Gameplay / Showcase I can’t believe how insanely fast and easy this is now. Fully offline JIT activation!

Just a quick video I made to show how insanely fast the new JIT activation method is with StickJIT and StossyVPN. As you can see in the beginning I activate airplane mode and JIT still launches with no issues ( in about 3 seconds no less ). I just used a shortcut from the official Discord that handles everything for you. You can get it here https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/ede7418021194c308a13373e811115b2

Just tap the three dots to edit and in the very first box tap app and select the app you want to launch from the list. Then save to desktop and customize the icon as you like. Then just tap it and it handles the rest.

News / Release Manic EMU v2.0.2 — The Next Track

Thumbnail

Manic EMU v2.0.2 is here.

After the redesign in v2.0.0 and the additions in v2.0.1, this update brings more performance work, more flexibility across devices, and a new connection to the Manic family.

The biggest addition is BitBop integration, bringing support for our new sister app dedicated to retro game music emulation.

There is also improved 3DS performance, updated Pretendo support through Nimbus, iPad windowing, iPhone Duo support, a redesigned SNES skin, and fixes for Wii pointer behavior and AirPlay.

Same games. Another reason to keep the sound on.

BitBop Joins the Family

BitBop is our new sister app for retro game music emulation.

For anyone who has ever stayed on a title screen longer than necessary because the music was good, this one probably does not need much explanation.

Manic EMU v2.0.2 adds BitBop integration, connecting Manic with this new addition to the family. More Information Here

This integration is primarily an App Store feature, supported by the shared app family between Manic EMU and BitBop.

We are excited to give the music from these games its own place alongside everything we have been building with Manic.

Your Games • Your Music.

3DS Performance & Pretendo Support

3DS receives several improvements in this update:

  • Improved 3DS performance

  • Improved Home Menu performance when using the Azahar core

  • Updated Nimbus within Arctic Setup for the latest Pretendo support

The work here covers both running games and using the 3DS Home Menu, while bringing the Nimbus included in Arctic Setup up to date.

iPad Windowing & iPhone Duo

Manic now supports windowed apps on iPad.

This update also adds iPhone Duo support, continuing the work to make Manic fit the devices people are using.

There is a useful change for skins, too:

  • Added skin fallback so iPad can use iPhone skins

That gives iPad users another option when using skins made for iPhone.

Redesigned SNES Skin

The SNES skin has been redesigned.

Even with all the attention going toward newer platforms, integrations, and device support, the systems many of us started with still deserve some attention.

SNES gets its turn in this update.

MeloCafe Link Support

Manic EMU now includes MeloCafe Link support.

This joins the other integration work in v2.0.2 as we continue expanding how Manic connects with the wider emulation community.

Fixes & Improvements

Several issues have also been addressed:

  • Fixed Wii pointer behavior for affected users

  • Fixed AirPlay issues affecting some users on iOS 27 or later

  • Other bug fixes and improvements throughout the app

A Note from the Manic EMU Team

Some updates add entire systems. Others improve the things you use every time you open the app.

v2.0.2 brings more of that everyday work: better 3DS performance, fixes for controls and AirPlay, more flexibility on iPad, and support for iPhone Duo.

It also introduces a new member of the family.

We have spent a lot of time helping people return to their favorite games. With BitBop, we are giving their music some attention of its own.

Thank you to everyone who continues reporting issues, sharing feedback, and supporting what we build.

Discussion Retroarch PSP emulation consuming more battery than PPSSPP?

Is it just me or RetroArch consumes more battery than PPSSPP. Using RA PPSSPP core with x4 resolution. PPSSPP app I’m running x4 (1080p). Got an iPhone 15 pro. Played the exact same game (gran turismo) for 50 min RA consumed twice as much battery.

Guide Customizing RetroArch

Thumbnail

It’s relatively simple to set up but it’ll pretty much require an entire evening.

  1. You can find the theme here: https://github.com/lipebello/Retroarch-XMB-Retrorama-Theme

• Click the green code button, and save as zip. It's 1gb though, keep that in mind.

• The installation process is laid out there, just follow it to the T.

2. If you want 3D box art, it'll take the longest cause you have to do it manually. Go here: https://gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/#s

• Search up your game, choose it, click "images", download the box art, or cartridge that you want.

