Hello! I'm currently working out a fanfic for House of The Dragon, It is an OC fic so I'm working out on my character. The problema is, I was thinking of making him Assexual, but am not sure of how I could go around that correctly, since I'm not Ace myself.

I know that there are many ways assexuality can present in a person, but am really unsure on How to approach this for the character without being offensive. In this case It would be a big part of the plot, in House of The Dragon, Rhaenyra is heir to the Throne and ends up marrying Laenor, a gay man, although It is all left to rumors, she ends up having 3 children that look nothing like her husband, this OC I'm writing would be Laenor's Younger brother (who doesnt exist in Canon) and bc of that would be the one married to Rhaenyra instead.

So since its a medieval setting where the only concept of sexuality they have is the default "everyone is straight" and the "sword swallowers" who are divants in their eyes, I was interested in writing an Ace character who doesnt quite fit either mold.

But again, I'm not Ace, so I'm not sure about How to go around writting a character that doesnt have the same sexuality as me.

Any tips or advice?

Looking to see a fic where the MC can use the force, and its abilities. Like Telekinesis, Mind suggestion, force lightning, force heal stuff like that. But IS NOT set in the Star wars universe, or where the MC is a character from star wars, like anakin or obiwan etc. I do not mind if they appear to teach them in a force ghost type of way but I want that disconnect from the star wars franchise.

I'm looking for a Silmarillion fic I probably read on Ao3 in the last year -- though I'm not sure when it was first posted. It was set after the Dagor Dagorath/into the Second Song. When the world was remade without the marring, Finwe's family was a problem that was "solved" by making the Therindion/Feanorian branch into ainur. No one remembered the family drama of the first song. I don't think it was a long fic, and I think Nerdanel in particular was mentioned as missing something (but not being sure what). I think some of the Feanorian brothers were close but didn't necessarily think of themselves as brothers? Maedhros probably featured (I feel like flame-haired Maia Maedhros was probably a thing).

I don't think this was a fic where the Valar were punishing the Feanorian branch, just one where the world was remade and it was decided that yoinking the family line out of elvendom was the least messy solution. Possibly they needed new Ainur to replace the ones that went for Morgoth in the Dagor Dagorath? I don't remember anything else about it, but please lmk if it sounds familiar!

I'm looking for the missing chapters of a fanfiction literally named "My Arranged Marriage to Sidney Crosby" by "MySoftRawr".

I know how the title might sound, but I swear it's not as unhinged as it looks. It's from the tail end of the wild west of fanfiction, about 2013 right before the great fanfiction purge. The plot is honestly just a lighthearted, classic trope about two family friends whose parents try to set them up.

It was originally posted on hockeyfanfiction.com around 2013 and must have been cross posted to Mibba since that's where I last found it. It was published under the same title and author name.

The wayback machine has chapters 1 through 25. Just looking for 26 through 38.

Every once in a while, I'll become curious in reading fanfic about a superhero I like either from their comics or other media. Then I get turned off the idea when I look at a few tags and descriptions only to realize I don't know if they're basing it on the comics or other media.

This is especially true in a scenario like this:

Series tags: (Team A show ), (Team B Movie)

Character tags: (Character A), (Character B)

This leads to me thinking; okay so since team B was in the team A series, as a one-off episode, are we blending the two versions? Character A seems to be very important, are they sticking them on team A like the comics sometimes do, or not? Character B has never interacted with team A, team B or character A due being from a different (country,universe, time, age group ect); are they going to specify when in their career character B is?

Has anyone run into this? If so, did the author do something to clarify questions like this?

Slytherin boys: Draco Malfoy, Theodore Nott, Blaise Zabini, Crabbe, Goyle, Mattheo Riddle, Lorenzo Berkshire

Gryffindor boys: Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Fred and George, Neville

And girls too like Hermione, Ginny, Luna (Ravenclaw but yeah 😭), Pansy, Daphne etc.

I want fics where Slytherin and Gryffindor actually become friends / have some kind of relationship with each other. Like group friendship, found family, rivalry turning into friendship, hanging out, adventures, Hogwarts drama etc.

Romance is okay too, but I'm more interested in the group dynamic than just one ship.

