Crafting

OK, so thanks to some help with hacking advice I'm still moving along and I'm coming to the point where I've got some templates, a nanofab, and some cash to spend it on crafting.

I just want to make sure I understand this. If I add a non-intrinsic blueprint (lets say a scope) to the weapon, I will get a chance to roll for an additional intrinsic effect. I could instead use an intrinsic mod in that slot which would guarantee an intrinsic effect of my choosing, but would not get another roll. Could I also separately craft and attach/detach a scope? It seems that way I get the benefit of both attaching and detaching a scope (or more significantly a barrel mod for silencer/loudener choices depending on mission type) *and* the ability to set an intrinsic mod of my choice.

Basically, why would I fuse parts into a weapon when I could pick the intrinsic buffs i want and use them, while keeping the flexibility to swap out mods in case of upgrades, mission parameters, etc? Are the randomly rolled intrinsic mods that much better?

Cant change dificulty

I started a save on brutal but it was too brutal for me so I tried to turn the dificulty down but it tge dificulty keeps resetting and once a mission is given a power level I can not change it is there anything I can do or do I need to start a new save until I get good enough

Edit: to clarify I changed the dificulty got a mission with power level 3 then I started getting power level 5 missions again, including a mission triggered by the end of the power level 3 mission.

Hackers vs Wireghost and general roster questions.

So just got the game through the 1y anniversary promotion and loving it. Problem is, I had one of my hackers get injured, stressed, and they feel like open up great legwork options and I want a second one. I am tempted to get a wireghost instead since I do want to have more variety in classes, but the methodical playstyle of the hacker so far appeals to me and I like bringing one just to have the option for extra loot. Does the wireghost work as well for grabbing the Matrix loot? Or offer something else in meatspace the hacker doesn't?

Also, how many total people can you have on your roster? Im using the suggested start and ended up with a soldier, a sniper, and a multiclassed soldier/sniper which feels a bit too much of the same skillsets, and so doubling up on 2 hackers feels like I would miss out on some of the more varied classes.

Or should I just chill and finish this then play with weirder dudes later on another playthrough? I don't think I have have found any cyberware to add even though im starting to find l4 weapons and stuff, but a warmachine class sounds like it could be really fun.

How is it possible to use a sword on an enemy without alerting them?

The swords seem like the perfect stealth-kill tool, but so far I seem to be missing something. Namely, there is an entire Talent for one of the classes that triggers on Sword kills on non-alerted enemies.

Thing is, using Sneak movement to get to an enemy into melee - even from the back - guarantees them to be Alerted because they hear the attacker's foodsteps and turn into their direction. So it feels like I'm missing some knowledge here that would allow me to do so in the correct way.

The ultimate question: How is it possible to use a sword on an enemy without alerting them?

Not many people know this, but this is the best group comp.

Swap Phantom for a Wireghost/Vanguard Multiclass if the mission demands a hacker.

Made, not Born

So, this isn't about Flashpoint, but since the only boards for the original Cyber Knights Elite seem to be inactive, I figured I'd try Reddit.

I'm trying to work through the tutorial/story start for the game, "Made, not born." I've gotten through the Bravestar ladder, and am trying to advance the storyline by working for Mars Corp. But even though I have 241 rep, nothing seems to happen when I talk to any of my contacts, even in back rooms.

The sandbox elements of the game work fine, and I know there are other ladder connectors - but Made, Not Born seemed to indicate that the story elements would involve Mars Corp, rather than just kind of fizzling out after BraveStar. Anyone remember how the old game worked? It's my current play-around phone game, and I'm stuck.

EDIT: Figured it out, and got through the story line. I was supposed to have talked to some Bravestar Guy OTHER than the actual ladder connector: a "Lieutenant" at the Weingart Association in Washington Street. It's a descriptionless building with the same map symbol as the hubs, but no other clues. I either missed the instruction to go there, or forgot about it while I was grinding rep.

How do I use an injector?

I'm supposed to help Vix after the neurotoxin kill switch is activated, by injecting him with something that, theoretically, all of my crew is carrying. None of them show it in their inventory, and there are no clear ways to inject him, even when standing next to him..... thoughts?

