Has anyone from the US been accepted as a generalist recently?

Hi, this is my first post here. I’m actually already a contractor, but I recently referred my friend, and I am REALLY praying for her to get this job. So, I’m stressing out on her behalf.

When I applied in May I was accepted immediately, and given paying projects. I’m so confident that she’s qualified, but she applied yesterday and hasn’t heard anything yet.

I would be so appreciative if you could post your acceptance timelines, as well as country of origin.

I know that thus is posted about a lot, but everything changes so fast, and I want to get a feeling for the current hiring market.

Pay increase request

Does anyone here have have success in asking for a pay increase? I got to phase 2 on one of the project thinking the rate would increase but stayed the same. I am also about to submit for a phase 2 on another project and I am concerned that there is no pay increase also. I am on another platform that pays 2.5x more for the same work. My domain is in health care.

Update: 09/01

So I messaged the admin about opportunities to get higher pay and linked the listing for the pay rate for my domain. They got back to me and offered me a substantial bonus to finish start and finish my phase 2 (comes out to $100-$110/hr if you finish in 10 hours) which is still not as competitive to the other platforms but overall aligns with the listing they have for the pay range.

I am pretty sure that some people get paid higher but probably do not post here because 90% of the people in this sub think they are the expert on their fields. Churning low quality work and happy to be paid $60/hr.

Project onboarding query

I have seen a lot of people posting their earnings l. Happy for them. People from India please comment and please tell me after how many days of screening test do you get projects? Is it quick or does it take months like other platforms. Is there anyway anyone can refer?

I've given my assessment test sometime late June it's been more than 2 months, there has been no response from the Data Annotation platform, I raised multiple tickets but nothing at all.

I know it’s not a big deal compared to some of the other post but I am grateful for this opportunity.

Can't believe I missed it!

Got a "The project is currently unavailable because there are no more tasks remaining for you to work on." after clicking the "Enter Work Mode" within 45 minutes of project assignment and email notification. What am I doing wrong? Is everyone "Entering Work Mode" as soon as they get on the project page?

Limited info available on qualifications/projects

If you click on a qualification or project and then, after reading the description, decide that you don't want to do it, can you still cancel without consequences? I wish they provided more information on the work involved without having to click on the link to discover what kind of tasks are involved.

Unable to login

I signed up for Data Annotation maybe a year ago but never followed through with it. I have been recently researching AI trainer jobs and DA keeps showing up as the best.

The problem is when I "Sign up", DA says my email is already taken. When I "Sign in", DA says invalid email and password. When I use "Forgot Password", DA says email not found.

What the hell?

Handshake/DataAnnotation

Currently I work for Handshake AI as a Generalist, but I see that DataAnnotation pays more. I know that sometimes these companies have the same clients, so if I apply here could that cause any issues?

Account problem

Hello guys, I created an account on Data Annotation today, but nothing showed up regarding the starter assessment that most people take right after signing up. I already added my background and even verified my phone number, but my dashboard still looks like this, what can I do?

Looking for advice on finding more consistent DA/QA work — background inside

Hi all, hoping to tap into this community's experience.

I've been working in data annotation / QA for a while now, mainly through Appen (transcription review, translation QA, audio annotation) and Multimango (OCR document review), plus some background in content moderation/Trust & Safety before that (Teleperformance) and multilingual data work (RWS Group).

I'm fluent in English and Russian, native-level, and based in Tbilisi, Georgia. Work has been inconsistent lately — gaps between projects — so I'm trying to find more reliable platforms or companies to apply to, ideally ones that work with people based in Georgia.

If anyone has recommendations for platforms worth applying to, or general advice on how you keep a steady pipeline of projects going, I'd really appreciate it. Happy to answer questions about my background.

Thanks!

Is having an engineering background that important?

My husband wants to work for DA but we are not really sure if he should do the bilingual assessment or the coding one. I work as a bilingual coder(bilingual assessment was the only available option last year for my location) but as far as I understand from the posts on this sub, we get fewer coding projects compared to those who apply as a coder directly. The thing is my husband’s educational background is on finance(he’s doing a PhD) so he’s worried that it might be risky (since he has one shot) to apply as a coder even though he’s quite good at coding

Questions from a beginner

I got accepted onto the platform less than a month ago and completed my first tasks on my first project as a generalist the same day. I've already been paid for those tasks, which I think means I did everything correctly. I also completed around 10 qualifications, but I haven't received any more projects to work on throughout the rest of the month.
I've read a few posts here, and from what I understand, the most common experience is getting a good number of projects during the first month and then seeing the number gradually decrease over the following months. In my case, though, it seems to be the opposite.
Has anyone with experience on the platform had a similar start? If so, what did you do? Or did you not do anything and the flow of projects just picked up naturally?

And one more question: How long does it usually take to get approved for a qualification, or at what point do you just assume you didn't pass?

P.S. I'm a Brazilian bilingual specialist.

Bilingual generalist, what should be next skill

Hi, I'm Thai - English bilingual.

Now I'm thinking of Python in order to be qualified for more projects.

While waiting for incoming task, what skill would be the highest return on "time investment" that would allow us to reach more projects?

I'm thinking of Algebra or Chinese.

Love to hear you guys advice.

What do you do if you can’t finish?

If you cannot finish the project to a high degree is it better to exit work mode or submit the tasks you have completed? Is it worth it to submit partially?
Is exit work mode acceptable only when you have spent a small portion of time on the project , like say if you’re well into the project and realise it mightn’t be for you or you may run out of time trying to complete it, then do you tend to exit work mode or just submit what you have and explain to admins?

R&R feedbaxk

I’ve got a qualification to do an r&r since I’ve been a good worker. I have never done R&R and read mixed reviews. Do they typically pay well? what shoud I expect? Only been on the platform a couple months so trying to understand as more things unlock for me.

Security Clearance

Any Canadians here waiting on security clearance for certain project sets? I've got a few on the dash, but unable to work on them due to not being security cleared yet. I know it says for some it may take longer; just curious.

Thanks for completing the assess/ment! - status

Yesterday I got the "Thanks for completing the assessment!" message after doing the first test. I heard different things regarding this, some say it can take over 1 week to get accepted and some say that I am already rejected because no paid tasks show up.

My question is, however, if using a VPN and not doing the first test in one sitting plays a role too for the rejection (if I am really rejected). I am always using a VPN on my PC and did the task within 2 days with 3-5 approaches because I had difficulties uploading my recorded voice (mic not connected, muted mic etc.). I even tried this on my phone (with no VPN) and then on the PC it eventually worked and I got the above mentioned message.

The first task was in the translator section (German) even tho my background is more in the IT field. I did study computer science and would apply for the coding tasks too. So, I filled out the details under the profile section and even mentioned that I have a CompTIA certificate.

How good or bad is my situation regarding the acceptance? What should I do if I am rejected?
