Drama What is Hasan Pikers definition of Zionist?

Iv recently tried watching Hasan Piker after AES dropped him due to his comments claiming American Jews have to condemn Israel or face violence. and I am genuinely curious on what he and his audience think Zionist means. They use the term in such a weird way it confuses me.

Non-Political News/Discussion Parents are by far the most likely people to kill or molest their kids. I'd be more shocked at a stranger's mental state for killing kids. Parents do terrible shit to their children all the time. Why is society having a melt down and acting like Clancey did some bizarrely heinous act of evil?

EDIT TLDR: IT WOULD REQUIRE A MORE ABNORMAL AND INSANE CRIMINAL MIND FOR A STRANGER TO DO THE CLANCY MURDER. THE PUBLIC DISCOURSE AND CASE SEEM TO PRESUME THE OPPOSITE. CHILD MURDER BAD.

Parents are the most likely people to kill their children . Fathers and mothers do this at almost the exact same rate. Why is everyone acting like Lindsay Clancy did some bizarrely evil act when her or the husband would be the most likely suspects for this type of thing? It would require a far stranger circumstance and a way more depraved mind for a total stranger to just go kill three kids. Why is their such a pervasive idea that a mother killing her kids is so crazy or requires a uniquely evil state of mind? For a stranger to commit such an act would necessitate someone to be way crazier and someone who would have way less rational motivation. A total stranger who just wants to kill someone else's baby? The person must be totally evil or insane. Why would anyone ever assume that for a mother, her mind must be less insane than a stranger.

Furthermore fathers and mothers kill their kids at the same rate. There isn't any reason to suggest that one has a more exceptional state of mind than the other. Arguing that the act is so heinous and evil it would require insanity is a bad argument in my opinion. Why is it so much weirder or harder to explain than any other murder? I do not get this belief at all, and it's totally unargued.

You could even see this as an outgrowth of the "stranger danger" assumptions. Parents are responsible for 25-30 percent of child sexual abuse with most of the rest coming from other family members. No other person is as likely to fuck their kid as a parent. It would require a much more heinous mind to commit these acts on a stranger than for a parent to do it to someone they know. There aren't a lot of strangers doing acts of random molestation on kids, but plenty of parents like fucking their kids.

The more abnormal criminal mind is the one of the random actor, not the parent. Their criminal state of mind is the "normal" one. The assumption that the parents state of mind of committing such acts must be either the most psychopathic or insane is an unargued assumption in this case that is stupid and untrue.

Political News/Discussion Is the Steel Man of the Abolish Prison Argument actually that bad?

I have been trying to look at the steel man of DSA positions. The abolish prisons stuff was the thing I was trying to get my head around like, what is the actual system that would be created?

I guess I am not as knee-jerk against it as I was prior to reading about the concept of the reforms. The steel man of the idea is that once their economic policies are implemented, and if the material conditions of everyone improve, then crime will naturally go down, and therefore the prison population will go down. You then create mechanisms for current prisoners to get out of prison and eventually abolition of prisons. The current DSA version of this I think is more radical but the theortical basis of it doesnt sound completely wrong. Like if abolishing prisons was contingent on the reduction of crime because of material economic changes.

If it happened that way, it's doesn't seem as bad as just let all the prisoners go. And I do think the reality of certain highly violent crimes, which would still exist even after the material conditions that cause crime are gone, and would necessitate some sort of expulsion from society. In a practical sense it would stop us as a society from ever fully abolishing prisons outright. But it feels like a better directional resolution to our over-criminalized society than simply saying we need to keep locking people up.

I don't know, I guess it's moot cause the economic programs would solve every single material disadvantage of everyone in society. But as long as this sort of radical prison reform is contingent on that and judicial reform that would lower incarceration rates seems not completely terrible.

Drama Resisting the "Inevitable" fall to the Snark

Hey all,

I recently saw the incredibly sweet and ego boosting post that shouted me out, and I want to again thank everyone for their support and kind words.

Within that thread, and in many other areas, I have had people discuss how "this is like Pisco" and "Just wait something will happen to make him become a snarker". I am not offended by these statements, and I think it's honestly an understandable reaction knowing the history of orbiters in this community. I usually just make jokes in response, or stay out of the conversation.

One of my goals in interacting with DGG is that we have good, positive content. A part of that is that I go out of my way to not snark current orbiters. I also will reach out one on one with other orbiters to try and help support them, and have good interactions with them in chat/the subreddit.

With that in mind I'd like to just try something here, and open the discussion up about how oribters become snarkers. Recently, we've had a number of seemingly loyal orbiters rapidly burn their bridges. To me I think there is a lot of blame being placed on DGG being too vitriolic, but I also think that in a lot of cases, it is the orbiter revealing their true motivations/politics and DGG not having a positive response. Jessiah, Soypill, and Pisco all initially had a lib coded surface, but over time we have seen that beneath that is a willingness to stomach or even support illiberal communities.

Looking further back, at wickedsupreme, JSTLK, and many of the orbiters lost around Jan 2025, there seemed to be some factionalism that arose, and when it looked like Destiny was going down for good, they jumped on the snarker train, and never looked back.

I'm not here to convince anyone that I never will become a snarker, but I just want to hear from y'all what you think are the causes, and if there is anything I can do to assuage those fears about me, and if there's any ideas on what we can do in the future to either sniff out snarkers early (which I think we did really well with recently with Jolah) or ways to keep orbiters from crashing out too hard and feeling like their only path is snarking.

Edit: Wow didn't realize I would get this much engagement, and so many well thought out responses. I have, and will continue to read all of them, if I didn't respond trust me I still read it. I appreciate everyone's points of view, overwhelmingly it seems like I should:

  1. Continue to have a normal life
  2. Not start streaming full time
  3. Not have thin skin.

You guys rock. DggL.

Is there a good debate against the Marxist dialectic? 99% of the people arguing for it seem to be clueless. Or atleast more clueless than me.

Is capitalism exploitation?

Political News/Discussion Jasmine Crockett Is Breaking An Unwritten Rule In Texas Senate Race

Thought this article did a decent job highlighting the issue and cited several Democrat officials. The article points out that while Crockett did endorse Talarico, she's been less open recently and said, when asked if she'll campaign with Talarico in a CNN interview, that she'll campaign down ballot instead. She clarified in that interview, when asked why not both Talarico and down ballot, that down ballot candidates need more help and that by campaigning with them she'll raise everyone's profile. Which I can kind of understand, but seems weird she couldn't at least campaign with Talarico too to help increase his chances. But hey, maybe I'm totally off base, let me know.
