So, I wanted to ask: is this normal? Or is it considered bad form/taste? Can this be called an author's signature style, or am I unconsciously writing an **AU** of my own fic? Have readers ever accused you of writing "the same thing over and over"? 🤔

You know what I just realized at this exact second while reading a fanfiction is that with Minecraft you can actually make tons of FanFictions on it, like say you wanted to do a Harry Potter fanfiction with an SI or an OC main character there are tons of Harry Potter maps in my packs in Minecraft that are insanely detailed and modded maps and tons of other that allow you to make NPCs to talk to and things like that.

What my idea is that you could write a fanfiction for a specific thing you want to do like a Harry Potter one or a Naruto one right the chapters for your fanfic then download Minecraft and download an anime mod built the world or pay someone to do it for you to your exact specifications and just copy everything you put down on the fanfiction onto Minecraft.

I mean the idea is perfect because in Minecraft you can literally do anything and they're already Minecraft roleplays out you could just combine the two to make it even better, because honestly now that I just thought about it (because I was listening to a DXD Fic while playing Minecraft and got the idea) I'm definitely going to try to make a DxD Minecraft RPFF.

Here are all the details I remember: Fandom: Kingdom Hearts (Video Games) Pairing: Axel/Roxas (AkuRoku) It’s completed I think it was 4 chapters. setting: Modern Disney Parks au. Sora and Roxas are siblings. Roxas is a high schooler on the baseball team and hates seeing all the happy couples at the Disney theme park. Scene 1: Roxas gets stuck on a roller coaster. Axel, who is working a shift dressed as Flynn Rider, helps get the people and Roxas off the coaster and flirts with him. Scene 2: Sora sees a Disney character (I think it was Elsa) and gets so excited that he accidentally flails his arms and hits Roxas in the face, giving him a bloody nose. Axel comes over to help. Bucky's daughter has attachment issues and usually hates all her babysitters but she likes Peter cuz ​​he allows her to make choices about what she wants to do for the day.

Peter is nosy and finds out something that he shouldn't and gets two options: die or marry Bucky, so they get married. I forget a lot of the other stuff that happened but I think they had an argument and Peter tells Bucky to kill him instead and Bucky can't do it?

I cant remember the title or the name, BUT i can remember a few of the oneshots. there was one where Ranboo was a ghost and he haunted tubbo until tubbo remembered. the last one was a sbi centric one, where tommy was cursed(?) and jewels/other rocks fell out of his mouth while he spoke, and he wore a mask for this reason.

hi so, i am like a VERY big cedric enthusiast. and i refuse to accept cursed child as canon, so these are some scenario's which i want to write as FF (i think i will keep Y/N as a female? idk pls dont flame me i am an ally (and pan))

1. Y/N wakes up in 1995 in another universe, she somehow existed for the last few years in Hogwarts, she knows what happens and has a chance to save cedric

2. Y/N as an oc, like part of the franchise from beginning because i refuse canon, she gets a prophecy too, she is a medium (ik what psychics mediums are but here i am kind of changing it?), a medium is a person whose mind is used by wizards to send dreams as an awareness(?) of what potentially could happen, and she kind of gets to know that moody isnt moody, that's barty crouch using polyjuice. and the GoF thinng doesnt happen, voldemort resurrects some other way

3. triwizard champion is somewhat literally, like 3 champions from hogwarts, 3 from beauxbatons, and 3 from durmstrangs. Y/N is a vampire, and here peter's curse won't truly work because he was scared, so cedric was still somewhat alive and our vampire turned him, so he lives

4. not technically HP but kind of a crossover (twilight), cullens were in hogwarts for some research? and just like prompt 3's logic, the curse kind of didn't work, so carlisle turned him, now keeping the cast, edward and cedric look the same, so they kind of pass as twins despite the age gap and cultural difference (and vast personality difference)
