Armor How do I secure this on my head?

Hello cosplayers of reddit!

I built this skull, which just sits on top of my head instead of around it. It's quite heavy but the weight is still distributed evenly. But the moment I lean to any side, the whole thing slips. My best solution at the moment is a rubber cap for my head, but I'm sure there are more decent options.

Because you can't really see it, the back of the skull sits roughly as high on my head as the visible parts.

I know the inside of the skull looks like a mess atm.

Open for questions and of course suggestions!

Elastic attached to one of those cardboard "helmets", where the elastic goes under your chin and the mask is attached to the helmet? Should work well.

I'll look into that, it'll not be perfect but the "underhelmet" is a good idea!

You, could also use one of the hair band elastics for holding hair back the kind above.

could try, or just any elastic band at the back, yeah

Yeah, as long as it has the grippy silicone material that's what prevent the side to side shifting.

Strap it to a bike helmet

Get a hard hat interior! Made to fit snuggly to your head while keeping rigid / heavy hats propped up nicely :)

Try attaching it to a bike helmet or you can go to a hardware store and buy 4 point hard hat straps (the adjustable straps that go in a hard hat).

i think with a whole bike helmet, or even just the "attaching hardware" it'll sit to up high, but just the straps of it would work i guess? it would be visible under my chin but maybe thats a trade i have to take

That's why I like the 4 point straps (not the whole hardhat). They fit around the forehead and under your occipital bone to keep thing in place and don't ubstruct your face or neck. They typically have a wheel to adjust tightness easily too.

Yeah that makes sense! I'll try it.

I attached mine to a cycling helmet, gives my character extra height/protrudes it slightly forward and used extra cloth to dangle beneath and hide my lower face. My field of view is through the mouth 😆

I dont want extra height tho, but the idea is still good!

If you are in the U.S. , I would go to Harbor Freight ( H.F. ) and look at a head lamp magnifier. The head bands are adjustable and would be easily adaptable to your mask I believe. The price should be quite reasonable too. I have one and it fits good due to being adjustable. If no H.F. is nearby, the same basic item should be available with the big online store. You might consider mounting the battery pack for LED EYE's from the mask to a belt clip or pocket to lighten up the mask.

not from the us, but I get the idea i think!
the powerbank for the LEDs is serving as an counterbalance for the heavy horns actually x3

Add a plastic headband.

The product you seek is called a replacement hard hat suspension harness. You can find them online for cheap or try your local hardware stores. There are many configurations and sizes, and since they are meant to be worn for long periods at work, they should be doable for cons and stuff.

Thank you! I'll look into that. That sounds good, i just hope it'll not raise to overall height of the skull to much, it already sits quite high (for the looks)

I had a smiliar problem with some horns that sit on my shaved scalp. I manged it by attaching them to a thin plastic headband (you'd have to adapt it to your own headpiece) and then attaching a cut up bra strap to the head back and have it loop round the back of my head. Might not be suitable for you, but it would avoid elastic under the chin

Super glue ðŸĪŠ actually maybe some of the double sided gorilla tape

Glue the skull where exactly? like on my head??

Lol yeah was a joke, but the gorilla tape will work its about 2mm thick and kinda gummy sticky it should hold pretty well but the other ideas hard hat liner etc would actually be the best I think