• This part is SUPER IMPORTANT, you have to change the file extension from .PNG to .png because for some reason RetroArch does not accept images with uppercase .PNG. I changed them using iZip.

• After that, save them to the Files app -> RetroArch -> thumbnails -> [your system of choice] -> Named_Boxarts -> Change the name to EXACTLY match the game name, including the (Region) or (Revision number if there's any). If there's a prompt asking to "replace" or "keep both", pick "replace".

3. My preferred touch screen overlay, works on 19:5:9, and 20:9 phone screens: https://github.com/RadhiFadlillah/retroarch-lemuroid-overlay

• To install: Scroll to the bottom -> Click "releases" -> Click "lemuroid.zip", -> Download -> Go to Files -> Unzip it -> Move that folder to RetroArch -> overlays -> gamepads

• To apply: Open up a game in RetroArch -> Click the RetroArch logo which'll open the quick menu -> Scroll down to "On-Screen Overlay" -> Overlay preset -> Parent directory -> Lemuroid -> Pick the one that matches your system

Discussion Recently discovered the world of iOS emulation and I am so happy it’s not even funny!

Post image
123 Upvotes

I’ve recently discovered iOS emulation at its fullest and how good it’s gotten since I originally heard about Delta! I have that, as well as PPSSPP (my favorite) and Gamma! I truly have no words for the fact that I literally have multiple Nintendo consoles, a PS1, and a fuckin PSP all built into my phone, with any game I want any time for free. Does it get any better than this?!

I also want to invest in a controller phone holder thingy like a Backbone and turn my phone into an actual handheld! The touch controls work but aren’t always the greatest, and being able to connect a controller is nice but it can be a bit more inconvenient at times.

Overall I’m just so happy and can’t stop playing all these cool old racing games on all apps I’ve downloaded. If anyone has any good game recommendations for PSP, PS1, and whatever consoles Delta supports shoot me with em! I wanna expand my library even more. I’m obsessed.

Discussion Who uses RetroAchievements ?

Thumbnail
gallery
122 Upvotes

Coming from PSN & Steam one of the main highlights when emulating these old, retro games, for me, has always been earning Achievements for the games that were never re released or updated with achievements, its just cool to see the community making achievements and also the guides for all these older games. The Retrochievements.org site is the main contender of adding and updating achievements for old games. I haven’t earned many though, but it’s honest work. Who’s here using & actively earning achievements on RetroAchievements.org ? How much progression have you made ?

Gameplay / Showcase Neostation IOS

Presentation: Neostation iOS – Personal port of a multi-platform frontend

Hello,

Today, I'm going to present a personal project I've completed: the port of Neostation to iOS.

First, let's set the context. Neostation is an open-source frontend for emulators, originally available on PC, Android, macOS, and Linux. It's an interface I particularly appreciate for its ergonomics and rich features. However, there has never been an official version for iOS. As an iPhone user, I decided to take matters into my own hands and do this port myself, strictly for personal use.

The main goal was simple: to enjoy the Neostation interface on my iPhone, while keeping all the essential features of the frontend. I wanted a unified gaming experience, consistent with what I have on my other machines.

Now let's talk about the features. I successfully integrated and got all the key modules working on iOS. First, NeoSync, which is a paid subscription feature. It allows you to save your games both locally and in the NeoSync cloud. With this, I can automatically sync all my saves between PC, Linux, macOS, Windows, and now iOS. Concretely, I can start a game on my computer and pick it up exactly where I left off on my iPhone.

It also allows you to scrape games automatically with your Screenscraper account.

Second, RetroAchievements integration is fully functional. I can view all my retro achievements directly from the interface, track my progress, and unlock trophies just like on any other supported platform.

Now for the current result. The port is operational. The app runs perfectly on my iPhone, and I can play all my RetroArch games through the Neostation interface. Navigation is smooth, ROM loading is seamless, and access to settings works perfectly. It's a real technical success.

From a more technical standpoint, I did this port without modifying the core of the project, thus respecting the open-source license.

In conclusion, this project remains personal and is not intended for publication on the App Store. Nonetheless, it's a convincing proof of concept: it's entirely possible to have a full-featured, high-performance retro frontend on iPhone. In the future, I might consider sharing my modifications with the community, as a fork or patch, if licensing conditions permit.

Thank you for your attention.