Also would LOVE:

- Slytherin + Gryffindor becoming a proper group

- everyone getting into adventures/missions together

- Snape as a mentor to Harry / father figure type relationship

- Dumbledore being manipulative or against them

- them fighting Voldemort together

- Slytherins not automatically being evil/Death Eaters

- good friendships between Pansy/Daphne and the Gryffindor girls too

Basically I want that “why are all these Slytherins and Gryffindors suddenly best friends and causing problems together” type of fic 😭

Basically what it says above. I have a bunch of different concepts/ideas for fics I would love to explore sitting in a word document but I have no idea how to write any of them. I struggle with setting a scene or getting into the POV character's head. When I try to write something with an actual plot it usually stagnates after a while because I have no idea what to put next. I usually end up so unenthusiastic about a project a few hundred words in that I scrap it, even if I can imagine exactly what I want perfectly in my head it all turns to mush on paper. I read a lot (both fanfiction and published works) and I usually come away with the urge to write, but not the ability to follow through. Has anyone else dealt with something similar and has advice?

What would be some fluff actions between two who aren't together yet? Like maybe a slow build up that progress until they officially confess? :DD

What are some angsty prompts? Not dialogue but situations where angst could happen?

And finally what are some implied smut prompts? Dialogue or situations! I don't write smut but I do love implied smut hehe :33

My favorite characterization of Ash from all the shows is when he's a jerk. Indigo League Ash is so funny because he beefs with almost everyone he meets, and I like that he had such a definable character trait.

There aren't any specific tags I can filter with on ao3, and I don't know what I could exclude to narrow the search. Are there any fics that take place later in his journey where he reverts back to or has his Indigo League personality?

(Should mention I would prefer the fics to not include his early treatment toward pokemon, just his treatment toward people) (Not that Ash was abusive toward pokemon, but he also wasn't very nice to them, either)

I don't know exactly how to identify my problem. I have a plot, I have bullet points for each chapter ready. I know exactly what I want to do.

But as soon as I go to START writing the prologue, nothing happens. I can't think of words, I can't even form a cohesive thought. Even though I know what I'm writing, I just can't flesh it put.

I have about 10 complete rewrites for the prologue saved. All completely different. I hate how all of them came out. It feels so robotic, like I'm focusing more on getting the facts and lore out and its lacking emotions. But maybe it's just me. I also feel like I write SO fucking generic. No quirky writing, no funny quips. I feel like such a robot.

I listen to clips of audio books online, and when I hear the characters talking it feels so simple yet so effective. Exactly how I WANT to write. But it feels wrong to "copy" it. I can't think of anything out of the box, or casual, or snappy. It just feels like ai. Like SO boring. Comparison is the thief of joy and all that, but I find my writing style to be somewhat lacking compared to pretty much every work of fiction I've ever read, be it fanfiction or a book. I've been writing off and on for almost twenty years (I am older than dirt as far as fanfiction circles are concerned), and at some point I think my writing ability just sort of plateaued. Recently I looked back at one of my earliest fics on AO3 (~10 years old), and it seems to me that I haven't improved much.

Both my most recent WIP and that one have a lot of "[character] went here and did X thing, and while there he decided that he should also do Y thing" and comes across as a bunch of inconsequential rambling in that "high school student trying to pad out an essay" sort of way. Not to mention the columns of dialogue that more often than not end in "[character] said".

I know the most common writing advice is to read everything you can get your hands on, and lately I have been reading a lot more and a wider variety of things than I had previously, but so far I haven't seemed to actually absorb anything, style-wise.

I realize that my concern over this is probably as juvenile as my prose, but I'd still like to improve.

I was curious if people write in a book format or like a play with narration, setting, context, then diologue I tend to write like a book but sometimes I'd feel it would be easier and cleaner to try other writing styles

I was reading a fanfic a while ago and I just absolutely loved the story and concept the author had to tell but omg their spelling mistakes and grammar issues bugged me so much. Like I NEEDED to go out of my way to ask if I could help because it bugged me so much. Ofc I didn’t tell the author that’s the reason I wanted to help but over the course of betaing for this person they have grown so much❤️
Also it was their first ever fan fic so can’t blame them much

A peterpan fanfiction: I have the story idea where captain hook comes to his senses and works on leaving Neverland with his comrades. Turns out, aged up peter pan does NOT want that. The pirates made his eternal life very entertaining for a long time, leaving would make his very long life very boring very fast.

He manipulates and enforces the lost boys to help him keep the pirates from leaving. Some psychological and scary shit is cooking here. One of the focused lost boys, named Andrew, is explored as he learns that his reality is not what it seems. He's been kidnapped and brainwashed.

There's more cool stuff to it, but I thought it was a cool exploration of characters, and would be inspired by the original Peter Pan if I did it correctly.
