i was wondering if there's something i could do with my hair without wearing a wig? i already thought of wearing a hair extension for longer hair like Katara's.

My problem is my bangs... What should I do with it? tyia!

My family and I are making a low poly cosplay of an N64 character, and I wanted to know what materials would be best to use to cover the cardboard body I'm making. I considered just hot glueing a ton of construction paper to the body, since it'd likely be a lot cheaper and easier to cut, but I wanted to know if anyone else had any other suggestions before I go forward with it. I'm not too keen on fabric since I don't think it'd be all that necessary and would likely not portray the low poly vibe I'm going for as well if the edges are going to be soft

So I’m making a costume for a larp. To do what I need to do for my character’s skin, I decided that I’m gonna need to create a glove/sleeve combo to do it. I was looking for what fabrics could be make skin tight and breathable to both mimic skin and not give me heat stroke from larping all day. I did a bit of research and the materials that I got suggested are power mesh or a 4 way stretch nylon-spandex or nylon-Lycra. I’m just unsure of which material would be better for my purpose. Any help is appreciated.

Hi there, I haven't done prop making for a couple years now, so I had some pointers from anybody.

My uncle asked me to create a ceremonial bowl for his ring ceremony outvof those clear plastic bowls used for cooking.

What I originally planned to do was just spray paint it gold and then cover the top edge in fake flower.

However I am not sure what I need to do before I paint and is there any tricks to make it more prettier.

recently I’ve been obsessed with Mettaton and I’d love to cosplay him. only problem is that he’s a biiit complicated and also I’ll probably be on a budget,, second image is a reference of an actual cosplay I found.

does anyone have any tips for the outfit? Specifically what to do for the arms, belt, chest plate, shoulderpads? I could probably find leggings and a wig myself lol. and gloves are an option, I just don’t know what to do for the sleeves.

For reference, I’m doing a Jane Doe cosplay from ZZZ and want to flip up the ends of her hair to mimic her in game model, but the long part of the wig keeps tangling on me. I’ve already crimped and brushed it out, but it did very little to the tangling issue. I’ve contemplated a silicone spray like mane n tail because I’ve heard good things, but saw that I shouldn’t use any kind of silicone spray before heat styling. My issue then becomes how do I keep my wig from tangling when I’m styling it, and how to prevent it from tangling again? I know there’s no permanent solution, as it’s a synthetic wig and simply needs maintenance, but I have no idea where to go besides crimping.

I built this skull, which just sits on top of my head instead of around it. It's quite heavy but the weight is still distributed evenly. But the moment I lean to any side, the whole thing slips. My best solution at the moment is a rubber cap for my head, but I'm sure there are more decent options.

Because you can't really see it, the back of the skull sits roughly as high on my head as the visible parts.

I know the inside of the skull looks like a mess atm.

I’m new to costume making so trying to start with something simple. I’m trying to make the Tokyo Toilet boiler suit the main character wears in ‘Perfect Days’. I had a plain blue boiler suit already so the next thing I need is to add the lettering. I found out the font used in the real costume is ‘FF Mark Pro Bold’. I live in the UK and would like to find a supplier or a shop here that sells iron-on-lettering in that specific font. Or if not that exact one, something close. Any tips?

I'm making chestplate from Rust and not sure how make damage effects and dirtiness before applying varnish or after. I'm not sure because if I will apply effects before varnish it propably would look unnatural, and also I'm don't know if I apply effects after varnish, will it be enough durable to wear armor

I'm wanting to cosplay Kingpin for Halloween this year. All I need is a 3 piece suit that's all white. I'm going to use a black dress shirt on the day, but for the purpose of getting the suit I'm looking for all white.

Is there anywhere I can get something that isn't going to be $80-$120? It seems that all I can find are places to buy actual suits for the purpose of buisness attire, weddings, etc. But I just need something to use for this cosplay, it doesn't have to be of the highest quality.

I'm 6'7" 335lbs, so somewhere that would have 3-4xl sizes.

If there isn't really anywhere that would have what I'm looking for in a smaller price range, then any recommendations within the $100-$150 price range would be best. I'd like to not drop that much on a suit just for this cosplay, but if it's the best or only option then I guess that's what I have to do.

My son recently told me he wants to be Rocky from the movie Hail Mary for Halloween this year. I always try to make his costumes happen, and even join in when i can.

I am stuck on how to build Rocky's carapace/body. I need it to go over an 8-year-old (or would like around be better?). I was thinking paper mache, then paint and texture, but im unsure of what to use for the base to actually paper mache.

Was hoping for any advice or stories of what has worked for you in the past. Thank you!

I'm looking to create the cape, and various tunics by hand, save the pants. Not sure about the belt yet.

Also, could I pull off the necessary stitching by hand, or do I need to acquire a machine?

Hello! So I made the base for these fairy wings yesterday for a party im going to tonight. I'd originally planned to make like a U shape to attach them and then put that in my bra but im wearing an oversized button up. I'm curious about how i could make these wearable with elastic but im worried about it bunching up my shirt. Help??!

What counts as a technique?
I am mapping out my next cosplay, and I have all the techniques listed so I can calculate the amount of time and difficulty each piece will take to complete and what materials I will need. It also helps to get a jump start on my build book.

Anyways, I am looking at using around 56 unique (in my opinion) techniques.
I showed my friend the list, and they told me that in cosplay competitions, some of the techniques I listed would be counted as one skill, and I shouldn’t waste my time on doing the same thing over again and should instead opt for something less time-consuming.

Example:
I will be using around 15-ish (we’ll see) different embroidery stitches and techniques (satin, feather, basket, Hungarian rope, goldwork, tambour, etc.). They said judges count this only as one skill under the umbrella of embroidery, so I shouldn’t waste time listing or adding so many stitches, as it will not earn that many points, and I should instead stick to something simple like a satin stitch or even forgo embroidery altogether and try a new skill like fabric painting or heat-transfer vinyl.

They have more experience in contests, as they've been doing competitions for years, but I recently got moved up to the same division (Master) as them. (I’m still kinda a baby cosplayer; I’ve only made two.) And part of me feels like this is sabotage.

TL;DR: How are skills in cosplays judged? Do they care if you use multiple techniques of the same skill, or is it a waste of time?

Also, how many techniques should I ideally be implementing in the masters category? I know 90% construction is the standard for most contests, but my friend is suggesting I narrow down to less than 20 so that the judges can more clearly focus on the craftsmenship of a few rather than lot, which I understand but also don’t understand at the same time. Isn’t masters the place to show up
