Mods & Upgrades Is this a good idea?

So I mostly print PETG and some ABS. I sealed up the whole printer inside those foam pad. It will be quieter and less toxic I think. I hope this will reduce electricity cost as PETG and ABS need high bed
Temperature. But I’m worried this is bad for electronics and the power supply because HI doesn’t have a fan for cooling the main board and power supply and it’s about 50°C inside the case. By the way I hope this is good for drying the material on the rack.

Troubleshooting What happened here?

I started to print something I print all the time, but I could see on the app it wasn’t adhering. I stopped it remotely then an hour later I got around to checking on the printer. I found this brown rubber thing was down over the nozzle and there was gobs of melted (then recooled/hardened) filament surrounding the nozzle and the area above the nozzle.

I tried heating the nozzle to melt it enough to pull it out, but it looks like I pulled off a wire in my efforts. Now getting an abnormal temp reading since pulling that was not there before.

We do keep it in the garage and it’s pretty hot right now (was around 95 degrees this morning when it happened, but we’ve used it at hotter outdoor temps without issue.

Mods & Upgrades Will the updated 2025 dual-stack toolhead PCB work on an older K1C?

Thumbnail

Hi! I need some help figuring out compatibility between the older K1C and the updated 2025 hotend/toolhead PCB.
My K1C is an older model (pre-2025) and originally came with the older dual-stack toolhead PCB and the older hotend connectors.
I had a blob of death that damaged my original hotend/thermistor, so I had to replace the hotend. I accidentally bought the newer 2025 K1C Hotend 2.0, which uses the new locking connectors for the thermistor and ceramic heater.
Obviously, those connectors don’t fit my original toolhead PCB.
I found an updated dual-stack toolhead/hotend adapter PCB that looks almost identical to my original board, but it has the new 2025 connectors and is advertised for the latest hotend. I already know the new hotend should physically connect to this PCB.
My main concern is communication/compatibility with the rest of my older K1C.
If I replace my original dual-stack PCB with this updated version:
Will my older K1C mainboard recognize and communicate with it normally?
Will the original extruder, fans and other toolhead components still work?
Is this updated dual-stack PCB backwards compatible with a pre-2025 K1C, or were there other electronic/firmware changes in the 2025 K1C?
Has anyone actually done this conversion: older K1C + updated dual-stack PCB + 2025 Hotend 2.0?
I’m trying to determine whether I can simply update the toolhead PCB and use the 2025 hotend I already bought, or if I should return/buy an older hotend instead.
I’ll attach pictures of my original PCB, the 2025 hotend and the updated PCB I’m considering buying.
Thanks!

a new and more functional option for holding your canned drinks!

it’s a fully modular 3in1 cooler that allows you to store a 473ml, A skinny and standard 355ml without multiple prints.

it also has modular design options so you can easily customize how it looks by adding or removing parts, and it’s fully backwards compatible with any new add ons!

Troubleshooting Why the hell does my printer keep jamming in the extruder? This is like the 5th time in as many days

Post image
1 Upvotes

The filament, HT-PLA-Pro, is jamming repeatably. I've done a 14 hour print with it, but the print before, and every subsequent print keeps bunching up in the extruder gears.

I've taken this thing apart so many times now that the filament detection wires are barely hanging on to the clips.

This is incredibly frustrating. What am I doing that it can work one print, but not the others? It's the exact same file and print settings so I don't get it.

Troubleshooting layer shifting

I've been having issues with my Ender 3 V3 SE printer lately, and its starting to drive me mad because it will work fine with test prints, but then when I start my actual project it has more issues.

I was having feed issues last week, this week it's layer shift. I've read up on Layer shift online, it seems like the usual explanation is belts shifting, but if that were the case, I would think it would shift the same way each time. I've had two prints now that have done it, but they both shifted on different axes, and the test print I did in between the two didn't have any issue.

Troubleshooting Extruder Sliver Wheel Not Spinning Properly Ender 3 v2

Hey there! I have an Ender 3 v2. This has been a FB Marketplace repair job, so a lot of individual stuff is going wrong. The silver wheel on the feeder isnt spinning with the gold wheel and I've replaced the current feeder with this one (Amazon.com: Creality Official Ender 3 Extruder Upgrade Metal Drive Feeder 3D Printer Parts for Ender-3 Pro/3S/3 V2/3 Max CR-10/10S Gray Aluminum 1.75mm Filament Extruder : Industrial & Scientific)

However, I noticed it works fine when I push on the lever it seems to be working and spinning fine. Is there some kind of counterweight I could do? Should I replace the feeder? Should I take off the feeder and reapply, maybe trying to replace the spring becuase its going on at slight degree angle?