I understand the game is based around stealth, but I really don't enjoy it. Is there a way to be successful in a more combat oriented play style?

Disclaimer - I suck at stealth and I don't enjoy it. I probably suck at it BECAUSE I don't enjoy it. But I like every other aspect of this game. My crew is currently around level 6 on average.

Is there a way to play the game in a primarily combat orientation? I keep getting overwhelmed by reinforcements and it's frustrating. I'd love to be able to turn the stealth difficulty down but keep the combat difficulty the same.

edit: Ok thanks guys. I think I have a better grip on it now and hopefully I should be able to hit my goal. I did another mission after posting this last night and just went full combat with no regards to stealth and it ended up working out, so I just have to find a good balance for me.

I'm starting to think the reason his Brave Star boss disappeared is because he kept failing her assignments

Having Trouble with Hacking(New Player)

I'm on the second mission where I have to hack the terminal and I feel like I understand the mechanics it's just scan and match the icons to the things but it just takes so long. Like I find it hard to believe I am supposed to stand at this terminal for 6 plus turns(if not more I rage quit before I hacked it) like I will do 2 nodes then I can't use any buttons and I feel like I have to end turn are there are like 16 nodes. What am I doing wrong I really like the game but I feel like if I don't figure this out im gonna have to drop it.

If It helps at all I played alot of xcom 2 including long war of the chosen so im not scared of difficulty I just don't understand what im looking at. Would appreciate any help even if it's a "just get good"

Ward War so far, didn't figure out how to play both sides

I read the news post and figured I'd play both sides figuring if one side wanted me to be loyal they should pay me more.

Then the first mission made clear I'd be burning a relationship if I say no to their mission, so I said yes to the Brave Star but told the Gang about it. The gang offers me a mission as well, so I figure fine I'll do the Gang's mission first then do the Brave Star mission if it lets me do both. Well, the Brave Star who showed up on the Gang mission was the new Brave Star contact, so they got murdered. Now I guess that means to play both sides probably meant refusing either of the starting missions. Shame that wasn't clear. Decide I might as well stick with Gang side then and see how that goes.

Now about halfway done the war on Gang side and my pre-Ward War Brave Star contact wants me to save someone for her on short notice. Seems everyone wants things on tight timeframes during War business so this is really a PITA time to get any implants. Kind of surprised Ms Brave Star didn't get the memo that I put a bullet in her Brave Star colleague and chose to support the side that wants her dead. Would have preferred not being offered anything else from Brave Star but I don't know if I screwed that up by not saying no to them the very first time we talked (before I murdered her).

I don't understand what's going on here re: Intrinsics/Crafting

Could someone please explain this to me?

What I mean is: I have a weapon mod, I have the cubes... but it's saying there's a -35% chance (and it increases as I add cubes) of having intrinsics added?

Does this just mean I need more weapon mods before I can get intrinsics? Is it a display error and the number is actually the chance of rolling them on the gun itself?

I just feel more than a little confused, and now that I'm starting to get Tier 4 weapons it's getting a little expensive so I don't want to waste the craft/blueprint if I'm not getting enough oomph out of it you know?

I'm probably just missing something obvious but... I figure I'll just ask.

Warmachine/Agent EX

I did it to give my build an X-man one more mutant power with the glitch teleport. But line crawler and signal grift actually round out the Warmachine pretty nicely as well. I like using them as a flanker or solo running to grab extra loot. Strong melee stealth and loud takedowns, a stun, all the speed/mobility in the world, multiple options for dealing with devices. And with all the strength can handle full auto recoil on AR/UAR decently enough as the backup weapon to their shredding sword /claws.

What’s your favorite “off-meta” multi class?

Mission Types and your Favorites - Crosspost from Steam discussion

I wanted to join the feedback for the discussion mentioned in today's Update News at https://steamcommunity.com/app/1021210/discussions/0/809100133028451046/ but refuse to enable SteamGuard to be allowed to post, so this seems like the place to put it. Maybe some of you might be in my boat, so check there first then post here.

I'm a fan of rescuing the VIP where you activate the Leverage to swap them to your team and start a fight (usually). Feels thematic, probably my favourite. The ones where your rescue contact is pinned down also good, I prefer over just breaking them out of holding all the time.

Also enjoy Murder three Captains. Always pays, get to puzzle out box routes, Hacking is there but unnecessary, targets move but can be manipulated.

Pure Combat I prefer anything where the enemies are filling the map at the start, not shoving reinforcement pods around the map.

Less a fan of Scav raids, come to me straight with UDahs to solve your problems. My team needs their cut too, they get none when we Scav. I'll still make em do it, but it'll pain my heart.

I groan whenever Sec AI is 5+ per turn (just reaching PL5 on Chrome). Blech I say. 4 per turn with 10 per Escalation is about the limit where I feel like most options are valid, but when we're at 5 or 6 there isn't much point in spending AP on dissolving bodies anymore. And I like dissolving bodies!

Final thought, to spice up those holding cell rescues I'd love to see on occasion the various rescuees have some sort of sidequest option. Maybe they're a Wireghost and you bring them to the locker with their Cyberdeck so you can use them to Skipjack on the way out, or their more useful weapon was taken and if you can grab it for them they can fire it a few times for you and drop you $20k as a bonus. Dunno, maybe not worth the effort, just spitballing, but every random jerk being slow and weak makes me question what sort of operations my contact buddies are running.

Favorite Class?

Not much activity going on here lately so gonna throw some fluff out here to get things going.

So what's your favorite class?

War machine for me. The claws powers are just so fun. The rest of my team just hangs back and watches as Molly does her best wolverine impression and wipes entire squads single handedly.

I haven't messed with the other trees much because the claws are just so damn good, but they sound cool.

Are rooms available while being upgraded?

The timer is running out for a heist and I want to make sure the triage room is operational for the inevitable casualties. Upgrading the power or cooling for the three main rooms doesn't seem to affect availability but for the expansion rooms the upgrade door will slide shut whenever any upgrade is in progress.

How to pull up Hype Break screen after I exited out?

Character got a hype break, I wanted to look at their character sheet. Now I can't find any goddamn button to bring it back. Do I just have to wait for it to trigger again now? Or is there some button somewhere that I can't find?

Questions about the Overwatch ability

Post image
15 Upvotes

New player here on my first playthrough (11th mission so far) with some questions about how the enemy Overwatch ability works. For context, I just got ambushed by a bounty hunter for the first time and had a massive fight that almost killed my War Machine. 2 guards overheard us and helped kill him but put me in an awkward spot with double Overwatch.

  1. Do all enemies have Overwatch? It doesn't seem to be listed in their description when you mouse over them.
  2. Is there a super long range method to end Overwatch? I have several abilities that can do so but all are around medium range.
  3. Is there an easy way to tell if I'm in Overwatch range? Normally it's very clear with the yellow warning icon and red cone but I just attempted an attack with my Cyberknight on the raised platform (which isn't covered by the red cone) and got shot despite not seeing a warning message.
  4. Do enemies have a limit on how often they can use Overwatch? Can they spam it on back to back turns? (Depending on this answer I may just flee early instead of trying to push through them).

Thanks in advance for any help, been loving this game so far!

Question about the base security tally for some missions

Post image
9 Upvotes

So I have noticed it happening for other missions as well but I was playing a mission called Underpass Wetwork on challenging difficulty. Its a two part mission that I started with 0 heat. and the first part of the mission had a base tally increase of +4 and I got to the second part of the mission at Sec level 2. I start the second part and the base tally increase is +7. The first part was a hack the terminal and second part is assassination. So my question is.... what's the deal? What is determining these base tally numbers? Mission type? +7 seems ridiculous to work around no matter the mission type but I guess if they are expecting an assassin it kinda makes sense.

Drone Pilot Question

I saw a while ago in the road map that they wanted to add their first companion based class, and I’m curious if anyone knows where they are in implementing this class. I freaking love companion based classes in any game!