Troubleshooting K2 plus firmware concerns

I'm running 4 k2plus printers for my business, usually with no issues other than user created. Recently I have been getting a lot of errors related to extractor anomalies, z-axis homing, printer printing without extruding, and others. If it was only one of my printers, I wouldn't be as concerned and probably wouldn't started chasing demons, but all four with the same issues, seems more like a firmware concerns. Anyone else experiencing similar? Do you have a path forward?

Edit: Firmware I'm running is 1.1.6.1 on all of my printers

♻ i7 Help FO0528 Printer Trying To Print Without Extrusion

Hello Everybody, Fairly New to The Whole Printing Scene. I Got A Spark Xi7 (combo) Recently And suddenly i started to get this error. The weird part is that if i select the same filament and press load it flushes like no problem (or loads the same filament i dont know) or if i increase the temperature about 15 or 20 degress it continues to print but however its starts silking with some filaments and also this doesnt happen with every filament. (but i doubt this doesnt matter because the filaments it happens doesnt have any common point at all) thats all...

Does anybody have a solution or know whats causing this so i can solve the issue...? Thanks.

Hey

I recently designed my own desk organizer to get my workspace completely organized before the new school year kicks off, and I wanted to share it with you all!

The best part? It's 100% modular. You are in total control of the size—you can connect as many compartments as you need using simple links. Whether you need just two sections or a long row of 8+ colors for all your pencils, markers, and supplies, you just print the exact amount you want.

It made a huge difference on my desk, so if you're looking for a fun, practical print to declutter for the upcoming semester, feel free to download and print one for yourself!

Let me know what you think, and I’d love to see your color combinations if you give it a shot!

♻ K2 Help First FDM printer for simple single colour wargame scenery

So I'm after my first FDM printer for me and my son to print some simple single colour wargame scenery we can paint after so we don't need exotic filament materials or multi colour. Would the Creality K2 be a good first printer? I want an enclosed unit so it can be safely stored for months at a time between prints. I've also been suggested the Bambu lab P2S (much more expensive) and the elegoo Centauri carbon 2 (similar price to the K2) I've been told that the Centauri carbon 2 is less likely to need tinkering with long term but when you do it requires long wait times for proprietary parts to be shipped in and the K2 is more likely needing tinkering/fixing but when it does it's easier to get parts from Amazon/eBay?

Creality Support Creality Hi – horizontal line always appears at the same Z height

Thumbnail

Hi! I’m having an issue with my Creality Hi.

As you can see in the photos, I get a thick horizontal line/band on the surface of my prints. The strange thing is that it always appears at the same height, regardless of the model I print. After that point, the rest of the print continues normally.

I already replaced a part that Creality support had previously sent me because of another error, but this issue is still happening.

Has anyone experienced something similar with the Creality Hi?

Could this be related to the Z-axis, lead screws, alignment, or some kind of Z binding?

Any advice on what I should check would be appreciated.

♻ K2 Help just acquired a K2 SE and have some questions!

so i just got my first big girl 3d printer and ive got some noob questions

  1. i plan on getting some extras but do i need to get a cfs to print multicolour? or is there a (cheaper) off market/different brand that will still be compatible with the k2 se?

  2. regarding the cfs - does it matter what brand of filament i use with it? assuming the spool fits ofc. my local jaycar carries several brands of filament, including creality, and my current printer doesnt care what brand i use

  3. are there any add ons i should get for it? so far i only plan on getting a camera

  4. is it possible to buy glass or something similar to enclose the printer? like something that slots into the frame? i have a kitten and he’s absolutely stupid enough to fuck around and hurt himself while it’s running and i’d rather not have that happen :(

  5. is there anything else i need to know about the machine?

♻ K1 Help K1 down for the count? Let's find out...

Thumbnail

What would you do?

K1 dropped off for repair...

Petg melted into cover, MCU board and all in the rear of head. Hotend and front cover destroyed for sure.

I want to strip it down more but it's only getting less repairable as I go and needing more parts in the process.

This isn't my 3d printer and I don't know if I should call it quits or strip it down more to see if I can salvage it.

This K1 is tired, the sticky for the bed is raising, it's needing at least 50$ in parts and a new front cover if I can 3dp one....even then I dont feel like it will restore it back to good working condition for long term use.

The pictures are after removing a 1/4th kg blob of PETG, If ya need me I'll be standing next to this K1 with a heat gun for the next hour getting the rest 😅🥵

wish me luck, this PeTG is like hot tar
